Roleplayer Guild - Forum Roleplaying Games

Here is my latest post in a thread started by Rouge47. I understand Mikodite's misunderstanding and that shows me that apparently the intention of the RP forum breakdown isn't well-understood or established, so I will be working on a better set of documentation and wording.

I basically discuss my philosophy behind the RP forum breakdown:

On the topic of complex, intricate first-posts full of world rules, the geography of the world and the nearby planets, and the part where the threadstarter has rewritten physics for his or her world -- I'm right there with you. However, understand that this is a usability and accessibility issue that the threadstarter is creating by possibly reducing the accessibility and interest of their thread. This has nothing to do with Advanced Roleplay and this practice goes on in every forum, right down to Beginners Roleplay.

Advanced RP is simply trying to keep an environment favorable to a type of roleplayer. That's it. It's trying to cater to a certain type of writer. No more. It's not a place for everyone, and it's not a place where everyone should want to end up eventually. Why? Because not everyone roleplays the same way.

Some people will always have the most fun in the no-bars Beginners' Roleplay while others will always prefer the Advanced Roleplay environment. My number one priority is that everyone finds somewhere they can comfortably roleplay at. If you don't like the idea of Advanced RP and its practices, I suggest you check out Casual and Beginner RP. The winds blow differently in each RP forum and each has its own crowd of roleplayers.

I do agree that the regulations and standards of Advanced RP and the rest of the forums needs to be rewritten for clarity. I also want to rewrite some official RPGuild documentation on things like How To Roleplay and other guides for people to follow.

Hey, look. I know... I KNOW. I do have decent list of changes I'd like to get done. Just let it be known that I've started to metamorphosis back into the old Mahz that everyone knew and loved (think pre-Novemeber 2007) when I was much more on top of things and I didn't have many distractions. Expect some of those old changes to take place soon. If you'd like to see some of them, check out some ancient news items.

Also, if I owe you a PM... yeah. I'll get right on that. EDIT: You might want to resend that PM in which you're awaiting a response to. I get about 10-12 messages a day so it's a bit hard to keep track of.
