Roleplay Ratings?
I've been thinking on this issue since I joined the RPGuild. I've noticed that almost none of the roleplays have a rating to them. Now, I know the rules, and by no means am I trying to change them.. But I've seen this sort of roleplay tactic used on other sites and they work very well.
Most of the people on another site would put a rating for the roleplay in their titles. For example: Blades of Blood (Mature) in a vampire roleplay or Secrets of the Heart (M) in a modern romance roleplay. The ratings were done mostly by single letters. M = Mature only G = General audiances Y = Younger viewer approved On the other sites, this worked out really well. Some of the people {most, actually} prefered being able to do this because not only did it let everyone know that some things, such as in an M-rated roleplay, weren't appropriate for anyone who didn't want to read gory violence, explicit romance, or lots of cussing... But it also kept others from being so restricted. I think the main reason this was incorporated was because some people either didn't like, or couldn't use, any instant messengers on their computers. I also noticed on other sites that it kept the roleplays going as well when people could incorporate every detail of the roleplays into their posts, rather than having to divert to PMs or IMs in order to do something, and then confuse others when they posted again and the relationship between two characters had suddenly changed. I just thought I'd bring this up and see if anyone else thought this may be a good idea.

Personally, I love the idea. I wouldn't want to ruin someone else's experience here just because they stumbled into an RP to mature for them... That's no good.

I hear ya. I know on the other site that I was on at one point {around 3 years ago} had this thing where two or three people would start a roleplay, and be very detailed about it. It had two advantages. One was that those who couldn't use IMs had a place to roleplay, and it also served as a sort of mini-book to others. Needless to say, there were several awesome rp's I never joined but loved reading.

Yeah, that's half the fun of an RP: Making a story that's enjoyable for both the writer to perform and the reader to experience.

Yep. And by the way, I agree with you 100% on the fiction roleplays. I'm not so good at playing roleplay plots without some sort of fantasy twist to them unless they have a really good plot incorporated into them.

Whew! Thank goodness I'm not the only one! ^.^
Anytime I'm in your average non-fiction based RP, I feel too...restricted I guess is the word I'm looking for...

Same here, lol. I like being able to let my imagination run rampid with different possibilities. I've actually been wanting to try something sorta new for me as well. It kinda sounds like a rip off of harry potter, but it isn't. It's like a secret academy only certain people know about {people who do wizzardry, witchcraft, druidism, ect}. The only thing is.. it has this little love triangle-thing in my head that keeps popping into it and I have no idea how big people are on romance in roleplays on this site.
On a side note, and I don't mean to advertise here, but there's a roleplay of mine you may like to join under Casual called "Dragon Wrath". We're still needing a few people for the whole plot line to go very far.

This site is considered as PG13 (or was it 14, i don't remember) rated. There are rps here though that violates that, but they're tolerated because of their low number. If they were to increase their numbers we would close them immediately.
Well, i understand your points as well. Everybody has different tastes. Though this site has its own rules and i like it this way.
