"Slipped on my way down the steps of my apartment, sharp edge of the railing caught me pretty bad."
"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that... Maybe you should get medical treatment, because that looks pretty bad. I mean, you must live pretty near, because, why would you even try to walk that far? I mean, I heard that there was some commotion down here... Oh no, you didn't get attacked by a vampire, did you? Not... uh... not to say that I believe in them, but that's all that they've been saying on the news..." Nat was talking too quickly... There's no way he could know about my... my thing, she reminded herself, Natalia Wallace, you've gotta chill out! She shut herself up. She looked down at her belongings, and her eyes widened to see the switchblade showing. She quickly crouched down and swept her belongings into her bag, zipping it up and hoping the man hadn't seen. She straightened back up, slightly stiffly. Bending down in the bulletproof vest was difficult, but she was sure it was well-concealed. "Dressed ready for a fight?" She feigned a look of incredulity and looked down at her formless dress. "Hah. Uhm. No... No, not for a fight. Just dressed to, y'know, grab a bite to eat!" She tugged the hem and shrugged. There was something a little suspicious about this guy, but she didn't have time to worry about it... She should've been past the paranoia, anyhow. She'd been at this for so many years. Why the butteflies now? "Here, let me buy you a sandwich or something." |

Ezekiel grinned, taking slight note of her nervousness. "Yeah I live a few blocks down St. Hemmingsway." Lies, Lies, Lies. Ezekiel has over 45 years worth of them up his sleeve. Deciding against prodding at the fact she was wearing some type of bullet armour, He stood up against the wall. "Yeah, just got here. Apparently there is some kind of vampire hunter trying to do something about the race. I guess this is the outcome." He concluded, motioning to the charred concrete, police questioning witnessess and ofcourse she noticed the faint smell of garlic floating through the atmosphere.
"No thank you, But I might just go ahead and buy myself a cup of coffe- that is if you dont mind the company?" Perhaps staying out here in the open isnt the best choice. On the bright side, even if she is a vampire if I can stick around her long enough without leading myself on I can maybe pry into what I came to this city for. Before he coud get a answer Ezekiel pulled open the glass door, the welcoming jingle of bells ringing out intot he night sky. Holding the door open for her, Ezekiel mention quickly "By the way, Im Ez."

"No thank you, But I might just go ahead and buy myself a cup of coffe- that is if you dont mind the company?"
"Nah, I don't mind!" Natalia said, relieved that he didn't press her further. She watched the door swing open and scuttled through, turning around as she came in. She stopped and waited for him to enter. "Ez? Huh, I know a kid named Ezra... Is that short for Ezra? I'm Natalia, by the way, but you can call me Nat." As the door swung shut behind them, a young but portly waitress with a name tag that read "Carol" shuffled over and ushered them to a table. "What can I get for you?" she said with a bright smile. She had her pink lipstick on her teeth. "Uh... To start, could we get two coffees?" asked Nat. She picked idly at a tear in the red vinyl seat of the booth. |

Ezekiel followed the girl into the restraunt, the soft cold of the air conditoner pumping against his face- too inviting for him to keep the trenchcoat on. As they were lead to their seats, Ezekiel continued the covnersation. "No, It's short for Ezekiel. Nice to meet you Natalie." He concluded with a grin, sitting acrost from her in their booth. As the order was taken, Ezekiel removed the black trenchcoat, setting it next to him in a bundle. He made sure that the coat was folded right to hide the array of flash grenades and other weapons clipped inside- including his large and intimidating pistol. Through the thick leather, you could slightly see the outline of the gun.
Runnign his hands over the ornate black vest he wore buttoned over a dark red dress shirt- eyes flicked back over to Nat. "So what brings you to New York?" He asked, runnign his figners through the inhumanly long black hair that spilled over the front of his shoulders, dangling slightly below the breast of his vest.

