Angry Sponsors, Affiliates and Links

Why aren't members allowed to advertise in their signatures? Some people like to roleplay on more then one rp site. It's unfair to be so restrictive. This is just my opinion though. Everything else about the site is nice.

I think you could work with the members. Let them know once they reach a certain post limit , they could advertise their forum in their sig or in a special advertising area. Otherwise it's one less reason to keep coming back here , once they are done posting in the roleplay they are in.

We only recently became strict about the advertisements in signatures. Some people doesn't advertise rp-only sites, so we decided to clear them out. All of them.

You can advertise the roleplays that are to be found in the guild but nothing else.

This site, the more it grows, is likely to get its fair amount of spammers. Mind you, most of these are harmless (for the most part. Unless you're deathly afraid of hearing about those organic pills for pencil enlargement.) However, if they (the spammers) find links to other sites on this board, they'll most likely go there as well and spam your board, and if its not as protected as this one, someone might even go to the (rare) lengths of hacking.

If you want to advertise your board, try going here:

Plug Your Board

(So I just advertised an advertising board...did anyone else hear the rip in the space-time continuum?)

I agree with the above, which is why I'm posting this. It is, in my opinion, the best words used so far.

Sure, but why? Let's see... A forum growing this fast is a good prey for advertising, because of the high visits per day, so businesses legal or illegal find it a good place to advertise.

Why is it a problem? Well, Mahz is paying for advertising, so Google and such will let our site pup up more frequently in advertisements. That means lots of people visits the page just for a look. So, advertisers literally using our resources to make money. I know, in your case you don't get money, but Mahz didn't pay for filling up your site with members.

Pssh. I'm not scared of spammers, that's what word filters are for. But I understand that value of paid for advertising. And I respect that.

Still I think members who have spent a long time being active , deserve the privilege of advertising in their signature. It is just common courtesy in my opinion, and the precaution allows this forum to stay safe from spammers. If you are going to allow a chat box someday ,I don't see why this could be any different. (Chatboxers invite spammers as well and could pose a threat to your members in the same fashion.)

Thank you for answering my question.

You are not scared, but the Mods don't want to spend hours cleaning up filth left by spammers, (Lordlynxx spent much of his free time deleting the same message filled with horrible pictures that would make you even want to throw up.)

And I think the restriction has safeguarded the Guilds growth. And Again, Mahz paid for advertising, common courtesy or not, I don't think its right to piggy back off of someone's else's work.
