I have no exact details on how the plot should go, and I just switched pages by accident so the hour of work i just typed out went bye bye...

Theres a bit of information I have to pass out first, but I need help coming up with the actual story line.
So this is during this time, and while there is a high populace of people, known as Arcani (if you can come up with a better name, I have no problem with it. Suggest it.) have abilities to control the elements. Now it will either be 10 or 12 elements, and there can be any number of people useing any element for all I care at the moment. Everyone will have an affinity for a certain element, making them mroe masterful in their use of it as opposed to the others. Each Arcani can "move" and "use" each element but in a more general way as opposed to specific actions.

There are three types of elements: Primary, Secondary, and Balance. The Secondary are aligned with the Primary above them. Primary elements were the ones first discovered and the most common in the world, and were not thought of having extensions. That has changed in the most recent half a century, as they became decently common thanks to humanities actions on the world.
Primary: Earth, Fire, Air, Water
Secondary: Mineral, Lightning, Toxin, Ice
Balance: Light and Dark, and if used, Time and Space. I am not sure if I can get them to work without being overpowered.

Each element is defined in a certain way:
Earth - The living earth itself, from vegetation to soil. Most "soft" parts of the ground are covered in this section. Its a strong element, and is also useful in cultivating and has even strength with Mineral to gems, crystals, sand, and other rocklike substances.
Fire - A powerful and direct element, its color shows the intensity of the flame from red/orange to blue to white (If I'm missing any, please let me know). Fire can be created by the body itself, but is easier to use it from a source. Being made partially from fire, magma and lava are both possible to control, but are part of Earth also.
Air - A defensive form, it is calm and free. Surrounding the entire Earth, it is always accessible. While Air is seen as clean, Toxin would be considered dirty.
Water - Flexible and ever-changing, this element and the one of Ice are the two closest related since they are both made of the same molecules. Because of this the difference between the two is defined more in the movements of the wielder then the substance itself.
Mineral - The dead earth, from metals to ores. this element is formed of the 'hard' earth. Its a enduring element, and is also useful in building and smithing. It has nuetral strength to Earth in the area of gems, crystals, sand, and other rocklike substances.
Lightning - A dangerous and fast element, its color shows the intensity of its power, from yellow to blue to white (If I'm missing any, please let me know). Lightning can be created from something as simple as a battery or outlet. It is known as the deadly fire.
Toxin - A elusive form, it is fleeting and harmful. It is becoming as common as air, from smog, acid rain, and smoke to poisonus materials. While Toxn is the dirty breath of the world, Air is the clean breath.
Ice - Rigid and cold, this element and water are the two closest related since they are both made of the same molecules. The difference between the two is defined more in the movements of the wielder then the substance itself.
Light - Strong and bright, light is manipulated in many forms, using techniques more realated to fire and lightning. It can be used to a near solid state as a weapon/barrier, or used to make an illusion by refracting light. The illusions look completely realistic, but of the highest difficulty to make solid/cloning an object or person. It and darkness circle each other eternally in both positive and negative ways, depending on the weilder.
Dark - Darkness is used like Toxin and water, shifting and cold. The strength of darkness can be used in stealth with ease, helping hush steps and disguise the body. The clones made with darkness are solid, but not nearly as perfectly replicated as the ones of light.
Time - (Help?)
Space - (Help?)

Earth => Foilage and Soil => Gems, Sand, and Rocks <= Metals and Ores<=Mineral
Fire => Red/Orange=> Blue=> White<= Blue<= Yellow<= Lightning
Air =>Wind and Breeze=>Tornados==Acid Rain<= Smog and Smoke<= Toxin
Water =>Rail=>Slush<=Hail<= Ice
Light ==== Dark
Time ==== Space

The Primary and Secondary are related to other elements in certain ways: The Affinty element has its: Opposite, Partner, Assist, and Hinder. I will put it in mathmatical terms also if that will help people figure it out i general use was 1.
Affinity: Easiest to use, abe to weild in very specific ways. 1 x 8
Opposite: Hardest to use. Uses in the most general ways. 1 x 1/4
Partner: Second easiest to use. Can get fancy with it without strain. 1 x 4
Assist: Third easiest to use. Able to weild easily. 1 x 2
Hinder: Second hardest to use and requires a decent amount of prowess to be useful. 1 x 1/2
Norms: All the others are equal to 1, an average amountof strength to be able to us in a general way.

Affinty : Opposite, Partner, Assist, and Hinder.
Earth : Air, Mineral, Water, Fire.
Fire : Water, Lightning, Air, Earth.
Air: Earth, Toxin, Fire, Water.
Water : Fire, Ice, Earth, Air.

Mineral : Toxin, Earth, Ice, Lightning.
Lightning : Ice, Fire, Toxin, Mineral.
Toxin : Mineral, Air, Lightning, Ice.
Ice : Lightning, Water, Mineral, Toxin.

The Affnities of Balance elements have two Assists and two Hinders.
Affinity: Opposite, Assists, and Hinders.
Light : Dark, Fire and Air, Earth and Water.
Dark : Light, Earth and Water, Fire and Air.
Time : Space, Lightning and Toxin, Mineral and Ice.
Space : Time, Mineral and Ice,Lightning and Toxin.

There are also four lands for each of the primary elements. The reason is that each of them had been on the planet and used by humans longer than the others. There is Avalon, the land of Earth, growing and prosperous. It is between Ireland and Iceland. Main humanoid figure is Elves and secondary is Centaurs. Atlantis is the underwater continent of Water. It is below the Equator and east of Brazil. The Main humanoid is Merpeople and Naiads are the secondary. Inside the Volcano of Mauna Loa is the land of Fire, where the main population is of people called Agnine, people made of what looks like molten rock, and Ifrit as the secondary. The Avians, people who grow wings from their back, and Harpies, who grow wings from their arms and have claws, live in and above the Bermuda triangle. In the twisted land, tornados protect the land from others as they live in the cumulonimbus clouds above.

So any additional ideas for characters, plots, or whatever would be helpful toward starting an RP.

Its been the basic idea for a big r.p. for nearly 2 years. Never had enough storyline detail to put it into play.

i'd like to know more information on who we can play and what era its set in, it is interesting i have to say.

Its set now, literally it could be today's date, but it would be within a year of what time it currently is. And the character's I have designed are going to be in a book im trying to write and I dont really want to use them accept maybe some extra information about them?

Haha. I'm writing a book, something I've been doing in my spare time. I just wanted to try out the ideas of the world in an rp so I could see things in action. I don't want to give to many detail so people can have more freedom and can make a plot themselves to see what kind of stories come to mind. I could write out the whole story if I wanted but that doesn't get me any help from others.
