| Oh now we must be in hell. That was the first thought that ran though Ericka's mind as she saw the houses, to wide, to clean, how was anyone of them supposed to feed in a place like this? Ericka had already been glaring out of the window when they had been put into the van, but now...her glare seemed to be trying to melt through the window. In response to the 'nutty red head' as she had been calling the woman to amuse her siblings on for the journey, Ericka took out her Ipod, put the plugs in her ears and turned it on, then for the sake of showing she couldn't care for the woman who was a head shorter than her, Ericka stuck a square of chewing gum in her mouth. Though she kept her mouth shut as she chewed, she wasn't about to put her self that low. "So where are we sleeping?" Ericka asked in a somewhat dead tone and at normal volume, the Ipod wasn't that loud and even if it had been she wouldn't have had to shout to be sure she was heard. Ericka continued to chew on the gum, absently her fingers trailed through Claudia's hair, she had kept telling her to let her cut it, but she guessed with the mess she had made of it last time she wasn't about to let her do it again, but it was starting to get split ends.

Slow, deathly venom Grey cloudy skies The end is near! Woe, woe, woe These were the words going through Katherine De'Amour's head as she was forced out of the van by her siblings, one at a time. She was the first out, then her twin sister Annaleigh, then Claudia, then Zebbediah, and then Ericka. Unlike Ericka, Katherine did not have an Ipod, or cared for one. She did not ask any questions. She was quiet, and kept a suttle yet stern stare towards the humble redheaded woman. It was too bright outside for her liking, too sunny. She managed a slow frown and fingered the crucifix necklace around her scrawny neck. When she heard "Katie" Katherine looked up at the woman in utter and distinguished disgust. "My name isn't Katie. It's Katherine, please." She muttered, so lowly and so quietly she wondered if the woman she was supposed to call "Mom" even heard her. This place was so bland, and so plain...so boring. It was all too much alike. Same colors, same lawns, same looking people. Where was the unique-ness? Katherine sighed and licked her chapped dry lips. She was thirsty and hot, and could feel all the things a normal human could feel when one was under too much heat and stress. She looked down at her younger Siblings Claudia and Zebbediah, then at her twin sister who was the spitting image of herself. If it weren't for their clothing differences, Marie and Alan might not have been able to tell them apart at all. That could be a problem. Katherine's weary blue eyes observed and made a mental image of her new 'home' and bit her bottom lip. When Katherine chewed her lip, it either ment she was thinking or she was upset. And at the moment, it was both. She did not like the look of this place, and she did not like Marie, and if Marie was this horrible, she couldn't image how bad Alan was. From what she heard, Alan hated children and only did this for his Wife, to keep her out of his hair. A smirk crossed her lips as she thought, Hell, if I could do something to keep her out of my way, I'd do it too. Maybe Alan and Katherine weren't too different after all.

Annaleigh clamored out of the van, shooting a nasty glare at the social worker who had dropped them off. How could a day be so nice when their lives had just ended? Wasn't the world supposed to end too? Anna expected there to be clouds and lightening and loads of torrential down pours when the world ended. But instead it was suburbanite, sunny, cheery day, if a little warm for her tastes. She smiled at the new woman, their new "Mommy". "Hey. Ignore Ericka." She said quite plainly and calmly. She shot a look over to the eldest, not necessarily a warning, just a be nice. If it weren't for her jeans and pale green shirt she was half tempted to convince their Mom that she was Katherine. She looked over at her twin and reached for her hand. Much like with thunder storms, she did not have an affinity for new people or places. "Katherine," she whispered, "be nice to her. She's trying." |

| Alice ran a brush through her hair and tossed it on her vanity, slipping into her old polka-dotted flats. She walked out into the hallway, closing her bedroom door behind her. "I'm going out!" she yelled, slipping her phone into her back pocket. She preceeded into the kitchen and grabbed an apple from the fruit bowl on the counter. Turning around, she was surprised to find her older brother standing at the window. "Uhm...Kevin? What are you doing?" she asked, walking up behind him. Kevin pulled the curtains aside more, allowing Alice to peer outside. "Ms. Parker's new kids are here," he said simply. Alice raised her eyebrows, her interest spiked. "Wow. They look kinda . . . freakish," she commented, taking another slurpy bite of her apple. Kevin shrugged. "I dunno, that one looks kinda hot," he said. Alice rolled her eyes, socking him in the arm. "Oh, shut up," she spat, dropping the curtain. Kevin let out a laugh and turned away from the window. "I was only kidding!"

