Putting forth a tremendous effort, Alderon uses the storm to stave off the guards. Sending lightning and forceful winds against their advercaries, Alderon is amazed at their ability to push through all of this. Redoubling his effort, Alderon continues to slow their advance. I hope Galen has located the mages.

Detecting a large magical exertion far down the docks, Galen is slightly worried. "Kethol, I've located Alexis and Silo. They are making their way here but something seems wrong. One of them released a lot of power some distance off. I can't judge very accuately because the 'signal' is somewhat distorted from all of the raw magic still in the air but they should be able to make it to the ship before the guards if they hurry. Just in case though, we may want to prepare a small line of defence a little ways down. I will volunteer myself and Alderon to be among this line if you decide it best to take this course of action."

Kethol didn't understand all of what Galen was talking about, but what he could pointed to a close 'Touch-and Go' situation. "Galen, help Alderon in whatever he is doing, and if you are doing what I think your doing, try and make the dock area as wet and slippery as possible. If the guards get too close and we have to engage them, my men are staying on the ship so it can leave. Except..." Kethol whistled, catching the attention of his Second-in-Command, Mik. "Mik, go get Thurll and tell him to bring his harpoons, he can try and catch some guards if they get close." Mik nodded and ran below deck.

Kethol looked around at what was on the docks to use to slow down the guards. A few emptied barrels, broken crates, and a few spools of rope. Nothing exceptionally useful, but its better then nothing I suppose. Kethol moved the barrels onto their sides and lined them up with the pier, putting what was left of the crates a good ways down the dock where the guards would come, and leaving the rope alone since it was probably anchored to the ground. When he was done he noticed Thurll on the deck, a large quiver on his back holding six harpoons, Kethol could only smile at that. He had some close support from above, and the guards were just going to be walking into his line of fire.

The tension of the waiting was starting to get to Kethol by this point, waiting to see if the guards got their first, waiting for a fight he knew might be coming, waiting for his friends to show up to save him from a fight. It all just seemed to be a waiting game, and he was left to be the one to stress it being able to do nothing productive himself. So he started to sing quietly to himself, a wordless tune he remembered from his childhood. It didn't reduce the tension by much, but it did relax him a bit doing something other then waiting.

"Finally we are on the south end of the docks Alexis." Silo said as he looked around 'So many ships where to start.' "Well Alexis if you would help me look for Lord of the Morning. I believe Kethol said it was on the far end but I can not fully remember. Soon as we find it we can board and be gone from this city."

Silo noticed that the weather was not acting right here like it had a mind of its own or somebody was controlling it.

'Well let's hope Kethol did not run into anything to troubling it is to far back to my ship at the pace we have been keeping. I can not fight off the entire city guard or somebody that has control of the weather right now with Alexis like this.

"It may be best to go with caution from here I have a strange felling that there is trouble up ahead." Looking back at Alexis as he spoke Silo slowly worked his way up the dock. Trying the best he could to hurry but at the same time taking his time as to not be seen by anybody keeping to the buildings so if he was spotted and there was trouble he could duck into one of the buildings or into an alley.

As he got closer to the end of the docks he thought he heard the sound of heavily armored soldier's marching and what sounded like a battle but he was still to far away and he could only hear what was blowing on the wind. ‘Just a few more buildings and we will be able to see the end of the docks hopefully Kethols ship.’

"Ok Silo that sounds like a good idea, i'll go in the other direction and start looking for the ship" Alexis fumbled with her hands, she didn't want to show Silo how scared she felt about having to walk alone on the docks. She slowly started to walk away, scouting everywhere for Kethol's Ship. As always she held her staff close for comfort, it's red smoke started to swirl again. She passed a few merchants who looked at her strangely, Alexis bowed her head as low as she could, she didn't want anyone seeing her face in case any guards recognised her.

She stepped in a puddle and staggered back when she saw her face, she hadn't seen the change in her eyes. What?! What's happened to my eyes! she touched her face gently still not believing it was her own face she had seen. That's right my dear, you are part of me now, our power is as one came the familiar voice from her staff.

Alexis felt cold, as though another being was using her as a host to use these new powers. She turned to see Silo in the distance, perhaps it wasn't such a good idea to separate. Her thoughts were realised as she looked up quickly and saw a group of guards coming towards her. One particularly big and ugly looking one pushed into her, hard enough that she fell to the floor. "Oh i'm sorry sweetheart did i hurt you" he sniggered. Not wanting to bring attention to herself she got up and quickly turned to walk back towards Silo, "No problem, it was my fault really don't worry. I'll be on my way"

"Not so fast sweetheart" the burly guard grabbed her arm and swung her around "i think we could have some fun with this one fellows" his friends laughed. "No please leave me alone, i have somewhere to be" Alexis started to panic now, she was hoping Silo had seen but he was still looking for Kethol's ship. The guard slapped Alexis hard in the face, making her lip bleed. Kill these men, KILL THEM! It is time to unleash your power!!! Alexis backed away slowly, the guards following and she struck her staff hard on the floor.

