Advanced A theoretical offbeat roleplay

Effective title is "Descent into Chaos." Could change. This has nothing to do with the movie "Watchmen." I actually came up with the Watchman name from a sub-class in the game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2. There's a good lot of Star Wars inspiration here.

This is meant to be an advanced roleplay.

-------

Unknown to most, there are many parallel universes. So many, in fact, that there are literally an infinite number of realities, all similar to ours yet different in their paths. Such is known at the Continuum, to those privy to it. But few know this name, and fewer have any knowledge of its workings. Subject to this rule, Earth was paralleled many times across existence. One such parallel was home to a world stuck in a perpetual advancement loop, permanently fixed on a Medieval level of technology. This continued on for many ages, with only moderate advances.

On this Earth, a secretive order of righteous guardians took power after the dawn of civilization, albeit somewhat passively. The Order of the Watchmen of the 11th Hour, or the Watchman Order, upheld the law and were the guardians of peace throughout the world. They resided primarily in the land of Telfar, the ancient capital of Earth. It was the effective head of civilization, the pinnacle of technology; the civilized world looked to Telfar for its guidance. For centuries, Telfarian kings held the reins of power, governing justly and directly within their own borders and exerting a massive influence on other nearby nations. Each king swore an oath, required by the semi-constitutional monarchy of Telfar: he was to uphold every law, could not repeal his own decrees, and was to do everything in his power to resist the Kresk.

The Kresk were a species of bat-like humanoids residing in Avlagsendor, the lands considered evil. This region lay nearly a thousand miles to the east of Telfar, many nations and geographical features safely between them. Since the dawn of civilization and even time itself, the Kresk fought a near-constant war against the peoples of Telfar and any other humans that allied with them. The conflict went back far enough that few even realized what it was about and assumed the Kresk to merely be warring for the sake of battle. The true conflict was about the Watchmen, and the nations they had founded in their wake.

Roughly five thousand years after the birth of Telfarian civilization, the Kresk performed a series of daring wars, striking at the heart of Telfar by flying in on newly-tamed creatures capable of long-distance flight. No standing army was present in the Telfar capital, as the Kresk were presumed incapable of central-targeted attacks. Consequently, the Watchmen rushed to defend their homeland. The ensuing battle claimed the lives of over four thousand Watchmen and brought a bloody, costly victory for the Telfarians.

Within a decade, the Watchmen were at an unknown sum, their strength reduced to almost nothing by constant warring on the border by Kresk raiders arriving from the wilds. Scattered, hiding, and unwilling to serve their homeland any further for many reasons, few remained active; a dozen were still serving within the royal court's sphere of influence. Even they could not offer any direct help for what was coming, however: the king was dying. With a son in a legalistic situation preventing his ascenion to the throne, no effective leader could take the helm when the king died. With his last weeks in sight, the king summoned his bravest messengers and sent them to bring him the remaining Watchmen capable of service and the greatest warriors in the civilized world. They were to be sent on a joint mission to cripple or utterly destroy the Kresk empire at any cost.

=======

So...how's it sound?

Yes a speedreader. And for one I'm not one of those ones. A lot of people say speed readers don't understand what they read. I purposely stop at each chapter and make sure I know what is going on. Even ask myself question.

Alright. This is advanced, remember. The other one first of all lacked quality in my opinion, and I didn't have enough background. I know exactly where this one should go.
