Marv's Tavern was in one of the worst parts of town. It's front door opened into the side of an alley and it's back door led inside another building. The fire code obviously wasn't in effect when the building was built. The customers often went there for a drink or twelve and got drunk. It wasn't the sort of place Haru usually traveled to but it was the place where his martial arts class was located. When he first arrived he was confused until he found out it was the building next to it. The building the which the back door of the tavern led into. Most of the other buildings that surrounded it were vacant. Covered with multi-colored graffiti scars, blocked with plywood in windows and doors. Haru didn't go to the other buildings and tried to stay as far often away from the bar as possible. But sometimes being next door to a room full of drunkards, a confrontation couldn't be avoided. Sometimes a few men stumbled into the students looking for a fight.

A fist slammed against Haru's cheek. His focus on eliminating his opponent prevented him from noticing the impact, his own fist swung out. The man tried to evade but was too slow to avoid the attack. The guy's jaws slammed together with an audible click before he fell to the ground unconscious. Haru wiped his forehead with a hand and released a small breath. Shaking his head, he looked back at the man lying on the ground. The man had simply stumbled out of the bar. It had been obvious he needed some help to get home, but when he tried to assist the guy started to attack him. What was wrong with humans today? He glanced into the sky. When were they going to give him an assignment or something other than waiting around in New York? He turned and started back to the exit of the alley. He had left his backpack by the side wall and picked it up as he went slowly heading back to his car. A street brawl. The perfect end to another day. Yeah, right...

Bearing teeth stained red from a cut on his top lip, the human rushed at Derik, aiming to use his heavier build to smash his adversary into the stone wall behind him. Derik didn't move waiting until the man got close enough before grabbing his neck and slamming his back against the stone. The human's mouth fell open as his air was punched out of his lungs. Derik stared at him with a bored expression. "Killing you would mean nothing to me," he said, tightening his hold until the man had to be having trouble breathing. "Would you like to die?"

"Derik, release the mortal..."

Derik calmly turned to see his new opponent, a hulking figure cloaked in black. His eyes widened. "Master." He his grip loosened as he dropped the human. The man coughed and scrambling quickly to his feet fleeing the scene. Derik ignored him, his attention fixed on the demon before him. "How may I serve you today?" He said bowing.

"I want you to eliminate this girl." The cloaked figure said raising the palm of his hand the image of a young teenage girl appeared.

"Name and location?" Derik asked while staring at her memorizing every feature. He would be able to sense her within a certain area so he only needed an approximate location.

"Luna. New York..."

Luna Grey groaned loudly as she rolled over to shut off her alarm clock that was blaring in her ear. " OKAY GOD!!! " She slapped it off and got up and yawned and rubbed her eyes. " Ugh today is Friday isn't it" She sighed and got in the shower and quickly got dressed. She heard her alarm for work go off and rushed to the kitchen to get her car keys, her kithen was dimly lit at 5:00 a.m. The busy city of New york never slept and it pissed her off. She wished her mom and dad where here. They died two years ago today. She kissed her picture by the door and rushed out into the parking lot to her car and got in and quickly drove off to Le lech Cafe.

A small pillar of flames encircled the sky as a figure materialized. Floating in the air with black wings, Derik coldly scanned the bustling city below. "Luna," He whispered remembering her face. "It won't be long until we meet..." Descending towards a couple of abandoned buildings, he landed in an alley and folded his wings. His eyes closed as he focused on creating an illusion to hide his demonic features. He needed to project himself as a normal human if he was to carry out his search efficiently without complications of human fear. Once he felt the spell settle, he focused on pinpointing the girl he sought. Every mortal had a unique signature, Luna should be no different. He grinned as he felt the spike of energy finding his target. "Soon, very soon..." He said before walking out the alley and down the street.

Haru frowned as he saw the title of the latest article he read in the paper. "Another attack?! That's the third one this week!" Turning the page only revealed more bad news: robberies at an all time high and other crime waves happening around the city. He sighed and threw the paper into the trash bin. "Humans...why can't they get along with one another..." His apartment was rather small. It was on the 12th floor of the building and he had a great view of the city from his balcony. The rooms composed mainly of a kitchen/livingroom and a single bedroom with a bathroom. There wasn't much space to have any parties but it was home to him. At least until he was called upon by his superiors. As he headed into the kitchen to start cooking some breakfast, his cell phone rang. "Who could be calling now?" He muttered before shutting the door of the fridge and going to pick up his cell phone on the table. "Hello?"

