Rescuers Struggle to Reach Quake Survivors


BAGHDAD — Iraqi troops pushed deep into Sadr City Tuesday as the Iraqi government sought to establish control over the densely populated Shia enclave in the Iraqi capital.

By midday, Iraqi forces had driven to a key thoroughfare that bisects Sadr City and taken up positions near hospitals, police stations and the political headquarters of Moktada al-Sadr, the rebel cleric. There was no significant resistance and no American ground forces were involved in the operation.


The stage for the operation in Sadr City was set weeks ago. Shiite militias began firing rockets at the Green Zone from Sadr City in late March in response to the offensive in Basra.

As a result, American and Iraqi forces moved into the two southernmost sectors of Sadr City — Thawra and Jamila — to try to stop the rocket firing and assert control. The American military later built a wall along Al Quds streets in an effort to turn these southern areas of Sadr City into a safe zone.

But that left the question of how to regain control of the rest of Sadr City from the militias, who continued to lob rockets and mortars from the area.

Editor's Commentary- This roleplay greatly intrigued me. The title brought me back to an old debate that I've had several times with others and even my own pastor. This thread even got me started on creating a discussion in the OTD and so far, I'm quite amazed to see such philosophical thinking on this site. This is definitely one of the most well set up roleplays that I've seen on this board. The Preface is absolutely captivating and the backstory has set up an adventure that sucked me in like a magnet on speed. I look forward to roleplaying in this particular story and hope that more do too. Hats off to the author - Brivta.

Ok, so basically (if you've seen the movie) the story/plotmap takes place several years later after what happened in the movie, and new generations are starting to appear (ex: Lightning McQueen and Sally may already have children by now) and the main characters are adapting to new changes within the town and province. New issues will arise, such as disasters, mysteries, adventure, and action from Ornament Valley to the racetracks. Of course, I will need some committed members to help make this Rp come alive. I've made things a bit more... shall we say, detailed in certain areas to let the player have a more realistic experience in this roleplay.
