I just joined this site yesterday, read all the rules I could find, and still had some questions. As I didn't see a "post all roleplay questions here" forum, I thought this might be the right one to ask these questions.

1. There are plenty of rules regarding elemental magic, but what are the guidlines about illusionary magic?

2. What's the etiquette for joining one of the current RP threads? There aren't many threads for new stories, but I feel a bit awkward jumping into the middle of one that's been going on for several pages.

as for the threads, if you want to start a new thread, just start a new topic under the beginners section or casual. Once you get your feet wet, you might want to check out advanced later. If you want to join a thread already in progress, it's best to post in the ooc of that thread first and ask if you can join, or pm the thread creator.

The 'Rules' on elemental magic (I assume you're talking about this article) are more guidelines than actual rules, magic is something that can't really be defined by rules as each person's view of it is generally unique. If you're joining an already existing RP with magic involved, try and follow the way that the author has used magic, and try not to introduce anything that would contradict what's already been done, unless it's a free-for-all type of thing where you can pretty much use whatever you want.

As for joining RPs, just check out their corresponding OOC thread and post an application (or whatever's required to join), either that or PM the thread creator. Just make sure to check first if the thread is still alive and always be sure to either read everything posted beforehand or ask for a summary to get a gist of the plot.

Okay the place for this to really be is in the suggestions/problems section, any rule questions/problems should be addressed in there by creating a new thread under a suitable title and then post out your questions.

Well, I guess I'll just have to test the waters myself then. Hopefully I don't step any toes, as I can stretch this magic type pretty far, which is why I enjoy it so much.

In terms of magic - or any type of 'rule' around here it's very thread specific (except in the Persistent World in which there are a global set of rules).

If you join a thread with a magical element and are curious about it then ask the author - they can give you the information you desire. The articles are just individuals opinions, we have no set ground rules for much of anything. If I was to pick a set of rules they would be something like:

1. Be open-minded and courteous
2. Be respectful of others opinions
3. Have fun
