Roleplayer Guild - Forum Roleplaying Games

I'd just like to say that I just got back from a camping trip for my Spring Break. I don't announce things like this beforehand because spammers and denial-of-service attacks mysteriously increase during my leave. I wonder why that is.

But anyhow, I have a good amount of ground I want to cover when I get back on campus. Here are some upcoming changes:

1. Revise the rule system. The current rule system isn't very clear and I haven't really been enforcing it very much. So far the Mods and I are really only taking care of business on a care-per-case basis. I'd like to propose a solid set of rules that RPGuild is governed on so that Mods and other users can simply point to certain rules when warning other users.

I'm not ramping RPGuild up into some sort of strict totalitarian regime, but I am trying to make the clears very clear cut and sensible. I AM going to focus on reducing spam, though. A lot of good discussion threads dissolve into spam and this needs to stop.

2. Implement a freakin' chat-box. This is easily the longest running suggestions EVER. I KNOW. I AM SORRY. Understand that the reason I don't implement things like this isn't because I'm still teetering on the idea, but that I have to find the time to sit down and get it done. I imagine I'll try multiple different types of chats and let you all help me decide on the best one.

3. Take a look at all the suggestions on the Suggestion Board. I frequent the Suggestion Board... frequently, and I like a lot of the ideas, but I need to go back and actually write down the good suggestions and imagine how I want to implement them. There are a LOT of good ideas in the Suggestions forum and I'd like to make sure every idea so far has been considered. I should also make a list of all the ideas and what my thoughts are on them in a Sticky thread or something so you can see what ideas there are and what my official thoughts on them are so suggestions don't feel like they're made in vain.

4. Totally lost my train of thought , but know that I AM here and I AM working.

Just to put things in perspective so I don't seem like a lazy dude that does nothing but postpone the implementation of chat-boxes, I spend most of my time here looking over IP access data tables, checking each individual new user registration against the IP ban list to catch similarities, checking the private message tables for PM spammers, and other activities solely to prevent malicious use of RPGuild and spamming. I guess in a perfect world where losers didn't go after roleplaying communities I would have more time to roleplay with you all and have a better allocation of my time, but dealing with malicious users has been consuming my RPGuild-related time and burning me out in the process.

One of the other Mods recently asked me why I don't roleplay with the community and that's pretty much the reason why. If you really wanted to, you can see my post history back to mid-2007 and find the few roleplays I've participated in. I guess my roleplaying hobby has shifted from actually roleplaying to providing a community for roleplayers.