She congured a ball of magic in her free hand, images of the bloody scene back on her ship came to her mind. Not to kill, just to distract, i can control it she aimed at on of the wooden poles holding part of the dock and blasted. The big guard who had slapped flew back with the explosion and fell into the sea as the decking crumbled beneath him. He thrashed in the water, a couple of the other guards went to get him out. Those left staring at her started running towards her. "AFTER HER!!! SHE'S THE MAGE FROM BACK AT THE SHIP!!!"

Alexis ran like the wind, with Silo in her sights she called "SILO!! HELP, GUARDS ARE COMING!"

The squad of guards had finally gotten in Kethol's sight. There seemed to be more then 30 men, but he couldn't really see the depth of the men. Too many for me to take, even if I get help down here quick enough. So time for Plan B. Kethol didn't really like plan B, but it was effective. "Mik, cut the aft anchoring line, drop anchor, and pivot the ship! Ready Tier 3!" His orders were taken quickly, the gangplank was raised in unison with the line being cut and the ship pivoting in the water, still held to the port by a single line on the pier. Seven iron windows opened on the ship, but no one seemed to take much notice of them.

The guards had broken their ranks, all charging at Kethol, and he only shook his head at their charge. "Fire!" The guards slowed a bit, wondering why he would shout that word, then the cannon's roared taking their attention away. The cannonballs struck the dock and buildings near the docks. Screams filled the air, those taking direct hits, those who were hit by flying shrapnel, and those seeing the building that took the most hits fall towards them. The guards didn't stand a chance, and Kethol shared no pity for them.

Kethol turned back to his ship. "Turn the ship when you have too Mik. I'll try and find Silo and Alexis, keep everyone on the ship til then and the cannons at the ready. If there are more guards, and after that loud noise it will be a wonder if there aren't any." With that, Kethol set off northward, hoping the storm had driven nearly everyone to a shelter so he could just find the two people he needed to. You two had better be close, otherwise... It frustrated Kethol even more by not thinking of anything he could do to either of them. I either need to get creative or make them work on the ship during this trip.

Silo herd Alexis calling for help wipeing around in her direction to see that she was running towards him with seven guard’s right behind her. 'How did this day go so wrong' Silo thought as he causal walked in the direction of Alexis. Silo let Alexis run past him then he held out his hand "That is far enough, this young elf is with me and there is no need for any un-necessary violence." The guards slowed to a walk as they got near Silo circling him as they came up the biggest of the guards stood to face Silo.

"Look here old man that elf has hit a city guard and must now be took care of, we will say when the need for violence is and I say it is now. So piss off old timer or we will deal with you then your elf witch." Silo stood there looking at the guard from under his hood "Sorry I am afraid I can not piss off as you so delicately put it, I can not let you go any father if you want to turn around and forget all of this we will be on our way." The big guard grinned at Silo "Told you old man to get out of the way now I guess I will make you." As the guard took a swing at Silo his fist stopped just short of Silo’s face.

The guard had a look of surprise on his face as he tried to pull his hand away from the force that held it there. "HE IS A MAGE KILL HIM!!!" He shouted out the other six guards took six to seven step back as not any of them had any experience with magic. Pulling there swords from there sheaths "Such a shame all you had to do was walk away." Silo said to the big guard standing there as he closed his eyes. The big guard started yelling as he tried franticly to pull his hand away "KILL HIM!!! KILL HIM NOW!!!"

Snapping the other guards out of whatever fear they had of magic they charged in on Silo swords in hand not noticing that it was getting colder the closer they got to the old man. Silo opened his eyes as giant Ice spikes shot up from the ground under Silo's feet in the direction of each of the guards impaling them as they ran in there metal armor gave way like it was made of cloth killing all six of them.

The big guard stood there looking at what had just happened to his men that where now hanging there ice running through there body’s swords on the ground. Ice that had just shot up from nowhere, ice that this old man had just made to kill his men they never had a chance what kind of maddens is this he thought. Blood dripped out of them and running down the ice giving it a disturbing new look. Doubling his efforts to get away from the force that held his hand in place Silo looked over at Alexis "you may do with him as you wish."

Just then a loud BOOM came from the far end of the docks just a few hundred yards away like cannon fire Silo looked in that direction 'sounds like Kethol has got into a tight spot to be fireing his cannons off at the docks. Need to make it there posthaste now and leave this city behind'

Alexis stood behind Silo, frightened but slightly excited at what powers Silo had stored up for so long. She resisted the urge to laugh at the poor guard that was left as the other guards had been so swiftly taken care of. The brilliant diaply of ice that had harpooned the other guards had now melted away dropping the corpses on the docks.

