Hanako was walking along a lush forest trail, humming a tune. The tune was light and merry; it reflected her mood at the time. Around her, plants shifted and curved along with her music. Suddenly she felt a presence behind her, and stopped humming. The plants ceased moving, echoing Hanako’s tension. As Hanako turned around, she caught sight of a shadow, apparently looking at her. The shadow quickly disappeared, leaving Hanako feeling uneasy. Thoughts of the feared Akatsuki filled her mind as she continued her way through the forest. It couldn’t be an Akatsuki member. Hanako thought nervously. They went into hiding years ago. Why would they want to come out now? Still, Hanako quickly made her way back to her temporary camp. As she cooked her dinner, she murmured to herself, “Best not to take any chances. I should move my camp again tomorrow.” After dinner, Hanako went to bed, thoughts of the day’s occurrences in her mind until she fell asleep.

I decided to make a roleplay on this site, and I put it in the beginner’s section to see if it would work. This is a Naruto roleplay, for any of you who are familiar with that anime.
Anyway, here is the plot.

It is the time a bit before the Chunin exams, and for the most part there is peace among the five villages. However, the Akatsuki is on the rise, unknown to the communities. What are they plotting, and why have they come out of hiding so suddenly?


You may be a ninja in any of the five villages- Village Hidden in the Leaves, Village Hidden in the Mist, Village Hidden in the Stones, Village Hidden in the Sand, or Village Hidden in the Clouds- or make up your own! (I need to approve this first, however.) Of course, you can also be a rogue or a lone ninja. Also, for a limited time, you can make an application to be an Akatsuki member! This is partly a first-come-first-serve basis, but you are more likely to be chosen if you have a well-rounded character and a good, descriptive application (which we’ll get to shortly).

Note: Please do not make a ultra powerful uber-character. Not only does this take away from the fun of the roleplay, but it is extremely unfair. I’m not saying that a Genin is going to be the same skill level as an Akatsuki member, but please give your character some weak points. For instance, if your character is big and muscular, he or she isn’t going to be very fast.

I know it’s a lot, but this will make for a more detailed character.

For those of you who haven’t seen much of the show Naruto, or just want a bit of an explanation, here is what I mean by each category.

Name: I would prefer it to be Japanese, so feel free to search up names on the internet.
Age: Obvious.
Gender: Male or female?
Personality: Also obvious.
Clothes: Almost anything goes.
Appearance: Just describe what your character looks like.
Weapon: What your character uses to fight.
Weapon Description: Does your weapon have any special attributes or purposes? List them here.
Village: You can pick any of the villages in the post above, make up your own village, be a rouge ninja, or be a ninja without a village. Choice is yours.
Clan: This is just if you have one. It is like a last name, it identifies which “family” you belong to. Usually each clan has specific abilities; feel free to make up your own.
Character’s Rank: This is your character’s skill level. D is the lowest, then C, B, A, and S. S rank is for an extremely skilled ninja.
Kekkei Genkai (description): This means “bloodline trait”, or abilities that are passed down from generation to generation. If you know Haku in the anime, that is an example of a Kekkei Genkai. So is Sasuke’s Sharingan.
Main Jutsu Type(s): Look down one category.
Justu List: These are ninja arts. There are basically three types: Taijutsus, or physical arts, Ninjutsus, or stealth arts, and Genjutsus, or illusionary arts. Want an example for each? Ok. Rock Lee’s Primary Lotus is a Taijutsu, Naruto’s Shadow Clone Jutsu is a Ninjutsu, and Kakashi’s Death Mirage Jutsu is a Genjutsu.
Jutsu Description: Just describe what your Jutsu does here, what rank it is (again, D, C, B, A, or S), and the amount of chakra (internal energy) it uses.
Short History: Just give us a background on your character. One or two lines are all you need, but of course you can make it longer.
Anything Else: If there is anything else on your character that you want me to know, just put it here.

Now for the all important rules!