"Haru. You have an assignment." An emotionless voice replied.

He tensed recognizing the tone, it was going to be important. "What is it?"

"We need you to protect a girl. Luna Grey. She's living somewhere in your vacinity, therefore it will fall upon you to find her and keep her from harm."

He relaxed. It sounded like an easy enough task, actually it sounded like baby sitting. Something didn't seem right. "Why is she so important?"

"It's classified." The next second the dial tone sounded. Haru click the phone shut. "Alright. Thanks for telling me." He said sarcastically before starting for the door. How was he going to find a single girl in this huge city?

Luna hurrily wrote down the order and put it on the table. She sighed in relief as her shift was almost over. She noted that her shoes were alittle to tight to work here. Today she got off early to go see her parents. She walked out of the diner quickly and opened her car door and go in and paused before she turned on the engine. She layed her head back and looked at the sky it was grey she knew a storm was coming she sighed and started off towards the florists. " Welcome Luna, i got your order today" Said the older women who had been a mother to her since the first day they met, the day her parents died they had been visiting family and when she found out she ran as far as she could till she saw this flower shop and walked inside. She sat in the waiting area when a young women came out of the back and saw her sitting there and offered her a shoulder to cry on. From that day on she came back here ever so often to see her and on days like today the day her parents died.

" Thank you Mrs. Tomley, they look great!" The women gave her a warm smile and hugged her tightly. " I hope that you have a safe trip and sweety do me a favor be careful...there's been reports of attacks" She said looking sad. " I'll be fine Mrs. T...you take care okay ill cya tomarrow!" Luna called while walking off to her car not knowing she was being followed.

Derik watched from the outside window of a local florist shop. He had sensed the girl's presence here and sure enough there she was speaking with the owner of the establishment. Such a normal looking girl. Other than her strange hair color choice, there wasn't anything spectacular about her that seemed to threaten his kind. Why did his master send him to assassinate this particular mortal? He clenched his hands into fists. Never question your superiors was one of the lessons he had learned long ago. Now wasn't the time to go back on it. He lowered the baseball cap on his head to hide the fact he was watching her. Luna hugged the woman. Apparently she meant a lot to the girl. Good, he could perhaps use this information later. Picking up a pot of flowers, he started to examine them intensely as Luna exited the shop. "Disgusting." Derik snarled quietly, his eyes narrowed at the shelf of flowers in front of him. They glowed before instantly turning brown and dead. "Much better." He smiled placing the pot back and slowly followed behind the girl.

"Come on!" Haru shouted as he slammed his fist against a tree at the park. This was about the twentieth location he checked asking for a girl named Luna Grey. How was he suppose to find a single girl in a city as large as New York? Especially when he was given nothing but a name and an in general location of where she was. There wasn't even a list of what he was going to face in protecting her or an image. He slumped against the tree looking towards the sky as if the answer lay in the heavenly body. When nothing appeared to him, his gaze fell meeting the eyes of a woman. Beside her was a young boy and a baby carriage. Their expression a look of shock and horror. Haru gave a nervous chuckle. "Uh...sorry, having a bad day." The mother quickly pushed her children away from him. He sighed. The girl needed to be found soon. It was getting late and the sky was looking ominous. Bad things happened at night. He needed to find her quickly. Exiting the park, he quickly leapt into his car and drove off searching the streets.

Luna drove slowly towards the cemetary. It was getting darker as she went the rain was coming soon. She parked her car, nearing the entrance she shivered. She walked quickly to her mother and fathers graves at the far left side of the wide cemetary. " Mom, Dad.......im glad i got out here okay and im sure you are to...i miss you so much" She said slumping over there graves an putting the flowers between the two stones.
" Dear Lord please help me make it on my own......and please protect me in these strange times of crime and attacks.....Even though when i was young i wished to go with my parents......I want to live my life as my mom and dad would have wanted me to...amen" She let tears fall down her cheeks as the rain started to fall. She stood up and kissed the grave stones and started running towards her car,for the rain had made the cemetary muddy. She toke off her now muddy sneakers and got into her car and put the sneakers on the floor and put her head on the dashboard and weapt. When she saw how dark it was when she looked up she sighed. " Oh no its already eight....im gonna be late!!!!" She reversed and drove out to her second job, the job she wasn't proud of but it payed for collage. She pulled up infront of the tavren and sighed. " I hate this job" She picked up her purse which was full of weapons for perv's waiting for her after work.

