Exclamation Ummm Big suggestion!

Ok so I have kinda noticed people not typing in the third person. I won't say who since they are probably too novice to understand. But alot of rp's go too fast paced for it to make sense. Third person smiled not smiles. ED not ES! ok I am dorking out slightly but it helps to gain some sense of detail. I know my posts aren't exactly the best too, but I at least try to make them beyond one sentence. In a book alot of actions are done through past tense, not the present. I dunno I guess my habits from avidgamers won't go away. Its a major peeve. Plus one more thing I would like to add in. Sentence Fluency! you can't jump from one action to the other without a connecting action to go along with it...gah...! Anyways, I apologize to those that maybe offended by this. It just makes better sense to work on your style of rping..before actually posting. Especially if you are on multiple rp's that become unattractive to the eye, when you make posts like a three year old.

K done with my rant...

Yes, well those rp's belongs to the beginner section. Casual is kind of crowded with decent rps which are flooded by beginners. We won't do nothing against it until the thread starter complains. If it bothers no one, then it should be alright, except if they break the rules of that section.

Also, nobody starts off as a decent writer. If you need example look at the thread Animal Rights and see my first posts. They look awful.
But now I'm pretty confident in my posts.

Lol. I've noticed some RPs swarming with pages because of one line posts

They die quickly. Most of them serve the purpose of increasing post count, since most of the members believes that false fact that they're more prestigious when they outnumber others with post counts.

Since RPG grows well nowadays, it became a wasteful effort to try hunting down these rps.

Well normally I encourage novice Rper's to build experience. But its almost along the lines of spamming. Like I said I won't point fingers, i'm just gonna change my rules and use one of this persons post as an example of what not to do.

I'm in one beginner RP and it's pretty good, and fun so far. Otherwise i'm in RPs where you usually post long posts. More fun. Infact, Beginners would most likely get much better experience by posting long, and perhaps using a spell checker to identify mistakes to learn from that

If they really want to advance, they will do that after a while. If not, they mostly get bored with rping here, because posting on forum is slower than rping on a chat or IM service and they leave.

I have a couple of issues here:

What do you have against roleplaying from the first person perspective?

I applaud anyone who cares to write well in that style, it's incredibly hard to gain consistency and if they can, they will be much the better for it. I point you in the direction of my favourite series of books i have read to date: The Eisenhorn Trilogy, Written by Dan Abnett and publish by the black library. The entire thing, all three parts are written solely in the first person from cover to cover, the writer does actually state at the beginning of the book he hated doing it, but it is one of his best selling series' and as i stated one of my (and quite a few of the people i know) favourite books. So really that point is invalid and really just a gripe from personal point of view.

"Judge not, lest ye be judged yourself."

But all the other parts of your rant are legitimate in the eys of many, however, We should not be quick to shout off about how others like to have fun. Roleplaying is a multi faceted thing, no two roleplays are ever the same and people have many different styles in which they like to conduct them.

These one line threads hold lot more interest in them than some of the works many other people have created, (often having spent hours on end typing out their introduction and rules, double and treble checking for consistency only for them to die less then 2 pages in and be consigned to the back ends of the forum) and more importantly, these threads contain alot of activity, activity which will one day breed many a good roleplayer. I myself remember the days when "having fun" was more important than how many words my post contained, and i'm sure very many of the other members may well have started roleplaying in the exact same manner.

So, we should not really be posting up threads like this, condemning peoples writing styles and activities just because of a single persons viewpoint and, indeed, a viewpoint which would be construed as "snobbish" were it not for the fact many people have your exact same stance.

I say to you all: Everyone was a beginner and none of us ever got as good as we are without learning somewhere. That place of learning here is the beginners section and as such, don't condemn the works within it just because "it's not good enough" to you.

Wow... I just have to say, Tsardel, that was... I think you just helped me out!
That was really inspiring! My point of view has been put back into balance, now I won't feel so intimidated when writing or roleplaying anymore thanks to that post.

I thank you
