Naoby leapt into the air in a failed attempt to dodge the plasma burst. The blast hit her in the leg, having her fall on the ground on her side.
"Ack," Naoby let out as she fell to the ground, her shielding taking a dip to protect her body, "no pirates in site and already I'm taking hits." With that she then rolled up into the morph ball. In an attempt to sneak up behind him she roll up and along the hill, being small enough to hide from the, whatever it was. Once back at the top of the hill she unrolled behind him and fired a few cheap shots as quickly as she could. |

Sojak turned in time to get one of the shots the hunter had fired off, he managed to shoulder the blows with his left side, but was sent flying back as the last one broke through. Luckily, he landed inside his bubble shield. "At least I'm safe for the moment... here's to hoping that this one doesn't realize it can walk through the shield..." he said to himself, standing up slowly...

Naoby kept her cannon pointed in his direction. She couldn't be sure what it was, and scanning it would take too long. She then asked in her soft accent, "What kind space pirate bastard fucktard am I looking at?"
Who else randomly fires at someone without identifying themself? she thought. |

Sojak grunted as he popped his shoulder, which had been ripped out of place, back. "You're not looking at a space pirate... you're looking at one doomed to walk the line between hunter and spartan... one who has the training of both, and the gear of all... You look at Sojak Thatcholm... the Hunter Spartan..." he said clearly as his shields glowed and replenished extremely fast...

Naoby lowered her cannon in response. This intrigued her, assuming that he spoke the truth. If he spoke the truth, combat with him would be a grave mistake. Not only would she be wasting energy on him, but would also lose an ally that would help her fight off the pirates when they came. As good as a hunter Naoby is, Samus she wasn't.
"What exactly does that mean?" she asked in curiosity. |

"That means I'm rejected by both, I can't go into spartan areas anymore, I can't go into hunter areas anymore. I'm an outcast. I'm also more powerful than most people would believe." Sojak said, his shield completely replenished as the bubble shield fritzed and faded, "What makes you think that I might be useful? What makes you stop attacking when all the others would strike first?"

His logic disturbed her, outcasted from both? Maybe he was stupid or in a weird circumstance that she really didn't want to know about.
"Simple," she said in the 'don't waste your words' mentality that a hunter commonly had, "Your not a Space Pirate. Space Pirates are expected to be here. I don't want to waste energy on a non-pirate like you." She took a few steps away from him, then looked and asked "Outcasted from Spartan places? What did that mean?" <OOC> Yeah, I know, Naoby is pretty chatty for a hunter. </OOC> |

(Is that a problem?)
It was Sojak's turn to give a lecture, "Simple... they don't like people who aren't ALL spartan or marine in their places... I'm not spartan or marine... all the way at least." he said, holstering his plasma cannon. "I look at myself like the arbiter in ages past did... an outcast for the greater good..."

<OOC> Well, if you've ever played Metroid, the lead, whose the prototype hunter, doesn't really say much at all. Typical Nintendo maybe, but that might translate to the hunter community just not being an overy chatty bunch. So, Naoby speaking more than a few words at a time, if at all, might be chatty for a hunter. If I remember my Halo, the prototype Spartan wasn't much of a conversationalist himself. </OOC>
"Interesting," she said to him, not too interested in his plight, yet at least. She turned and walked back to the station. The priates had to be coming if they were not already there. She did another look around the parameter of the complex before watching a federation ship fly through the atmosphere in perfect condition, waiting to load supplies most likely. If the pirates strike now would be a good time, she thought as she watched the hanger hatch in the facility open up to let the ship in. Of course just then a blarg ship zips out, almost from nowhere, and fired on the supply ship, crippling it as it fell in. As the pirate ship engaged landing sequences inside the 'base' Naoby jumped ontop of the ship, holding onto a wing of the vessel with her left hand as it landed. Once inside she jumped off and readied her cannon in the direction of the space pirates as they crawled out of the ship, equally ready to take out the panicked guards in the hanger area... They were not ready for a hunter. First few blasts of her cannon killed or maimed several pirates, while the rest either scattered deeper into the lab, killing any on that got in their way, or stayed in the hanger to fight Naoby and the federation guards that were left standing. Naoby jumped around, firing her beam cannon at the pirates, them shooting back, taking the odd hit, but not quite down. Some of the guard would not be as lucky as their bodies start littering the floor of the hanger. Naoby kept shooting, downing a few more pirates before she had to chase them into the lab, deep into the federation's shame. |
