Just for reference: The Letters To The Editor section will be on a second post for this article.

Is Spam Beginning to Take Over?
Recent poll studies that the author of this article conducted last week have come back with promising results of people's opinions about our little spamming issue. Even though only sixteen people voted in the poll that was posted in the OTD as sticky (start looking for those people!) I can still safely conclude that spamming is not as big of an issue to our members as we all seem to think. Below are the poll results:

Extremely Severe 212.50%Mildly Severe 16.25%Problematic 212.50%Mild and Out of the Way 1275.00%Don't Notice It 00%

As you can see, Mild and Out of the Way dominates in the polls by 75%. Only two members believed it to be Extremely Severe. The poll is now closed and will no longer be taking votes. Please keep an eye for future polls from the RpG AP.

Is Mikodite a Bitch?
The author of this article realized that many of us are probably sick and tired of hearing about this issue, but the RpG AP has decided to go ahead and display the current poll results for this time only. These results were a lot more close to being tied than the above results about spam. It appears that more of us are concerned with bitching than spamming. Gee, that's kind of wierd, don't ya think?

Yes! 930.00%No! 1136.67%Not sure/no comment 1033.33%

As you can see, Mikodite is clearly not a bitch according to the majority of No voters by 36.67%. 10 members voted Not sure/no comment and thus decided not to voice their opinion.

Rice: Mideast Talks Moving Toward Goal
AMMAN, Jordan (AP) -- Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Monday that Mideast peace talks are "moving in the right direction" although she warned Israel that it should stop new settlement activities that could upset progress.

Rice's comments came after she held talks with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at the end of a three-day Mideast mission with the goal of achieving an agreement before President Bush leaves office next January. Earlier Monday, Rice met separately with both the Israeli and Palestinian negotiators in Israel and said that she was impressed by the seriousness of their work.

"I think it's all moving in the right direction," Rice said at a news conference with Abbas, saying that things are proceeding toward the goal of reaching some sort of peace agreement by 2009 that would lead toward the creation of a Palestinian state.

Roleplay Yellow Pages(New Section)

If you wish to advertise your roleplay here, I will let you. Just PM me a link to your roleplay along with a breif description. I will post up to five (5) ads under this section. The first five I get will be the ones posted here. If your roleplay is currently displayed under the Hotest Roleplays section of the article, then I will NOT advertise it. I will PM you a notification of this as these things may happen upon accident and it would be unfair for TWO links to your thread to be posted in ONE article.

1. Against All Odds: The Final Chapter

Join Aerandir, a Cursed Dragonare, on his quest to avenge his family and save a kingdom along with his companions, or join Aaron, The man who stands in Aerandir's way. Based on my work in progress The Dragon elf, I may use your character for my book!

2. A Civil War is still looking for active members.

Its a Naruto-themed Rp. It revolves around the death of Naruto as the Hokage. The village has been segregated and an off-branch has been built near the village where all the Hyuugas have gone.
The Hyuuga clan are the current threat as they have decided to overcome the now leaderless Village.

Letter to the Editor

Now you guys have a chance to voice your opinion through a newsletter!!! wh00t! Just me send a PM titled "Letter to the Editor" and I'll see if I have room to post it in this section. If you wish to anonymously voice your opinion so you're not flamed, then I'll respect your wishes and just say "sent to me by 'anonymous'."

rouge47,

Okay, so my mind has been very screwy lately, so this may be a totally stupid idea, or make no sense in the way I try to explain it. Here goes nothing; I was thinking about the members of rpGuild, and maybe there should be a section where you have like, “Statistics” or whatever, I can't think of the word, but there could be like;

Oldest Active Member:
Highest Post count:
Lowest Post count:

… And the things could change in every issue. Of course they would vary from issue to issue, but they could be as serious as the ones above, or as silly as the ones below;

…I don’t know, it was just an idea that popped into my head that I think would be amusing in the newspaper...webpaper...whatever .

=) ~Ava
Well, Ava, I would first like to thank you for being the first one to send me a letter for my newspaper. I now would like to say that I fully support your idea for the more relaxed and amusing polls. I believe that it would be hard to constantly keep up with a more serious and sophisticated poll that would demand a high level of research and constant knowledge of every member's activity. I will bring your idea up in the Mod Discussion forum.

Not totally related to RP Guild, but something I find interesting and worth possibly having a chattery about. And I think we are mature enough to handle it - if you disagree I understand and will not be upset in the slightest.

Male Pregnancy

Original Article

So here we see the first [male] pregnancy the world has to offer. Something that has been in been in the backs of many peoples minds since Junior was released in 1994. Almost 14 years after The Governors film we finally see reality catching up to Hollywood.

This is arguably not a male pregnancy as the male in question is a female to male transsexual. Of course this in itself is an entirely different debate - for it brings us to a deeper discussion of what it means to be male and female and where that infinitely fine line is to be drawn, something scholars have been arguing about since Aristotle.

Something to think about when you are sitting between posts.
~Anonymous
Well, Anonymous (who is in no way associated with the member, AnonymousKnight), I believe that is definitly an interesting article. Unfortunatly, some of the members here may not be able to cope with the idea of handling a mature discussion like that, but oh well. You're thoughts on the subject are greatly respected.

One-Question Interviews

I sent several one-question interviews to a few randomly selected people (actually I just went to the Who's Online listings and chose the first handful I saw) and a couple of them sent me back some very interesting replies. The question was (and this does relate to the spamming topic above in the Domestic section) Do you believe that spamming in the Off-Topic Discussion forum is becoming out of control?

An anonymous member sent me the following which I was most intrigued by and I believe completely trumps the poll above:

Quote:
Given, that threads like WoD's quiz thread, Rate the signature,Rate the avatar, and a few others all walk a thin line between spam and idle chatter, I can see where it starts to get a little troublesome.

But, threads like Really friggin weird and Random thread and What kind of dumb things do you do? and Me: jackass extrodinaire are all just spam for the sake of spam!

I honestly think that the Mods should be a bit more ontop of things. Yes, I know that sounds a bit harsh, as they are doing super-human type things when it comes to keeping things under control. But with all the big disasters going on(Spamming Incident) the smaller problems/etc have been getting little attention. There are currently three super-moderators with seven moderators here at the forum.
And I think that they should be able to keep a little bit tighter grip on what is spam and what is legitimate conversation.

If a thread has people actually posting, like in the Religion or are generally targeted at a specific problem/ideal/opinion like Wanted: creative and talented writers or How have video games affect your lives? and Interesting places to go Then they are serving a purpose toward helping the community.

All-in-all, I think the problem is moderately severe. But its nothing a couple hours of devoted mod-work could clean up/prevent.

I'm sorry if my words insult any of the hard-working mods who dedicate their time to a bunch of people they've never even met. But I'm only speaking the truth as I see it.

(P.s. I hope anyone who reads this can decipher through my rambling to see my point.)