Claudia waited until the rest of the family was out of the large extended van meant for groups of ten, and after Annaleigh clambered out of the van, Claudia carefully stepped out. She looked at the social worker ,Joe, that had dropped them off and was sudenly overwhelmed by the want to flip him off. Claudia turned around from the van, suppressing that thought, and she noticed something that caught her eye. She looked back to the house, at first ignoring the woman that had come out. The house was so... bland. The grass was.... bland. Claudia looked to her left and down the road. It was all so... bland. This was going to be a mental nightmare to live in. Her mind began to fill with a strong annoyance, but she quickly dispersed it, shaking her head. She accomplished three things already at their new home, or rather a new hell hole. One, she knew this was going to be a horrible time in her life, two, she knocked her sisters hand out of her hair by shaking her head, and three, she realized that everything would be... bland. Claudia looked down from the houses and her eyes moved to the face of their new 'mother'. She had a stranger aura of happiness around her that Claudia didn't like. It seemed to artificial to be real. She took a few steps forward and looked behind her to make sure she was a good ways away from the road and saw a male human looking at them from the other side of the road. She glared at the male with a look in her eyes that said 'It's not right to stare, jackass'. She turned back around and sighed. She heard her name called and looked to the woman, her eye brows arching. "Yes, Marie, that is my name. You have accomplished so much to know it. Well done, and please, refrain from calling us by nicknames unless we desire it. It gets on some of my sisters nerves. Also, now that you have accomplished the HUGE feat of knowing our names and saying them, almost, correctly, would you mind showing us your home? Or rather, our home, if things go right." Claudia tapped her foot silently and looked to the woman. She looked into the womans eyes as she looked back, making sure to crush the woman with a stone hard look. The woman looked away before Claudia could accomplish that, and Claudia tugged against her sister's arm, pulling her down so she could whisper in Ericka's ear. "This will be hell, if something isn't done to prevent that. Don't you agree? If we ever get into the house, meet me in my room if it isn't too much of a bother. We are going to change this place into a more... suitable home for us."

Ericka ignored Annaleigh's look, she smiled slightly though for the first time in a week when Claudia pushed her hand away. The song her Ipod then switched to wasn't one of her most favorites, so she had to pull the device out of her pocket and switch the song, instead she pulled the ear phones out though when Claudia tugged on her sleeve, she knelt down to make it easier for the little girl to whisper in her ear. Ericka grinned at what Claudia said, she then turned round, and whispered into her sisters ear, "it is never a bother for me to help my younger siblings" she then kissed the little girl lightly on the cheek and stood once more, even if she was thirsty her self, she would still open a vein to stop her siblings suffering any day. Ericka heard a dog yapping off in the distance and wondered if she should make that creature her first meal, the way everything was so close though, and everything was so open...oh this was not going to be good.

Mathew filed out of the van with the others, moving mindlessly with the group, and was payed little attention to. Consequently, he payed little attention to anything. He pocketed the small, red book he had been reading, patting twice and keeping it close to his side, then looked up. His heart sank. Everything was ordinary. Sunny, bright, not a single cloud. Mathew searched for one almost desperately, but there was nothing that gave even a hint that this was the worst day of his life. On top of this, he was hungry. Hungry for blood, human blood, not some random animal's. Though any animal's would do, he realized with a grimace, if only he got an opportunity. He would willingly take the blood of anyone, anything, if it was safe to do so. And soon, he wouldn't even care about safety. Despite the great amount of hunger that lurked throughout Mathew's thin body, nobody noticed, or cared. Somebody rode by on a bicycle, ringing the bell once to a neighbor and again to shoo a dog out of his way. An old woman across the street picked up the local paper, then shuffled back into her home with a tired sigh. Mundane, Mathew decided. That's the best way to describe this. Horribly, dangerously mundane. |