Rules:

-Don’t flame other players. If there is a problem, you can PM me.
-Please don’t start posting until your application is approved by me! If I don’t approve your character, I'll PM you with what I would like you to change.
-No godmodding!
-Keep any romance PG-13
-If your character gets into a fight, please get hit by your opponent’s attacks about 60-70% of the time. Don’t go calculating it; just know that you can’t dodge every single attack.
-You cannot be a character from the anime, but you can be in one of the clans. (Aburame, Hyuga, etc.) I might allow you to be one of the Akatsuki members from the anime/manga. (This is because the regular characters are controled by everyone. If you want to be a specific Akatsuki member, just ask me. Or you can make up your own.)

Alright, here is my character application. This will probably look familiar to some of you; I have decided to use my character from a previous roleplay.

Name: Hanako
Age: 13
Gender: Female
Personality: Very quiet and thoughtful when alone, but warm with other people.
Clothes: Hanako has a simple olive green colored skirt that reaches to her knees and a chocolate brown vest. Over this she wears a long cloak/cape with a hood for bad weather, and also to hide her face.
Appearance: She has brown eyes with flecks of green in them, and long, light brown hair that is usually tied back. Her build is slender, and she is quick and agile.
Weapon: Hanako mostly uses her Kekkei Genkai for fighting, but she does have a whip make out of a willow branch for desperate situations.
Weapon Description: (For description of her bloodline trait, look in the Kekkei Genkai section.)
Willow Whip: This is a whip made from many sections of a willow branch held together by a chakra string. In the gap between each segment there are two slender knives that look like willow leaves. These can be retracted for a normal whip, or be put out for more damage.
Village: None, she wanders.
Clan: None, this is explained in the Short History category.
Character’s Rank: She is not part of a village, but her skills are around the B or A ranked level.
Kekkei Genkai (description): Hanako has the ability to control plants (i.e. make them grow at a much faster rate then normal, twist into whatever shape she chooses, etc.)
Justu List: Leaf blades. More to be discovered in the roleplay!
Jutsu Description: Leaves become rigid and sharp on their edges. Hanako can then throw then like kunai and shuriken, depending on their shape.
Short History: Hanako is the last surviving member of a forgotten clan. As no one knows the name of this clan, her last name is unknown. Hanako does not remember her parents and has no family, so she has spent her life traveling around the villages.
Anything Else: Nope.

Weapon Description:
Shiro Akuma (White Demon) is a half of the twin blades of balance handed down by the Shinzui clan. It is snow white and useless without its sister blade, Kuro Tenshi.
Kuro Tenshi (Black Angel) is the second half of the twin blades of balance handed down by the Shinzui clan. It is black as night and useless without its sister blade, Shiro Akuma.
Twin Blades of Balance - harnesses chakra to create extreme strength and attack power

Kekkei Genkai (description): The ability to control and harness the spirits of the dead for attack, reconnaisance, and more.

Jutsu Description:
Iron Lotus - (Taijutsu) Target is thrown in a flip where the user's feet flick past the throat, using concentrated chakra as a blade for lethal effect.
Grave Thrust - (Taijutsu) Weapon/palm/anything else is thrust at the ground with such force that the ground caves in, creating a crater
Spirits' Cry - (Ninjutsu, kekkeigenkai required) User emits a wail that can cause intense pain to the victims, may also cause death.
Short History: Ryutsuki was raised to the age of five in a small unnamed village, then a band of rogue ninja attacked and killed everyone. Only he survived. He was found, his eyes sliced and half dead in a pool of his own blood by a ninja of Konoha who adopted him. That ninja died on a mission and Ryutsuki now lives by himself, learning the abilities of his clan through various ancestral spirits.
Anything Else: Ryutsuki is blind, but he can see from a third-person perspective through use of a relative's spirit.

Ryutsuki sat against a wall, "Tch, Gramps... why is the Hokage still not able to recognize my ability to see despite the loss of my eyes?" he said as if to the sky, but that's where his grandfather's spirit was hovering.

Go, prove it, prove you can see through me, in fact. Let's go get a mission now... the voice echoed through Ryutsuki's ears alone, only he could understand spirits. He could see them too, he didn't need his sight to see where they were.

"And I suppose you've forgotten that it's the middle of the night? Do ghosts get alzheimers?" Ryutsuki said, that last part towards himself. He yawned and stretched, then moved from the wall outside his house to the window sill, "I'll do it in the morning..."

