Shinji jumped up infront of the targets, four shuriken in hand. One between each finger. He threw them, aiming each one for the bullseyes, quickly but precisely. Each target was hit straight in the center.
..Ha. From a quick look below, the mail carrier had come back. He knocked quickly on the door, and waited. Shinji ran downstairs, and opened the door. "Hello again." He said, cocking an eyebrow, wondering what this next letter was for. The mail carrier handed him the letter, with the same golden emblem. The mail carrier nodded politely, and walked off, heading to the homes of Suzume, Tyok, and different Wind Country hopefuls. Shinji had only recieved this, because he was a candidate. He opened the envelope, and sighed. WIND COUNTRY REGISTRATION HAS BEEN CLOSED Two individuals have been decided to be let into the Wind Country sector of the Kage decision tournament. These two were the most promising out of the many hopefuls. Congratulations to Ms. Suzume Kangen, and Mr. Tyok Zuki. You will compete for the spot of KAZEKAGE on June the Fifth. Good luck, and god speed. Other Kage candidates recieve this letter. The other hopefuls receieve it as well, to inform them of the bad news. Shinji put down the letter, and went into the mini-library he had in his home, and searched for a decent-looking book to read. |

Looking around at his training grounds, the marked trees had several hundred kunai, senbon and shuriken embeded into them. He closed his eyes, grabbing the handle of the large hammer placed in a harness across his back, several sand clones appeared, he had used a clone jutsu using the sand from the area around him. Sliding sideways he unclipped his hammer bringing it round into one of the clones, smacking through the sand with as much force as a speeding train. Rebounding off a tree he threw several kunai into another clone, equipped with exploding tags, making a hand-sign he shouted "Explode!" The clone blew up in a burning inferno, he was on the last clone, just as he met the clone hammer to hammer a knocking sound was heard from inside. The clone turned back into normal sand, disolving onto the floor. Placing the hammer down on its head he opened the door a letter was left on the doorstep and the mail carrier was already inside the everlasting sand storm of the village hidden in the sand. Opening the letter he read:

He looked startled Suzame.. wasn't she the girl from the chonin exams, the extremly young one... He sat down in a special chair fitted for his body, he thought about the days when he was doing D Rank missions in Team 3 |

Silvery eyes hid behind raven black hair. She wore a simple outfit. A black and yellow kimono-like shirt and black tights underneath. She had yellow bracelets on her wrists and ankles. With a sigh, she walked over to the Lightning Country instructor. He handed a sheet to her.
Sign-Up Sheet What is your name? - What is your Gender? - What is your Age? - What are your interests? - Please give a moderately detailed background of yourself. - What country do you live in? - Do you have any special skills we should look at? - After looking over the sheet, she smiledsoftly at him, she took the paper and a pen. "Thank you." The kunoichi then went to fill out her paper. Sign-Up Sheet What is your name? - Kumori Kasai What is your Gender? - Female What is your Age? - 19 What are your interests? - Reading, writing, training, and wolves Please give a moderately detailed background of yourself. - Lets see. I was born in the Lightning Country during one of their civil wars. My father was killed in battle and my older sister, Hihoseeke raised me. She taught me all of the jutsu's I know and also she taught me how to "sneak." When I was thirteen, Hihoseeke left me and I grew up with relatives. They never liked me since all of their children were male, but that just forced me to train harder than ever before. Now, at nineteen, I'm entering this tournament to finally bring peace to my country. What country do you live in? - The Lightning Country Do you have any special skills we should look at? - She squinted her nose at the question. Glancing over at the instructor she asked "Do I have to answer this?" He just nodded and she sighed softly. Yes, but you will see them in battle. Please give this sheet to your designated instructor. A mail carrier will inform you if you are decided eligible for the tournament. If eligible, your tournament host will give you further instructions upon what to do. The girl handed the paper to the instructor. "Head home Kumori...And may luck be with you." He said, smiling at her. She nodded and put her hands together. She poofed out of the building and she was sitting on top of a nearby building, waiting for a few minutes before howling softly and leaving. |

Suzume opened her eyes. She had been doing one of her training exercises, one she had made herself. In the exercise, Suzume would close her eyes and focus on the energy of the animals and insects around her. Eventually, it would get to the point where she could actually feel their life force. Not effective in battle (as it took to long), but it was useful for building concentration. Suzume stood up and sighed as she stretched her aching joints. She had been training extensively for the past day now, trying to get ready for the tournament now that she knew she was accepted. Suzume walked into the training area of the Kangen clan. The targets and soft sandstone rocks in the area were littered with senbon from her training. Suzume grinned as she pulled one of the throwing needles out of a bull's-eye. Suddenly she heard another clan member come up behind her. "I take it you've mastered that jutsu, Suzume?" he said, looking at the hundreds of senbon embedded in the rocks and targets. Suzume gave a smile. "Yeah. It took long enough, but now I'll be able to use it when I fight for the title of Kazekage." The clan member nodded. Smiling, he said, "It looks like your aim has improved, too." Suzume laughed as she pulled out several more senbon from the same bull's-eye. She then sighed. "I just wish there was a way to practice with my ocarina. I mean, there's not much I can do to improve my genjutsu." The clan member looked thoughtful for a moment, then said, "Not necessarily. Lately, a couple members of the Kangen clan have been experimenting with how to make their genjutsu last longer, and to make it resistant to the "dispel" technique. I hear they've almost reached a breakthrough." Suzume started. "That's incredible! It would make the Kangen clan's jutsu just that much more powerful..." "Which might give you the upper edge you need when competing." The clan member finished her sentenced for her. Suzume nodded, then turned around around. She saw the mail carrier waiting at the edge of the training area. "Ah, hello!" Suzume said while walking over to him. "Hello, miss. I have a letter for you." Suzume took the letter and thanked him. She waved goodbye to the clan member and walked into her house. There she sat down and opened the letter. Suzume blinked. Tyok... that name sounds familiar... she then remembered. He had been in the chunin exam, the same one that she had been in when she was young. She sighed. "I have more training to do."