"Well, aren't you just adorable, being such a big girl for your big sisters?" Marie asked in response to Claudia's acidic approach towards her new caretaker. She knelt down to Claudia's level and squeezed her cheeks for a mere second before standing again, blind to any sort of reaction from the young girl. "But I would like to apologize to you two," she said to the twins. "I looked at those photos so closely, I can't believe I mixed you two up. But I won't forget again, honest. Katie, Anna, it's in my head as sure as cats are cute. But look at me, chattering on like this. Of course you'll want to see your rooms." Beckoning, she tapped her way back to the house. "Off with shoes now, I won't be having anyone tracking anything on my house," she said as the children filed in. It was surprisingly strict compared to how she had spoken before, but it still had that bubbly quality to it that made sane men want to join monastaries. While the children grudgingly removed their footwear, Marie's attention wandered. Directly across from the door was the stairs to the upstairs. To the left and right of the door were the living room and the dining room, respectively, both almost inhumanly perfect in their cleanliness. But what caught her eye the most were the items that were housed in every possible corner in sight, things that could only be thought of as "homey touches". These were normal for her. She loved this house dearly and felt sure that the kids would love it, too. Her attention snapped back to the kids right when they had finished taking off their shoes. Her heels were already miraculously off, so she just started talking again, beckoning them towards her as she did so. "Okay, now, all of your rooms have already been set up up... here. Now, we only had three free rooms, so Ericka and Claudia, Katie and Anna, you're going to have to share rooms. Matty's the only one with his own room and that is... through this door right here." She twisted the handle and pushed the door inwards with a grand gesture. Inside was what she knew to be a young boy's paradise. There was sports paraphenalia everywhere. She'd actually needed to buy a bookshelf in order to place some of the things on because she had run out of space on the nightstand and dresser. Smiling with pride, she walked over to the next door, and opened it. It was like a garden inside, with every color accounted for by various flowers placed around the room. And every flower was, quite obviously, fake. Some were wax, others paper, but no eye would be able to find a single living thing in that room. On each end of the room was an identical bed. "This one belongs to Anna and Katie. I always wanted lots of flowers in my room when I was younger, so I thought that you should get them. No need to thank me," she said as she walked over to the third and final door. Opening it revealed... pink. More shades of pink than should, legally, be allowed in a single five-mile radius. Once one's eyes got used to this, further inspection revealed stuffed animals throughout the room, as well as a small desk with a pink laptop on it. There were, again, two beds in this room, one a twin-size, the other a full-size. On the smaller bed was a large, again, pink, stuffed unicorn. "And this room is going to belong to Ericka and Claudia. I figured that I'd spend an extra buck and get you a laptop, Ericka, since you're going to be a senior when school starts. Alan already set up the wireless on it, so don't you worry about that. "Well, now that everybody knows where they're going to be sleeping, how about you all have some fun? You could go outside and play if you want- Oh! I know the perfect thing! I've got Monopoly in a closet. It's my favorite game but Alan, I love him, but he won't play with me anymore. Says I take too long to make decisions. But you'll all play with me, right?" she gave them all a hopeful smile, waiting to hear that they would all play with her.

Claudia was enraged when the woman touched her on her face. No one was ever allowed to do that if they weren't family. She angrily attempted to bat the hand away, but before she tried, the woman was already ushering the group into the house. Claudia walked in the middle of the family, like she always did. When she was told to take off her shoes, she did, easily sliding out of the sneakers that were a size to big for her. She followed the woman and when she one again heard the blatant use of nicknames, she readied herself to 'accidentally' kick the woman in the back of the leg. Though when she was readying her knee, the door opened and revealed a horrid room filled with so much sports posters, fake trophies, and other, unnameable to her, items. She lowered her leg and only one thought passed her mind for a few seconds. 'Ouch............... It's going to suck really badly for Mathew. Well, at least for today and tomorrow..' The group then walked to the next room, Katherine and Annaleigh's room. Once again the door revealed a horrible bedroom. Everything was fake. Everything. It was so horrible to even think about for too long. She shook her head as a similar though passed her mind as the last one had. Then they walked to her and Ericka's room. Just as the though registered that the room might be bad, the door opened and a pink glow emanated from the room. Claudia wavered near the door and she tumbled back against the wall. She sank down to the floor. This was going to be horrible. She remembered about her plan and quickly shook her head to clear away the horrid thoughts that had just entered her mind. She stood back up, and when the woman offered for a board game, she immediately began to shake her head no. But when the woman offered to play with them, she jerked her head up and scream. "NO!...... I mean.... No. I don't think that I want to play any board games. I'll... I'll just go outside."
