Default Bioshock: New Rapture

OOC Here

(Note: A little bit of background knowledge of the Bioshock universe is useful for this RP, as there’s quite a bit of explaining to do otherwise! I am also looking for individuals who will be, above all, dedicated to this RP. It’s not going to be a short one, if everything works out. I’d like to see at least three parts out of this. Ambitious, I know! Please read EVERYTHING, follow general RP rules, and I’ll be a happy GM)

Dr. Lewis Emanuel. Personal log, fifteenth day of exploration.

This city is absolutely amazing… Rough around the edges, yes, but the fact that such a place existed! Who would have thought that, even in the primitive ages that were the late fifties, such marvels as automated turrets, camera systems, life support systems, all these technical achievements were possible? This… Andrew Ryan, whoever this man was, he was certainly ambitious. Building a city not only under the ocean, but directly on the bottom of it. Powered by the geothermal vents, advanced AI systems directing everything, it’s all simply amazing. I can’t get my mind around it—plus, all this talk of genetic modification… It’s a shame we didn’t discover this place sooner.

We’ve completely mapped out each tunnel, access way, and corridor that exists in this city. With the assistance of the Mothers, we’ve learned all that once was here… Now, however, just about everything is rotting and gone. Perfect for remodeling. Construction has moved along at a steady pace, despite the objections from the Mothers. Something about the horrors experienced down here just paralyzes them. It’s to be expected, I suppose, considering their backgrounds, but they constantly warn us about getting our hands caught in the… What did they call it? Oh yes, the “Great Chain.”

Truly the most disturbing thing down here are the disfigured bodies of those giant beasts… I was touring with one of the calmer Mothers and she suddenly became affixed to the body of one, cuddling it like a giant teddy bear, mumbling, “Mr. Bubbles…” Over and over. I think that’s scarier than all of the blood around the place.

Dr. Lewis Emmanuel. Personal log, thirtieth day.

Rapture has been restored. Of course, the security systems, energy core, all that; it’s all been updated with this day’s materials. For example, we’ve replaced most of the glass tunnels with plexiglass and carbon fiber tubes. It makes the view a little less clear, but it’s quite stronger than the previous pieces. On the outside though, everything still carries that late nineties vibe… I’ve personally selected the committee of scientists and well-minded individuals that will be part of this venture, the resurrection of Rapture… Heh, now there’s some fun word play.

We will be opening the place up in another month, following the ideals of Andrew Ryan to create a completely Objectivist society away from the troubles above. Yes, we’re going to try and avoid the mistakes of the past… We will make the perfect life for everyone down here, without those gigantic monsters or gene splicing or… Anything that dangerous.

*****

A timeline of events:

1959: Rapture falls to the plague of the Splicers; Narrator (Jack) defeats Frank Fontaine and liberates the Little Sisters.
1969: Records lost. Indicate that a resurgence of Splicers occurred, and that Rapture decayed some more, but information doesn’t really exist for this era.*
2005: Remnants of Rapture rediscovered thanks to the deathbed confessions of Jack and his command for the Mothers to reveal Rapture.
2006: Funds come in; remodeling project begins.
2010: Dr. Emanuel, one of the most highly regarded biological and political minds in the world, is sent to Rapture to “Get a feel” for the new place. Eventually opens up Rapture on October 27, inviting only the best minds to the world at the bottom of the sea. You, dear reader, are one of these individuals.

*Cheap copout; Bioshock 2 comes out on Tuesday!

Interest?

Yeah, Interested.

I'll be 100% honest: I won't be able to stick with it until the end, but I can until my hypothetical character's death. That sound good?

I loved the whole idea behind the Bioshock world. This sounds great. I'm in if there's space.