Shinji sighed. "Well, today's the fifth. The Kazekage will be decided today. Ha."
[Well, I'll expect you both to roleplay going to the arena and battling things out. Use all of your abilities, of course. If one of you doesn't show up the entire day, the other candidate wins. If neither of you show up, [No offense to Librarian] but Cookie gets Kazekage. Cookie, in my mind, is the better of the two roleplayers. ^^;] |

Piercing silver eyes stared at the paper she had just received. It was a reply from the instructors as to wether she would be chosen to compete for Raikage. Of course, she was accepted.
Congratulations Congratulations, miss Kumori Kasai. You have been the fourth out of a total of ten we have decided to let enter this tournament. Good luck, miss. The tournament will be held on June 5th, if we have enough participants by then. You will recieve another letter stating otherwise, if so. It will be held at the stadium near to the registration building you entered yesterday. Good luck. - Ashinzo Kioru Lightning Country Tournament Host The girl smiled softly and thanked the messenger. Now she would have to head towards the arena. That was fine with her. The young kunoichi named Kumori headed out. With a decent journey ahead of her, she packed up a few things and then left her small village within the Lightning Country to head towards the tournament. Glancing back, she knew that she was perfect for this job. Her country needed her and she would win to be their Raikage. Turning back towards the road, Kumori Kasai continued walking. She was ready for this, at least she figured she was. |

Tyok looked up at the calander on the wall, its number blared out in red, June 4th.. thought tyok. Standing up he walked towards the arena grabbing his ninja gear and his large hammer, filling the handle with sand from the sandstorm he set off towards the arena, very nervous of the opponent he was going to have to face. As he arrived at the arena he looked around for the large white dome that would be their arena the next day, next to it was an identical dome but for training or waiting. Opening the glass doors of the training room he walked it looking at the various figures sitting down waiting for tommorows fight between him and Suzume, walking onto the sandstone arena he unclipped the end of the hammer, letting the sand pour out onto the floor. As it hit the floor, it started to circle him at a high speed, slicing at the rock next to him leaving huge gashes where the sand particles had it with blinding speed. He threw his hammer into the air, a few sand particles remaining in the shaft of the weapon. It dropped out the hammer, down below a flurry of handsigns where made. "Iron Sand Rain!" The sand turned into iron raining down on the large rock before him, he looked at it after the smoke had cleared, it had been turned into dust. Smiling he walked around the rock observing the many iron spikes sticking out of the ground.

((Thanks Hiazi, but with this one I think the Librarian's character is stronger. I mean, I have creative ways to win, but Librarian's character has more raw power than mine does. Still, I'm not about to lose without a fight.
))Suzume looked at her calendar. June 5, the big day. Suzume sighed and picked up her cloak. She had made it especially for this fight, and it was lined with senbon on the hem and insides. She had sewn it together so that the senbon couldn't be seen, unless she opened the cloak of course. It wasn't just for battling, though. Suzume had sewn it together from an old cloak made for traveling in the harsh environment of Sunagakure. It protected her from the everlasting sandstorm of the Sand Village. As Suzume loaded her bag with more senbon, she thought about her opponent. Tyok Zuki... if I remember correctly from the chunin exams, he uses sand manipulation, but that's all I remember. Tch, I should have paid more attention to his fighting styles when I was in the exams with him. Suzume finally picked up her ocarina. It was a triple ocarina, which meant it had three chambers inside of it. This meant that the small flute-like instrument had three octaves. More notes, more variety of genjutsu. Suzume smiled. She had talked with the members of the Kangen clan who were experimenting with genjutsu. They had shared their knowledge with her, and now she knew how to improve it. The members had been working on how to make their genjutsu last longer, and be resistant to the "dispel" technique. The day after talking with them, Suzume had added her own little trick to the technique. She grinned. No one outside of the Kangen clan knew about it, so hopefully it would give her an upper edge. Giving one last grin, Suzume pulled her senbon-loaded cloak around her and sped off towards the arena. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Suzume looked up at the white-domed building. That's where I'll be fighting Tyok today... she thought with a small shiver of excitement. She walked into the arena and looked around. People were already gathering in the seats, apparently it was going to be a full house. Suzume walked into the waiting area. Her heart was beating quickly, though from fear or excitement she didn't know. Suzume pulled out her ocarina. It was the same color as the sand in Sunagakure. She played a small tune on it, no genjutsu, just a song. After awhile Suzume stopped. She was shaking, though now she knew it wasn't fear. It was anticipation of the fight to come. She gritted her teeth and tried to calm down. Finally Suzume decided to try her training exercise that she had made. Closing her eyes, Suzume sat with her legs crossed and her hands in her lap. She focused on all of the people around her. After a while, she could feel their life force, as well as the chakra of some shinobi. Suzume's breathing slowed, and she grew more tranquil. She stayed in this state as she waited for Tyok to come to the waiting area for the fight.

Sekoyah Tyau walked slowly into the arena. He sat down on the dirt floor, and waited for the two participants to arrive. The current time was 4:00 PM, and they needed to be there by 6:00! If so, then both of them would be disqualified--
"Sir! Miss Suzume Kangen has arrived, and is in the waiting room." A Shinobi with the same pale gray color cloth in his headband as Sekoyah had barked at him, like a military member. "Very well, Tenma. Send her in, and I shall discuss the rules with her." I wonder if she or the Tyok guy will actually do it.. |