Silo looked back at her "you may do with him as you wish" Yes, yes do as this man says, KILL HIM! Make him see your true power, the power of us both. They must all learn to fear you as should be! Alexis looked at the guard, a wet patch had appeared on his trousers, No he is frightened enough as it is, there is no need for any further unecessary murder "YOU! Leave us now and do not tell anyone what you have witnessed...." her voice came harsh but shakey. The guard did a double take, as though not sure whether they would still kill him where he stood. He turned and started to run, faster than Alexis thought a man that size could! "... BECAUSE IF YOU DO..." Alexis continued shouting aiming her staff at him, "...YOU WILL NOT LIVE TO REGRET IT!!!" a small ball of magic left the staff and hit the guards feet sending him flying and landing flat on his face. He scrambled up and ran faster and faster until out of sight.

Alexis doubled over, exhausted from the running and magic power that had seeped from her. "Thank you, again, Silo" she wheezed catching her breath. She had also heard the blast, "Let's go Silo" she didn't give him a chance to reply as she started running in the direction of Kethol's ship I've wasted enough time with my reckless actions, time to help others instead of relying on other peoples help

Kethol for most people being inside their buildings now, if they weren't just hiding from the rain, probably from the madman who is firing cannons at the harbor. Another port I can't go into without getting shot at, must remember to make a note of that once we get out of here. His running had paid off in a short amount of time, he could see two figures ahead and by the kind hand of Fate it was Alexis and Silo. "What kept you two so long?" Kethol slowed down his run, and turned to keep running with them towards the ship.

Not waiting for much of a response he went on, "Now, picking out my ship should be easy, its the only one with a destroyed dock near it and its half sailing off the pier. There will be a bit of a jump onto the gangplank, but I can always give you an extra push if you need it." Any frustration at these two was easing its way out of him now that he found them and they were close to getting out of the port.

Unable to hold the guards any longer, Alderon released his grasp on the storm. There were too many of them and he couldn't do anything to take them out without chancing the harm of Silo and Alexis. Tired from his exertion over the storm, he sank down and sat with his back to the railing. That beats the energy right out of you. Regardless of whether I live of die this night, I know one thing for certain; I'll sleeping for a long time.

"Mik, cut the aft anchoring line, drop anchor, and pivot the ship! Ready Tier 3!"

Hearing Kethol's words, Alderon watches the ship come alive with crewmen running to and fro, hustling to complete orders. Wait a moment, Kethol isn't on the ship! Jumping to his feet, Alderon sees that the gangplank is already being raised.

"Turn the ship when you have too Mik. I'll try and find Silo and Alexis, keep everyone on the ship til then and the cannons at the ready. If there are more guards, and after that loud noise it will be a wonder if there aren't any." With that, Kethol set off northward. . .

As Kethol moved away on his own, Alderon impulsively went after him. Not able to use the walkway, Alderon took a few strides back then ran toward the railing. Harnessing his power, he summoned a large gust of wind to give him more distance because the dock was a ways away now. Jumping up onto the railing straight out of the fun, he pushed off with his left leg hoping that his momentum and the aid of the wind would carry him all the way to dry land. It did and he tucked himself and rolled on impact. Running after Kethol, Alderon draws his weapon. "Kethol, are you crazy going by yourself? Besides, how do you plan on finding them- Oh."

Kethol was still ahead of him and in the distance, he saw two figures approaching. Coming to a halt, Alderon watched as Kethol turned around with them and headed back his way. Well that was lucky. Turning back toward the ship, Alderon fell into step with the others.

Alexis kept running, Silo and Kethol to either side of her as they searched for Kethol's ship. When they finally reached it, she took a moment to admire the magnificant craftsmanship that had turned out such a glorious ship. Makes my old ship look like a tug boat she chuckled to herself, her smile soon faded when she realised that the ship had now moved away from the docks leaving a large watery gap between them and getting on deck. "What now? We can't jump that far, we'll end up in the sea." All her hope, all the courage she had gained had now drained from her. It wouldn't be long before more guards found them.

Suddenly she felt the strong pulse from her staff, the red smoke swirling fiercly again. use your power, become one with your gift concentrating with all her might she focused on the severed poles that had held the ropes to the ship. "Estu ferina semek" she whispered.

All was quiet, then suddenly as if from the very depths of the ocean, long tendriles wrapped themselves around the poles. They grew thicker and thicker and intertwined to create a strong rope, Alexis smiled. It's working, it's actually working she continued the ancient words "Estu ferina semek" the vines continued to grow until a rather weak bridge formed between the gap.

Finally when the vines had bridged the gap between the dock and Kethol's ship. Alexis smiled, "i did it" she slumped against one of the poles, "still tiring though!"