"No, It's short for Ezekiel. Nice to meet you Natalie."
"Uh, it's Natalia, actually... Heh... I was born on Christmas day and my parents got all weird," she wiggled her hands in the air, "and decided to name me after the day I was born... Hah... Everybody thinks it's Natalie at first!" Nat smiled back at him and continued, "So, anyhow, Ezekiel? Like the prophet? What a cool name. Were your parents very religious?" She was used to interacting with regular folk, and she was always friendly with people who looked older than herself. The facade was second nature, and her suspicion of this man was ebbing away. The diner reminded her of her high school days, and it comforted her. Natalia watched as Ezekiel removed his trench coat, bunched it up very methodically, and set it on the space beside him. It was well-made, and the leather was thick. Her paranoia ratcheted up a bit... What if it's made to protect him? From bites n' what not? she thought. She reminded herself once again that she shouldn't judge people. He's probably an ex-goth or something. "So what brings you to New York?" "Oh, I live here!" she said, brightening up, "I've lived here all my life... I live " - She paused for a moment, debating whether or not to tell him of her residence - "in the West Village..." - no need for excessive details. "How about you?" She took in the appearance of the man. His dress seemed rather formal, but fashionable at the same time. His hair was so long - it must have taken eons to grow out. "Oh, and sorry to be such an oddball, but I love your hair! It's unreal!" She tried her best not to seem like she came from the beat generation, but some slang slipped out now and again. Carol came out with the two coffees, sugar, and cream. She set it down and said, "If ya need anything, lemme know!" |

Matthew had escaped long before the fight even ended. He decided tonight he would probably have to let the hunter go. The police were showing up and there was simply too much commotion for him to stay out in the open. Matthew would look for him now, but it would be quite tricky, New York was a big place afterall. As Matt scratched his head, he began scanning block after block. He even passed by the diner that the hunter had been in, without noticing the first time. No, it would be almost impossible for Matt to know it was the hunter now that his appearance and smell had changed completely.
Matt did keep walking for a few minutes, until he did remember a strange scent as he walked by. It was like the smell of a vampire, he could tell it was coming from inside the diner. Matthew quickly made his way back, and opened the door, the door making the little jingle sound as he walked in. The door shut quietly behind him as some young waitress walked up to him and asked him "Table for one?" the waitress asked. "Yes ma'am." Matthew replied politely as she escourted him to a booth next to the booth Natalia and Ezekeil. Now, Matthew clearly could smell her scent, the scent of a vampire. But from Ezekiel, he couldn't smell anything... it was like he purposly tried to hide his scent. This made Matt even more curious, as he simply ordered a coke. He wanted to keep a close eye on those two. There was something just too suspisious about that guy... again he had no scent, and surely he would at least smell of a human, or a vampire, but there was nothing, he must have purposly hidden his scent Matt concluded as he kept watching them without actually seeming to do so. He was more listening, every now and again he would take a glance at the two, but that would be it.

Sight stood at the top of a red-bricked building, overlooking all of the humans that passed by, the few hidden vampires. Though she couldn't see, she could still picture it in her mind with all the scents. She sat cross legged on the rooftop, taking in a deep breath.

Ezekiel smile, watching the girl with great intent. "Oh Im sorry" He aplogized, laughing abit at his own mistake. "My mother was, so I beleive that has some ties to my name, not too sure though." Ezekiel took mental note of the girls off-set look, as if she was slowly catching onto the idea he was a hunter.
Perhaps even if she finds out, I can forge some kinda of alliance. "Ahh, I live waaaay farther away from there." Of course he didnt, the West Village was only so far away from his apartment complex, but he coudlnt risk giving away his residential area. Ding Ding Ezekiel completely ignored the thumping in his head- all of his focus was on the girl infont of him. Having no mental alert that the vampire from earlier was now only three feet from his, Ezekiel continued his conversation. "Thank you, Im extremely afraid of anything sharp coming near my face, neck region so I just kinda let my hair do it's own thing." Having decided that he had stayed in guise long enough, Ezekiel made the mistake of clasping his hair back in a pony tail, returnign the three wooden clips in their original positions. Age old mistake, Alertness exchanged for false comfort in a airconditioned Diner.
