I have uploaded a picture, trying it both by saving it to my computer and using the URL. It uploads and says everything is fine, but doesnt appear when I post. What is wrong and how can I fix it?

To me your profile picture is showing up as the same image as your avatar, though a bit larger. Is that right or are you trying to put in a different picture?

Profile picture doesn't appear when you post, it just stays in your profile to people to look at when they click your name.

Your AVATAR is what appears when you post.

And yeah it looks like both pictures are the same. As a rule avatars have a smaller size limit than the profile pictures, so if you're trying to make it big or something, it won't get any bigger than that.
