Listen, I live in Germany, and the cannibalism thing was never legal trust me...and gas prices in nüumberg are a bitch, seriously 5.00€ per gallon..geez

Anyway I'm reading the Karen Traviss series Republic Commando...I read the Legacy of the force 9 book series and decided i was curious about the roots of characters like Venku and Gotab, so i bought those books, im on book 2

Gas is too expensive everywhere. I hope people start using more alternatives because it'd be better and cheaper. The world can be a great or terrible place depending on many things.

'On January 30, 2004, Meiwes was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to eight and a half years in prison. The case attracted considerable media attention and led to a debate over whether Meiwes could be convicted at all, given that Bernd Jürgen Brandes had voluntarily and knowingly participated in the act; there were also complications as cannibalism itself was not illegal in Germany at the time.'

Quoted from wikipedia. You were saying?

This is a silly argument. And not related to the topic of books, really.

Plus I question whether Wiki is that great of a source.

In any case, now I'm curious about The Ranger's Apprentice. What's it about? ...a ranger's apprentice?

to close the arguement i must slightly concede

Yes you are right, voluntary cannibalism not resulting in permanent damage or murder was legal, if in the situation a hand was eaten, regardless of the voluteering, you would be charged, so in a way we are both right....

ranger's apprentice is a very good book, a read it 2 years ago...It's by john flanagan and its about a boy named Will? im not 100% sure my name memry is right and they try to keep Arulen? (sp) safe from invaders

Anyway will is an orphan who takes apprenticeship under a master ranger Halt

Tamora Pierce's "Circle" quartets and the standalones set afterwards. Again, kid books, but very good reads nonetheless.

I've been out of school less than a month but I've already read a ridiculous amount. A surprising amount of it was comic books, which my friend said doesn't count, but honestly, anyone who thinks graphic novels and the like can't count as legitimate literature needs to pick up Alan Moore's Watchmen. Brilliance in pen and ink.

I'm going to the library tomorrow. I really, really want to find me some good religious fiction. I am so in the mood for biblical fiction right now, a la The Red Tent, or even religious conspiracy stuff, like Dan Brown's junk. Anyone know anything good?