The sky continued to grow darker as Derik followed above Luna's car headed for the cemetary. He grinned and trembled in anticipation. Perfect. It was a completely the perfect setting for her death. He landed behind an obelisk and watched as the girl mourned her parent's grave. "Aw, how sweet." Raising his hand, a flash of blue fire appeared. He aimed at the girl. Too absorbed in her memories, she wouldn't notice him until it was too late. A pained tore through his heart, he fell to the ground clutching his chest. What was going on? A minute ago he was completely fine. He glanced at the girl and his eyes grew wide. She wasn't remembering, she was praying. A demon couldn't harm those who were in the middle of a prayer. Derik growled in frustration, Luna didn't know how lucky she was. He was going to paralyzed for awhile. No matter, he would be able to find her again. He had her aura in his sights. The rain started to fall...

Haru's car skidded to a halt at the stop light when he saw the time on the clock. "8:00! Darn it, I'm late for my class!" He glanced at the GPS on his car and sighed in relief. The building was only a few minutes away. If he continued down this road, he would reach the tavern in no time. As he pulled up against the side walk, he quickly grabbed his backpack and rushed into the alley. The rain pelting down his back. Slamming opening the door of the bar he started to the back. 'Alright. I'm going to make it!' He gasped as he felt a spike of energy flow through his body making him pause. There was something here. The girl was here. He looked from one side of the room to the next. But which one was it? One of the waitresses might know. He started for the closest one. "Ex-"

"Haru! There you are! Get in here you can flirt later!"

Haru flinched and looked to the door to see his instructor. He looked at the tavern once more before heading for the next building. After class, he would be able to check. For sure.

Luna rushed into the back to get changed and when she walked out the place was packed. She sighed. " Another night another 50 bucks" She walked over to the bar and grabbed her notebook for orders. She walked over to the first few tables to get there orders. "I'll take you whats your name pretty lady?" Said an older man dressed in all black. " I'm not on the menu...now please tell me your order sir..and if its girls you want then you should try down the street an to your left" She smirked as the man frowned and ordered as his friends snickered behind him sipping on the beers. She walked off to the bar and placed there order. " So luna hows your day been? " Asked the bar tender. " Oh its fine, todays the day Mike" She said looking at him with sad eyes. He frowned and handed her a bottled water. " Here, your gonna need it tonights gonna be loud...and sweety if you need anything...you let me know" Mike had been her dads old student.

He was gonna be a lawyer till her told lunas father that he wanted to own his own bar. His parents disowned him and he did what he set out to do, he was luna's make shift dad , he gave her a under the table joba and it paid well, you'd never see a sixteen year old girl in a bar. As the clock struck Three , the bar was closed. Luna sighed in relief as she waved to mike on her way out of the bar. She saw that the parking lot was empty except for her car and mike's. " Thank goodness i didn't feel like fighting for my life tonight" She walked fast anyway to her car.

Derik's eyes narrowed as he caught sight of his target. After he had recovered from being paralyzed, he had managed to follow her energy signature leading into this bar. But with all the humans nearby he couldn't make any move...Until now. The tavern was empty. Witnesses and all other humans gone. This time he wouldn't fail, he wouldn't give the girl a chance to pray for mercy or for anything. A small chuckle escaped his lips at seeing the girl hurrying to her car. She wasn't going to make it. Leaping over the side of the roof top, he landed perfectly in front of Luna surprising her. "Well now, where are you off to in such a hurry?" He asked grinning wickedly. Waving an arm he sent her flying back against a wall. He glanced at the girl's car behind him and snapped his fingers sending an explosion echoing through the parking lot. "No escaping by car. Now would you like to die now or die a few seconds from now?"

Luna felt weak she reached up to her head and felt somthing trickle down her fingers she saw blood. She knew she had to do something....all she could think about was her parents. She started to pray that she'd be with them soon she put her hand on her cross around her neck and breathed heavy as she stood up and shook it off and she knew she had only one chance, to get into the tavern fast. She stumbbled a bit then she looked at him and darted for the door as mike was walking out. " MIKE HELP ME!!!" She screamed.
