Yeah, that would've been my reaction too. It was a damn good delivery though, it would've really annoyed me had it have actually worked out. But, you win some, you lose some. :P

Hmm, I've only been here like 20 minutes, and that sounds like a good idea to me.

That's not the same thing at all. There is a difference between relaxing with your friends on instant messenger and having a one on one conversation with someone on this forum. You should encourage more attention on this forum ,and not push everyone off to instant messenger land. Need I remind you that a spammer can just as easily whore his forum on instant messenger anyway. So I don't know what the big deal with rewarding the loyal members of the forum is. The mods should give more leniency to the members who have reached over 1,000 quality posts and stop being so scared of members spamming. Especially when they have proven themselves with quality posts and activity. Otherwise it's so much easier to run off to another forum , where their aren't so many nagging restrictions.

And from what I seen on here, this forum can't afford to lose it's loyal members.

IF you want to talk to someone quickly about an rp, and PM is to slow then I do advise you to use the instant messaging system. I have used it many times just because it was quicker (Even after I became a mod)

As stated by other mods before, It is perhaps better we get rid of the post count. I knew of a member who had 1,000 posts in maybe one or two months of activity.

Now If we did that, people will just spam with one or two words in the welcome section or off topic to get their post count to 1,000 then the forum will go to crap.

Yup, i mean, look at my post count. Hardly inspiring is it? But then i pride myself on a consistent level of posting standard and i don't join more rp's than i can handle. So by your suggestion, should i be limited with my PM function? After spending almost a year here?

Again, to bring up my previous point, there are seven other people in my rp. Two have the same kind of IM as I do. So if I need to contact them all I have to invest in half a bloody hour on here just to let them know.

Post count is a ridiculous thing to base it on. Although I don't think we should remove it altogether, we shouldn't use it s a basis for anything. I know a few people who've achieved upwards of 300-400 posts in the last half week!

The key here is that final sentence, you see.

After spending almost a year here?

No you shouldn't. But of course, you don't, with all of those glorious mod powers you have! But I'm sure there's boatloads of people here who have been around just as long, with no such benefits. The factor in deciding the PM Limit here is time.

I've been here a week and a half and it's already gotten my attention. But that's why it was made. Anyone who's been here for a month without a... er... 'criminal record,' per se, should no longer be subject to any limits regarding their PMs. How many times must you talk to a person before deciding if you will become friends? Twice? Three times? Ten, in the case of nerds like myself? So surely, 30-31 days is enough time for a member's posts to reveal their true colours, and prove whether they deserve restrictions or not.

Sure, as competent people have to undergo a month of annoyance, it's not a perfect strategy. But it's damn well better than the one in place now, wouldn't you say?

By the way,

Isn't that the fate of every forum, in the end? In twenty years, where will we be? God only knows, I can only suppose.

No rhyme intended.

At the chance that I may sound like a snobbish prick: The BBC Corporation would like to apologize for the following message.

This forum will survive long after you grow bored and leave. Believe it.(lawl)

The limit is there, it's staying there until the head admin, Mahzkreig, decides to change it. Drop this and move on.

I understand that you are having to put just a little bit more work into contacting your players, but that is no reason to keep prying at this.

It's been debated, poking this thread any longer is just spam.

That's from days ago, and the limit has been unaltered. Has he forgotten, or is he busy with other matters?

Thank you. Drive through.

And failure to respond to the messages of others is just rude.

I was not the one who continued the argument, and the BBC can't protect you from the fact that yes, you do sound like a snobbish prick, with no offense intended.

This is an open forum, where free speech is common practice. Spamming is posting for no point; my last post was to offer a previously unmentioned possibility.

Yes, I read the four little snippets you quoted too, but I already responded to those. I was responding to Aerandir and Tsardel in my last post. And as you offered nothing to further the topic itself, please tell me, what was the point of your post? To tell me, in formal words, to 'shut up?' Again, this is an open forum.

I had finished my argument earlier. But more people posted, so I responded. Is that a crime here?

Wasn't there a word here, that people with courtesy often use to differentiate between a respectful suggestion and an order? Oh, yes, now I remember. Please. It would have been nice to read that at least once...

I don't want any hostility here. But honestly, why am I the only target of your, dare I say it, mother-like lecture when I was only the last in a long line of posts after what you seemed to think was the topic's end? Not that I think any of us should be targeted at all. Was there something different about my post?

If only you could read emotions in text...
