Default Endless Forest

Trees: Some have lived long enough to see the beginnings of mankind, while some were placed there as a result of it. There is no place to be found without life on the planet of Yrul (E-Rawl); across the entire planet stretches an endless amount of forest, filled with every sort of life form imaginable. Scattered among the vast sea of green are small towns settled by humans. Most of these settlements act as very docile societies. They live at peace with the forests, building their homes within the trees instead of destroying them. The townsfolk pass through life without much adversity, most of them being gatherers. If a traveler were to pass through town lost and injured, the townsfolk would offer him or her a bed and food, and then point him or her in the right direction.

Unfortunately, not all of Yrul is as peaceful as the small human settlements. Although it is exaggerated greatly, a general rule of thumb exists among travelers: Make it to a settlement by nightfall, or else. Howls and other menacing calls often echo from the trees at night, rooting this rule into the mind of anyone even considering leaving a town. However, forest-bound ghouls and monsters are not the only threat to travelers. Dozens of small gangs of highwaymen and muggers take residence among the trees. It unwise to travel alone and unarmed, as you will make a nice target for the gangs.

Technology: The land of Yrul usually does not make any technological advancements unless it is vital to the people's survival. Violence among the settlements is very rare, but each town has at least one blacksmith and armory filled with swords and armor should a need for protection ever arrive. With the use of simple magic, machines and other industrial inventions are not needed, so the people managed to keep their air and environment as pure as the day mankind arrived on the planet. So, for the most part, Yrul's technology is fairly primitive. The only exception to this being the harnessing of radiowaves. In an attempt to keep communication between settlements easy, the people of Yrul have crafted both hand-held and stationed radios. The small hand-held radios are favored by many travelers as they can be used to locate the nearest settlement.

Plot: Although there is no established religion on the planet of Yrul, there is a belief that is almost globally accepted: A single energy force exists somewhere on the planet. This force supposedly guides the planet, assuring that life can exist without chaos. It is said that long ago the planet was a barren wasteland. However, at some point this energy came to the planet, bringing with it the seeds of the oldest life on the planet. These seeds would be spread throughout the wasteland, quickly transforming the barren planet into one,large,unified forest. Although the story differs depending on who you're hearing it from, one fact remains the same: There were ten seeds in total, each giving life to one grand tree. The energy force blessed these trees with intelligence, as well as the ability to spread their own seeds, effectively populating the planet. However, much of the old story has been lost over generations, and much is left unknown.

For hundreds of thousands of years the planet was slowly nurtured to prosperity. That is, until mankind arrived. Although some manners of scientific study have proposed theories as to how and when humans appeared on Yrul, it still remains a mystery. As stated before, most settlements live at peace with nature, adapting to it rather than destroying it. Unfortunately, not all the humans of Yrul fell into the peaceful category. About one thousand years after the settlements started popping up around the globe an event, referred to as The Great Separation, occurred that would change the fate of the world forever.

Mankind's natural mentality was to live with nature, to be part of it. However, not all men agreed with this philosophy. Battles were fought and for the first time in history mens' lives were claimed in combat. After the wars were over, it was obvious that could be no diplomacy. And so two sides were left standing:The Naturalists, those living at peace with nature, and the Others, those who inflict their will upon nature. There were no more battles, no more wars. The Others left with bitter feelings, retreating far into the forests, to rarely be heard from again.

In that moment, when mankind separated into the two groups, the energy force was stricken by a blow that it would never recover from. It's force slowly grew weaker from that point, as did the grand trees. Every thousand of years of so a grand tree would pass away, and a section of life would disappear from the planet with it. It has now been forty thousand years since The Great Separation and the last grand tree has died. The previous nine deaths had gone almost unnoticed, but the tenth had a much more blatant effect. At once the forests began to appear weaker, more trees began to wither away each day. Not only that, but the people of Yrul have began to fall ill to mysterious, new illnesses. The life of this planet is fading, and it up to you to stop it.



Please bear in mind that this will be my first RP on this site, so I may need a bit of help in certain areas. But before we worry about all of this, lets see how many people are interested.

Character Sheet
Name: Izek Klem
Age: 17
Sex: Male
Appearance: Izek is nearly six feet tall, with light-skin due often being shielding by the canopies of trees. He keeps his somewhat curly, brown hair to the middle of his back; often tying it into a ponytail. His face shows many sharp features, complementing his set of piercing, green eyes.
Bio: Izek is originally from one of the smaller settlements, not found on any official maps. Raised by his Uncle and Mother, Izek was taught the basics of melee combat and magic. The latter being heavily protested by his mother. Upon turning fifteen, Izek inherited a radio and other traveler equipment from his father, who had died of heart conditions when he was young.
Personality: Izek is sort of the quiet type among new acquaintances. And despite his lack of official schooling, Izek displays a bit of intelligence from time to time. He is a soft-spoken individual, but if he has an opinion on the matter he will voice it.
Equipment: Izek often prefers to travel lightly, only taking small food rations, his sword, and a radio.
Magic Abilities: Trained by his Uncle, Izek's magic spans over a few elements. His primary element is Nature, followed closely by Earth and Wind.

Okay

First off

Character sheets go in the OOC, NOT THE INTEREST check, caps not cause I'm shouting but for emphasis

Second, your not going to attract ANYONE without a plot, again, emphasis

Thirdly...looks pretty good so far, come up with a plot and I might join

I was just posting the character sheet so that people could work on their character while waiting for more people to join. I've been thinking about a plot for a bit now, and I will attempt to get the barebones of it posted by tonight or tomorrow morning.

Okay, I have updated the plot. I felt very weird while typing it, scatterbrained. If something seems really weird or you would like to add anything to the plot please let me know.

Yes, I talk briefly about Magic in the technology section. It's really pretty basically and generic magic, no gimmicks.
