Elyza opened her eyes, looking around the darkness that surrounded her. The mausoleum had fallen apart over the years, but that wouldn't stop her from getting out of the mess. She pushed rocks aside, and climbed out of the rubble, brushing dust from her once beautiful silky dress. The moon lit up the night, making the Nightshade glow like little lanterns. The cemetery was falling apart, as was the wrought iron fence that had solely protected the tombstones from the overgrowth of Nightshade. Climbing over one of the fallen pieces of fence, Elyza set her bare feet upon the flowery field and looked around. It seemed that not a soul was in sight. The town had been left to rot and the history had been forgotten. The family that she once had so long ago was not nothing more than a myth. She sat quietly within the flowers with a sigh, closing her eyes and resting her head upon her knees. The distant glow of a city was miles away, but she didn't intend to go barging in for she had no idea what day and age she lived in. "Adjusting will be difficult." She whispered to herself. She wanted everything to be back to the way it used to.

Vincent was on the move again. He didn't know how the local authorities had come to know of his secret residence within the city walls, but it didn't matter now, he was at least three miles away now, and didn't have any intention of returning soon. The howling of wolves made Vincent think of stopping and making camp, so he built a makeshift fire and set up his tent to rest for the night. He didnt need much sleep, and spent an hour or so polishing his tools and sharpening his knives When Vincent could no longer keep his eyes open, sometime in the middle of the night, he unfolded his bedroll and fell into a deep, dreamless sleep.

Elyza looked up from the fields, she had no idea how long she'd been sitting there staring off, but she had a feeling that it was too long. There was a light scent of smoke in the air and she stood up, as though it were luring her. It was either a forest fire or another creature. Something in the back of her mind hoped that by some chance it were her family, but she wouldn't get her hopes up too high. She came to a small clearing, some ways away from the village, within a clearing of the forest, there was a small campsite. Smoke was rising from some recently snuffed embers that faintly glowed. Elyza crouched and picked up a stick, poking at the embers until a sound alerted her. There was a bundle of cloth upon the ground and it was moving. Cautiously, Elyza approached, cocking her head as she pulled back part of the cloth. Beneath the cloth lay a sleeping man. She pulled back the cloth a little more to see that he was wearing strange attire. Elyza was scared that if she touched him, she would wake him, so she remained still. Her ember colored eyes surveyed him as he slept, wondering who he was and why he was out here alone. Perhaps she could get some answers from him as to where she was in the time line or what happened to the town.

Vincent stirred as some keen sense within him picked up that he was not alone. As his eyes flashed open he found them locked with the ember eyes of a stunning beauty. He found himself locked in place by her stare. Coming back to his senses, the assassin spoke "Who....Wha..." His tongue danced between questions- strange, as he did not normally have trouble speaking. He got to his feet. "Who taught you to tread so softly? I don't know of many souls that can sneak up to me like that."

Elyza smiled softly and placed a cold finger on his lips, "You don't want to draw any unwanted company, speak softly." She whispered and removed her finger, "My silence comes naturally. I smelled the smoke back by the old cemetery in the village. I'd been sitting in the fields when the scent caught me." She sat down, not making a sound as she did so, "Can you tell me what year it is, kind sir?" Elyza spoke quiet enough for him to hear her, but it was as if she didn't even have to try. "I'm afraid I've..." She paused momentarily, not wanting to startle him. She cleared her throat slightly, "Lost track of the days." Unsure that humans knew what vampires were in this day and age, Elyza looked away, her ember colored eyes couldn't be hidden, but she didn't want it to seem obvious that she was not of the living. Though she wished she still was, that was not something she could change. Now she waited in hopes that he would not run away.

Vincent noticed that this girl moved with grace far beyond her years, and, though he hated to admit it, she even surpassed his ability for silence. "The year is 1385." He smiled "For one who moves with such grace, it is a surprise you do not know what year it is." He stepped toward her "but i'm forgetting my manners, I am Vincent, whom should i thank for awakening me from my slumber?" Vincent extended his hand and winked

"Oh dear, no wonder the town is in ruins..." Elyza sighed softly, "I've only just recently..." She paused, thinking for a moment and not wanting to startle him, "...come out of a long coma. Everyone must have forgotten I was even there." Elyza watched as he extended his hand, she hesitated. What if her clammy hands startled him? No human was that cold. What if he was a hunter? She cautiously extended a hand and gripped his, "I'm Elyza, or Elly for short." Human hands were soft and warm, she'd almost forgotten what it was like to be human. Having a heartbeat and a pulse was something she'd lost long ago. She needed to feed, but she could wait for it. Humans weren't as tasty as the wildlife. Though she could feel the pulsation of his veins, she ignored the urge and smiled to him.

Vincent was suprised by the chill her hand sent his. He looked into her eyes, which seemed to stare deep into his soul. and saw them burn like hot coals, and he noticed that she had two sharp looking canines in her mouth. The light of the embers flickered off them His danger sense kicked in and he recoiled from her, hands drawn to the hilts of his blades. "You!..." Myths and Legends he thought, could there really be vampires? "The eyes, the teeth, the cold, could you really be?"

"Please..." Elyza looked at him, "...Don't be afraid of me. If I wanted to hurt you, I would have done so while you were sleeping. I wouldn't have waited for you to wake..." She closed her eyes, "I'm not proud of what I am, you know. It's really nothing more than a burden to me, but I had no choice." She looked down at her hands and clenched them into fists. Angry at herself, Elyza sighed softly, "I can promise you that if your blood was what I wanted, you would not have woke up from your slumber." Her feet remained firmly atop the ground as his were somewhat sunken in. She was almost like a ghost, but she was more of a monster than anything. If he wouldn't listen, then she might as well let him kill her and get it over with. "If killing me is what you wish to do, then show no mercy." She closed her eyes tightly. "It would be what my family would want. A swift death, just as they had faced because of those wretched half-breeds and their frenzy."
