Kerr sat next to the pilot, running over pre-flight with her. He was running mission details in his head, though there wasn't much to run. The Brass had tried to make this sound very routine, and that alone had him suspicious. You don't hand-pick a group of goods-but-not-greats unless you're planning on something interesting happening that you don't want the media finding out about. He'd read everyone's profile, the typical public details as well as the stuff only NCO and above can look over. He'd noticed that a good bit of Bryant's files were gone, but he wasn't as concerned as pleased. He liked having someone aboard that knew their way around coding. It came in handy more times than not, and at least this time he knew who it was right out of the box. As soon as pre-flight was done, he stood and went into the crew compartment.
"Listen up! We're dropping in about three miles from the base. A blizzard is keeping us from going in any farther from that. So we're going for a little walk. Seamus, make sure you strap that weapon in. If it knocks me in the head during planetfall, I will not be pleased. Now, for you that've never been to Pluto, the planet isn't terraformed, so you'll need to keep your suits sealed at all times. That means you can take those goggles off, Kane. ((and this is why I said to check any extra items with me first)) If any of you forget, you'll be dead, and I'll be pissed. Not because you died, but because of how much paperwork I'll have to fill out to explain you died of stupid. Anything else?"

Kane raised his hand, "You mean despite the fact that my suit is the smalles size and is still three sizes too large? I can easily fit a melon in my helmet with me." he said as-a-matter-of-factly, "Want to see photographic evidence?"

Kane put the goggles in his pack anyway and sealed up the suit as he pulled on the helmet. Indeed, the suit looked more like a blanket or a sleeping bag on him than an actual suit...

Kerr glared. "Talk that over with your quartermaster, Private. The fact that you have the body of a prepubescent girl isn't my problem. Anything else?"

Steve listened contently to every word the CO said,
writing it all down on his memory, to be called back at a moments notice.
Indeed his mind was finely tuned.

Steve mirrored Kane, sliding his helmet snuggly around his cranium, and latching it in place.

"Ready to go, Staff sergeant Kerr."

"Good. If there's no more problems, we'll be lifting off shortly." He turned and strapped himself in, making sure the straps had locked. He'd been in a transport while not strapped in, and he'd rather not repeat the ride he'd had. He took a moment to check his pistol before sliding it back into its holster and then locked his own helmet into place. He called up what information he could get on Victoria Base, but little was said about it besides the fact that it was a small research outpost studying the weather patterns of Pluto.

She flipped the com switch in the cockpit once she was done with her preflight checks. "Now, if everyone is strapped in, we are ready to depart," she informed them before fliping the switch back off. She carefully eased them out of the docking bay and out into space toward their intended destination.

Steve's face flushed under his helmet. His sensitivity to detail was working against him in the floating motion that carried the aircraft along.

"Only a few minutes, I can last."

Steve felt the pull of gravity as the airship lifted off the ground, He felt his body move forward as they moved through the air.
He though of the mission to come, and the uncertainty's of where they were going.

"(why would they send a squad like us there?)"

Kerr's voice buzzed in everyone's helmet. "Comm check. Alright, we have planetfall in five. Get ready to deploy in a hurry. We'll have to hoof it three miles over the ice. Your boots will hold to the surface, but watch for unstable terrain. This whole planet is a big ice cube and it's been known to collapse. Watch your step."

Kane spoke with a voice that made him seem to smirk, "Aye... just don't fall too far behind everyone." he said quite clearly and boastfully. Then, he suddenly sounded solemn, "I have a bad feeling... and those instincts and feelings were breed into me by the mercs who raised me... I know something's not right..."

"Yeah? Tough shit. That's recon. Nothing's ever the way it's supposed to be. Now, keep your mouth shut and your eyes open. No reason to worry about what you can't fix. Get ready, we're about to hit dirt." He grabbed his straps, partially to brace for the landing and partially to be in position to remove them as soon as the door unsealed. He'd seen too many dropships with Marines shot dead still in their straps.
