Roleplayer Guild - Forum Roleplaying Games

I am thinking about starting a superpowers RPG in around the 1880's/1890's. It's either going to be set in Germany in a alternate history or just a made up island, Atlantis, which I may use in other roleplays.

The storyline background will be the same in that there are superheros in the world. They are maintained by an secret government run department called the Britsh Empire Supernatural Department. They track down superheros and order them to obey by the rules of the department or they will get arrested. It is headed by a non superpowered man but the rest are made up by people with super powers.

You would be able to play as anyone basically hero, villain normal civilian but the roleplay will be more focused on the BESD. So would anyone be interested in this ?

Aslong as it never had that 'Atlantis' thing in it. That sort of pushes the sci-fi fantasy part of the roleplay idea to full on fantasy..

It wouldn't be anything to do with Greek mythology part of it. It's just called Atlantis cos it would be in the Atlantic ocean.

But it still may not be set in a fictional island it depends where I want to go with the roleplay.

We could just call it Skull Island, or something to that effect.

I'd have preffered if it were somewhere in Victorian England.
I can visualize Victorian people, from wealthy gentlemen to Strumpets running around with powers. (Strumpets are prossies.)
And then the BESD hunting them down and dragging them off the streets again.

Also, are the existence of superpowers known by the general population? If so, why is the BESD secret?

There not generally known to the population as I say the BESD control the superheroes and as I was thinking a few mins ago before there was no real big superpowered battles or anything like that and the government has more control over newspapers that the public think. Though obviosuly that will all change.

It seems that doing it in a normal world location would be best and would probably take place in more than one location anyway. London, Berlin, Venice, Paris etc...
