Default Tournament of Lava: Switch vs. Hunter

(( h'Okay, I'm not sure what kind of Arena we're fighting in, what kind of style we're meant to use, winning or losing conditions, or very much other than we make characters and fight. I'm assuming lava should be included somewhere, however, so, barring any objections, we'll fight on an active volcano, rich in cover and caves, as well as the volcano occasionally erupting, much to the amusement of everyone who gets burned to death by the volcano. Each character can have the volcano erupt on their turn but only once, the effect causing all combatants without a deathwish to seek cover or a high position where they will not be hit by the flow. After a few turns, the lava will harden, allowing the whole arena to be used once again. Combatants enter on opposite sides of the volcano, and must engage each other how they see fit, from firing a bullet at their adversary from a mile away, or by walking up to their foe, bowing respectfully, and then engaging them with honour. No forced hits, no using previously unmentioned weaponary, no using illogical abilities, no walking on the grass. Ready? GO! ))

The Hunter stepped into the volcano from the east side, his clothes selected particularly for camoflage in the dark, stony environment. The volcano rumbled beneath him, and the man immediately began scaling the mountains face, running to get as close to the peak as he could without endangering himself. As per the rules, he knew nothing of his opponent, and if he had his way, his enemy would never find out a single thing about him.

As he scaled the face of the volcano, his Rifle bouncing against his chest in its sling, he noted the various chutes on the side, many of which were periodically dispensing molten rock in thick, red and black pools of heat. The volcano itself was sweltering, especially wearing full-body camoflage. Hunter reached a small vista with an impressive view of the east side of the volcano, and lay down, unslinging his rifle. He checked it over, and removed the scope from a small package on his hip, screwing it to the sight of the weapon. Lying down in the prone position, he unholstered his pistol and lay it on the floor next to him, to save time in case of a close-range encounter. He picked a single bullet from his jacket pocket, where they lay in a special-order sleeve. The bullet was loaded. The bolt was drawn back with a mechanical sound. He lay down on the floor, falling perfectly into position.

His heart rate slowed. His hands steadied. His left eye closed slowly as his right eye surveyed the cliffside. He finger lay in front of the trigger, outside the fingerguard. And then... He waited.

Attaining the peak of the volcano was no mean feat, and Switch had the luck of being on the steeper side. His wakizashi knocked against the cliff, scuffing the polished scabbard, which was steadily getting a coating of soot. Switch himself was wearing a black tank top and a pair of black tracksuit bottoms, the camoflague of his cloths offset by the skin showing along his arms and neck. The goggles he wore were keeping the worst of the soot out of his eyes, yet Switch still had to stop himself from trying to knead his eyeballs.

Eventually reaching the peak, Switch lay for a second on the rocky ground, before pushing himself up cautiously, scanning the rim of the volcano for his opponent. The thick smoke being pumped out of the volcano made for poor visiblity, and Switch peered into the volcano itself, shielding his face from the bright glow. After a few minutes, Switch set off round the volcano, a hand on his wakizashi and the other gripping his handgun so tighly his knuckles looked as though there was no skin covering them.

Hunter glared down the mountainside, watching for any kind of unnatural movement. Confident that his opponent would go around the side conventionally, he watched the corners of his field of vision carefully. The constant rumbling of the volcano muffled any sounds of Switch's presense, and Hunter was left watching the clifface patiently.

(( I may not be able to respond to this for a week, something came up in RL and I'm going to have to be without the internet for that long. Will respond if I get the chance, but it's unlikely. I'll restart as soon as I return, hopefully.))

(( Uh, sorry, but whut? It wasn't internet outrage, and posting in your main thread would have made it spam. I made it completely obvious it was based from your thread, and simply made up a base set of rules until you could get back. If you object, get a mod to close this thread, and I apologise.

(( Oop, my bad. Still, usually someone being inactive for around two weeks could be seen as a reason to continue a thread instead of letting it die. ))
