I think the character limit may be a limitation of the forums code, not the forums settings... though I could be wrong.

Regardless 10,000 is plenty. Even an extremely good writer doesn't usually make an IC post at that number and if they do the rules allow double posts in such situations. Considering that the advanced forum has far less writers than the beginner or casual, especially if you look at the advanced writers actually keeping up to the advanced standards, there really is no need for a higher character count anyway. In my opinion it just doesn't seem like something Mahz should have to spend time on when he has more important things to do, especially if he has to program it himself.

Actually now Blackfire and Lordlynxx could change it as well (I think). Anyways, As stated before, not many people ever get to the limit. (I have only done that twice, at saying props to you!) So it's a fair setting. But yes, no mod or any member is going to get mad for double posting if the writer ran out of space.
If it becomes a problem later on( Like everyone is double posting to get out all they had to say and ran out of space) Then yea, we'll change it.

I'm not too sure, because i kinda skipped a few SQL lessons, but i think there is some sort of limit that a SQL table can handle safely. Also, I'm sure Mahz would enable the maximum the forum can handle, due to reasons listed above.
So, don't worry about double posting if you reached the maximum character limit.

I support the possibility of increasing character limits, but I would wish for this from the PM perspective. Last night I was up until 3 helping with something that's soon to be unveiled on the site, and it got sort of annoying. I had to break my work into 3 separate PMs, and wait 500 seconds between each.
And it was reeeeaaally early in the morning. That made for a cranky Sai. XD

(First of all, I'm back in the USA. I have a lot of catching up to do, and my leave of absence can explain a lot.)
The 10,000 character limit has nothing to do with roleplaying or limiting writing. It's a hard-coded character maximum so that the SQL vehicle can manifest safely. This won't change because as RPGuild grows in activity and popularity, the amount of concurrent connections to the SQL operand (the mechanic behind how this forum functions) grows and trying to levy larger states of data across the internet abyss can churn more redundancies. ![]() Thanks for bringing up the harsh private message anti-spam settings though. I threw those up during the "Incident" and I totally forgot about them. I'll be reducing them shortly. |
