Default Power to the Thread Starters!

What I was thinking to make it easier on the Mods was to have the priviliges set so that the thread starter could mod their own thread. In this setup, not only could the tread starter close/delete the tread or their posts (like they can now) but also remove other's posts in their thread and block certain users from posting. This in turn would have thread starter not suffer the humiliation of they're roleplay thread becoming cluttered with spam and OOC chatter. Even with OOC threads people will still post soley OOC in an IC thread.

Other ways this could help Mods is make it easier for the starters to police themselves. Basically, the thread starter would post in the Advanced, have a random newb post only a single paragraph or three sentences. The starter could warn them, and if they do not comply then, well the starter can set it so that person cannot post on that thread anymore, and delete their cluttery posts to mantain quaility so a mod doesn't later come by, see the one-liners, single-paragraph, and OOC chatter and move the thread to Casual or Beginner, and as the community increases in size we are going to have more problems with spamming newbs.

Well, if anyone wants to rebute this or add to it be my guest. Just one thing about those who might be against it, and your argument would likely be this:
Quote:
What if the thread starter is an asshole that is just going to ban us at a whim?
A) It would only be in any thread THEY CREATE.
B) Do you by chance think the mods here are assholes? If "yes", somehow I thought that. Maybe we don't want you then...

That could be a very good idea, give mod powers to people for their own threads, but only in IC and OOC places for individual rp's... I just can't see that working out very well in general chatter :3

Don't dwell on the past, it suits human beings poorly. The world around us is too harsh and horrible to think after you act.

Well, a spam topic is a spam topic and should be dealt with accordingly, but I don't know, someone that might be more interested in intellengent conversation than engaging in a flame war, no?

I don't know, just me thinking.

In my opinion, you're right, but... I have some problem with the very very first line. Which says:

Nice thought, but to tell the truth we have it too easy. GIV ME WORK IM POOR. You see, most of the members are trying to solve stuff personally in their threads and are not using the help we offer. Ok, some spam there, some advertisement here, all that we do.

Just give me a PM like this.

I'm so pissed. This xy guy is ****ing up my thread, please help us , oh omnipotent moderator.
And i'll come from the deepest of hell and wreak havoc in your thread leaving burnt toast in my wake. Thats all.

If you're really desperate for work, I can make of bunch of gimmik accounts for you to ban.

I do think that allowing the thread starters some measure of power over their threads would be really helpful, but I can see some people abusing it. Maybe it could be given to the users who have been here long enough to demonstrate they are capable to handle the responsibility.

Yeah, people would abuse the power, trying to stear the roleplay and whatnot...

...but at the end of their day its their thread, no?

Anyways maybe later on when the community is got over 1000 members and finding trustworthy mods gets harder and harder. It seems that moding right now isn't a massive hassle due to the community size and the lack of misbehaving users, but just wait til there is more people than can be reasonably moded. Just thinking in the future.

Half the people who join this place only post like... one or twice then they are gone today how many people are posting? You only see like.. 20names or so.

The whole arguement of the place getting too large is pretty bad I think. Though I do agree with you and the ability to do some good for you own thread.

I would just like to add, that I do my best to be active here. I'm on every single day, almost the entire day(because I have not a life beyond this forum. Be thankful.)

Though I doubt that this will go through. The mods will handle anything you ask them to. I realize that it would be more trouble to write a descriptive letter as to what you want edited, as a opposed to just going and editing it yourself. But it really would leave more loose-ends than it would tie.

But I have to say, that I am pulled both ways on this situation.

Right now, yeah I agree, not much in the name of people, especially those who forum hover. It is not to say, however, that in the future there would be 100 people on at any given time, even if they only post once or twice and disappear.

Oh, and Isudae76, what loose ties would be left?