Hanako leaned against a large tree, apparently asleep. In reality she was looking at the region's geography through the network of roots in the forest. Finally Hanako opened her eyes and thought about what her next move should be. I shouldn't stay to long in this area. Hanako thought. In all of the villages I've passed through, there has been more talk of rogue ninjas. And then there was that shadow in the forest. Yes, it would be much safer to keep moving. Rather than wait out the night, Hanako decided to pack her bag and walk along the forest path. After gathering her things, Hanako put on her cape and pulled the hood over her head to conceal her eyes. Then she set off into the dark forest.

After a short amount of walking, Hanako came to a huge town. "This must be the Village Hidden in the Leaves," she murmured. "Perhaps I can find lodging and food here. It's bound to be safer from rogues than in the forest." As Hanako walked the streets, she watched for any hint of danger. Although the town was peaceful, Hanako was still uneasy from the occurence in the forest earlier in the day. She finally came to a ramen shop that was still open despite the time of night. She sat down and asked for a bowl of ramen. While it was being made, Hanako pulled back her hood and asked about the going ons of the Village. "Not much," said the owner as he set down a bowl of ramen in front of her. "Though the Chunin Exam is going to take place soon. We'll probably have all sorts of ninja arriving here shortly, from all over the place, too." "Hmm..." Hanako made a noise that showed she was interested as she ate some noodles. After swallowing, she asked "How come there has been so much talk of rogue ninjas in the five villages? I mean, have they just sprung up or something?" The owner sighed. "I'm not sure. There have been so many rumors going around. I even heard some gossip today that the Akatsuki themselves have come out of hiding. I'm not sure what to think anymore." Hanako started when he mentioned the Akatsuki, but merely said "I see..." and finished her ramen. After paying for her meal, Hanako went to look for lodging for the night. She found some and quickly settled in to her room. Though she tried to fall asleep, Hanako was too exited from the day's incidents and just stared out of the window at the stars for most of the night.

Ryutsuki stretched, yawned, and fell into his room. Then he remembered, "Crap! Chuunin exams are in a week! And I'm still not on a team... dammit... the team I was with got cocky and then impaled... what was the ninja's name... Za-something... oh well. I need to train...." he muttered to himself, he looked outside. The sun was rising.

Ryutsuki got up from the floor he had fallen to and strapped on his sandals, then he leapt out of his window and made his way to the Hokage's office. He didn't bother knocking or even opening the door. "Shinzui Sanpo no Jutsu.." he muttered, then walked through the door. "Hokage, I want to be in a team, and just to prove that I can see better than anyone here... The top left book on the shelf, Hand-signs for simpletons. The bottom right, wow... that's pathetic... If you give a ninja a shuriken... that's a kid book... Oh, and, on your desk, the top paper says something along the lines of there being a sensei who's open for a team. Tada. Oh yeah, someone's coming." he said, now getting obsessive about the details...

As Hanako walked the hall to the Hokage's office, she thought of how to phrase her request. She was worried that the Hokage would not give her permission, as she was not a Leaf ninja and she did not belong to a village. Finally she reached the Hokage's office and knocked softly. "Come in," said a voice, that of the Hokage's. Hanako took a deep breath and entered. Her first reaction was dismay, as there was another Leaf ninja in the room. "Is this a bad time...?" she asked, hoping that she could come back when there was no one but the Hokage to hear her. "No, this is fine. What can I help you with? I see you are not a Leaf ninja." Hanako paused, and encouraged by the friendliness of the Hokage, said "My name is Hanako. I was wondering if you would give me permission to take part in the Chunin exams. I don't have a village and I'm not part of a squad, but I want to hone my skills as a ninja. Is there any way I could be included in the exam?" The Hokage laced his fingers and thought for a moment. "Hmm... Ryutsuki here-" he said, indicating the other ninja in the room, "does not have a squad either. And he has proven to me that he is quite ready for the Chunnin exam. Perhaps you could be on a squad together? Of course, you would need one more person for a squad. If that is fine with Ryutsuki, I can put you on a temporary squad together, officially so that you can enter the Chunin exams." Hanako's heart soared at the words, only to be grounded again when she realized she did not know the other ninja. Still, it was an opportunity she was willing to take, and so she waited silently for Ryutsuki's answer.
