John quickly made his way through the gray corridors to the hangar, identified his platoon's pelican, and got in. He saluted to the sergeant, cleared his throat, and said, "Lance Corporal John Hart reporting for duty, sir. Honor to work with you, sir." Without waiting for a response, he sat and strapped himself in. He looked up when a Private First Class asked, "Ever killed a Covie bastard?"
John sat for a minute, then replied, "No. I got promoted to Lance Corporal due to my dashing appearance and brilliant wit. I can't actually fire a gun and I go crying to mommy when people scream at me." He chuckled, grimly, waiting for the inevitable shock as the pelican disengaged its docking clamps. |

Jed sat in his seat, next to Robin, his adrenaline was high and he was close to trembling. The drop was nearly as bad as the fray. Jed always found an enemy he couldn't see much more frightening than one he could look in the face.
The first time he'd seen actio, he nearly pissed his pants, he was positively green. But he'd come home in one piece...granted, he was missing a finger and a big chunk of his calf. But with advanced medical procedures, he was cleared within a week. He didn't plan to lose anymore fingers now though. Ever since his first battle, he'd grown field-smart, he hadn't received anymore major injuries since the one that had burnt his face. He tried to breathe deeply, to calm his rattling nerves, bit with the hulking behemoth of battle lurking around a corner, he needed ever bit of positive demeanor he could muster up. "It never gets any fucking easier," Jed breathed, so only Robin may hear him, but even then it wasn't definite.

(Sorry for the delay Dread =) I had to sleep otherwise I'd be a grumpy git just now =) )
(Mix will have to catch up another Pelican or something in order to catch up >_< I only just noticed he wasn't on board >_< ) "Marines! We're about to leave! Make sure your strapped in right, this isn't like other drops!" shouted Lucas over the roaring of the engines starting up. Turning he was thrown backwards and landed spralled on the metal floor, grunting slightly. Sitting up, he could see the Hanger Doors opening slowly which could only mean that the Covenant were being damn stubborn about letting them land. Struggling to his feet he stumbled towards the cockpit, hearing the hiss of the Pelican closing off. "Sorry Lucas, the Captain wants all Pelicans to set off once the doors are fully open," said Kira as Lucas fell into his seat, instantly hooking up the safety harness. "No worries Kira, just warn me next time, I don't like being flat on my back unless I'm in bed!" he said strongly as he saw pale coloured beams of light passing the Hanger Doors. Seeing the other Pelicans beginning to lurch forward into space, Lucas flicked two switches and was pressed hard against his seat as Terra's Glory was launched into space. Twisting the control yoke, he brought the Pelican into formation, as they moved quickly towards the planet. "Marines, secure helmets and hold tight! Its going to get bumpy!" said Kira over the comm unit. Bumpy was an understatement. Phantoms and Banshees were moving back and forth engaged with the fighters of the ship, pale blue plasma lanced past them, and the light purple shots joined them. It was a storm of death in all detail. Two Pelicans exploded into thousands of pieces, loading hatches were blown open and the Marines held in the holds were sucked out. "Tango One to all flights, full thrust now! Get through the Covenant!" roared a voice over the comm unit. Flicking more switches, the Pelican lurched once more as it pushed to its maximum speed, weaving past Covenant ships. A small trail of smoke issuing from the rear port engine.

The laughing and the joking and then the silence that ensued when we made our landing all happened so quickly and then it went black for the sergeant then he felt a large movement in the ship as the passed through the atmosphere and the sound of plasmas couldn't be heard from the back with the engines shooting infernos in there ears.
All the Sgt could do was hope the best for him and his men that they wouldn't die before he had a chance to get some of the Covenant. Then he heard the sound of a plasma hitting the side of the wing on the pelican....."HOLD ON TIGHT!" Screamed the Sgt as he felt the swerving and stuttering of the pelican as it began to loose altitude.

Derrick almost retched in his helmet. He had been in Pelicans before, but never one in live action. He fingered his sniper rifle nervously, and looked at the other marines. He shouted over the noise, "Lets do it, then?" As the Pelican lurched foward again, the only thing stopping him from throwing up was the harness squeezing tight on his chest.

Penora sat in the Pelican, practicing a meditation technique. He couldn't let the simple fear affect how he acted. He heard of people who were so scared, they just stood infront of the enemy, waiting to die. He won't let that happen to him or any of the other soldiers.
