"Nice to meet you Bridget. I think the girl in the truck's a journalist, there's not much demand for it. Or anything else, really. It's a shame, really. If things were going better, we'd probably be employed," George said, stating the obvious.

The conversation flew quickly through her mind.
"California?" She inquired, a calming tone coming from her lips. "A better life...there? How far is it from here?" If there was a chance - a chance to move on, make a new life and leave her woes behind, she'd take it in a heart beat. She'd be able to finally let go the dreadful remembrance of her husband. It was then her eyes were pulled to the chirper French woman. An eyebrow raised, slowly getting to her feet and looking back at George. "California...That is where I will go." She nodded, pulling out of his arms. "Thank you...for comforting me." She turned to walk away, smoothing out her apron and fixing the bow in her hair. [OOC: Lol, noticed I kept saying John. Sorry.]

"What of her?" She tilted her head in the direction of the french journalist.
She's pretty sure everyone wants to go to California, so would there really be room? Would she spoil her one and only chance of living somewhere where things will be better? She's given up most hope for herself but she only tightened her grip on her apron. "Why be so nice?"

"Thank you for taking me," Bridget looked down at her shoes again. "I'm a pretty good typist, maybe someone will hire me as a secretary. Yes, hopefully, but as they say Le puits d'Alls finira bien!" She smiled and held out a hand for him to shake. "I only wondered if you would be going Miss.

"What of her? Why be so nice?"
George looked at Blanch and said "There's room for both of you, don't worry. I guess it's just the way I am." The man shook Bridget's hand, saying "It's not a problem. I'm just hoping we all can find jobs." (OCC: I didn't even notice that you were saying John. I've confused my rp characters too, it's not a big deal.) |

Bridget turned towards the woman again. "My name is Bridget, I did not catch yours." She smiled and extended a hand. "I too hope we can have jobs, I need money to get back to France. If I get really lucky someone will need a French translator, they get paid good money. I heard of one lady that got paid almost a dollar a day!" Her eyes lit up at the thought of that much money.

"I'm Blanche..." She shook the girl's hand and turned back to George with an optimistic look taking over her face. "...and I hope to really make a new life out in California now."
She opened up her bag and revealed a few dollars she saved up over the past years. It was more then enough to help them for a bit. "My husband left some money for me. Maybe this can help us on our way."
