James had followed the group until Route 119 when he broke away and went fishing on the river. He had caught a Feebas and rejoined the group before they went to Fortree City.
After healing his Pokémon, James went ahead to Route 120 and searched the grass for any more Pokémon. After a while, an Absol came to James. He knew of Absol's precognitive abilities when it came to natural disasters. "Is something terrible going to happen, Absol?" asked James. Absol nodded. "Thanks for the warning. How about a battle?" asked James. Absol accepted and got into a fighter's stance. "Flame, I choose you!" called James, releasing his Flareon to battle, "Flame, Flamethrower!" The Absol was preparing a Razor Wind attack as Flame breathed a stream of fire at the Absol that scored heavy damage from a critical hit. "Great Ball, go!" James threw a Great Ball at the Absol and it was drawn in. The Great Ball shook once, twice, thrice and there was a click after a ten second pause. "I'll call you Taijitu," said James as he pushed the white button on his Pokédex and stored one of his party Pokémon to keep his Absol. James then ran back to the Pokémon Centre, healed his Pokémon and then met up with Alesta and Sakura. "Guys, there's a natural disaster coming!" warned James.

"That's not good..." Sakura commented absentmindedly. "Wait- that's terrible! Do you know what it is?"
Foliage offered a fruit to James. Kumiko was hacking away at the ice in attempt to free Alesta. She looked to Sakura to help. Sakura paused for a moment, but then hugged Alesta in an effort to melt his containment. The ice started turning to liquid... "Don't take it personally," Sakura muttered, turning slightly red. Alesta turned a bit red. "Yea right. Hey Sakura, you have to win the Lilycove contest. If you do, then you will be in the Grand Festival." She has to win...its the only way I will get my fans.

"Don't worry. I have a plan." Sakura looked at Kumiko, who nodded at her. "Kumiko agrees.
"What are you planning for the festival?" Sakura asked in suspicion. "I sense mystery about you. Actually, you can surprise me. Now, I must defeat Winona!" Please assume the kecleon are out of the way. It's easier like that. Sakura made her way over bridges between tree houses. She waited at the entrance of the gym for Alesta. Has James beaten Norman yet?

Alesta pushed Sakura out of the way and walked up to Winona. They hugged each other, and smiled. "WHy are not you training for gyms?" SHe asked.
"Because I worked my way up to you." Alesta said, she was shocked. I think not

In the meantime, Sakura was defeating flying-type trainers with ease. Kumiko was small, which made people underestimate her, but she was powerful. "You're not going to give me a challenge?"
"Winona, after finishing with Alesta, please give me a battle worth fighting. I have found so many unworthy trainers. I will be ready when you are."

Alesta quickly made Swellow faint with Gastly, after they got on the Standing Platform and the Dirt Pokemon Platform. I just did that because I am late getting here.
"Go Pelipper! Use water gun!" That attack hit so hard, Gastly almost fainted. "Gastly, use Giga Drain as many times as you can." That worked, and Pelipper fainted. "Return!" Both trainers called. "Go Toga!" Alesta called. "Go Altaria!" Winona yelled. "Use Dragon Breath and Dragon Dance!" "Redirect the Dragon Breath with a Water Pulse!" That stopped the Dance, which made Altaria mad. "Altaria, dive in!" Winona yelled out. "Metronome!" Alesta said. "On contact with Altaria's dive, both pokemon fainted. Metronome was self destruct, which was very powerful. "Return!" Both called for a last time. Winona sent out Skarmory. "Go Lazy!" Alesta nodded. "Use Shadow Ball!" Shadow Ball hit Skarmory, and it was powerful. "Skarmory, Steel Wing!" As Skarmory flew in to the Slowpoke named Lazy, it was amazing. "Slowpoke, use Earthquake!" "What?!" Winona asked. "I taught you that ground does not hurt flying types!" "Thats what everyone thinks!" Alesta commented. Earthquake shot rocks out of the dirt pokemon platform at Skarmory. Right when Skarmory hit Slowpoke, a large chunk of the ground flew up and hit it in the chest, making it faint. "Alexandra! You did it!" Winona called. "I knew it...my life long goal is over..." Alesta said, then left to visit his family, after getting his TM and badge.

"Make this challenging," Sakura warned Winona.
"Go, Kumiko!" Winona looked surprised at Kumiko's size and level. She sent out Altaria. "Alteria, fury attack!" "Kumiko, ice beam!" Kumiko's ice beam knocked out Alteria. "Pelipper! wing attack!" Pelipper's wing attack did some damage, but Sakura called: "Kumiko, return!" Pelipper never had a chance to retaliate. Return was so powerful that Pelipper's hit points were drained in an instant. "Skarmory! Air cutter!" "Kumiko, return! Go, Igloo!" Air cutter was somewhat effective against Igloo, but she released two ice beams and made Skarmory faint. "Igloo, switch with Kumiko!" "Swellow, come out!" Kumiko released a powerful ice beam, knocking out the swellow easily. "Swellow has fainted. Sakura wins!" Sakura looked at Kumiko affectionately. "I knew you could do it, Kumiko."

After Sakura returned to the grandstand, James said to her, "I have no idea what the natural disaster is. I'll have to ask Taijitu."
