The space around Astalon was busy with activity as the Ebon Angel entered one of the several large space stations in orbit. Over the past several months more and more reports had been coming in about increasing tension outside of the Mythlar Combine. The Counsel of Eight were understandably on edge over the whole mater. The Jek'Tarr and Pathar people were both calling for military action, if only to 'sedate' local civilizations. It wasn't really surprising both peoples reveled in conflict and some had spoken out of late saying that Combine had been at peace for to long. Jeanaiel had been called in by the Counsel only two hours previous and the Ebon Angel had made good time returning to Astalon, arriving ahead of the other commanders that had been called in.

Stepping out of a phase portal on Astalons surface with Hayle at her back, Jeanaiel made her way through the grand palace to the counsel chambers. She wanted to know what the Counsel had in store for the combine before it was openly announced. Two guards stepped aside, opened the large doors into the main chamber and saluted as Jeanaiel swept past them, Hayle just a step behind. The eight council members looked up at her approach, some of them clearly displeased. Jeanaiels attitude towards the Counsel was well know among the higher-ups. The counsel had given orders in the past that had damaged the Combines relationships with several other races, orders Jeanaiel had strongly disagreed with. Had she not been a member of the Tai A'sha order the counsel would have likely tried to have her removed from command. Much of the counsel had been replaced since those orders, but the resentment remained.

She never raised her voice when dealing with the Counsel, she didn't need to. Her status in the Tai A'sha order carried enough weight to make most combine citizens think twice. When the doors opened and Jeanaiel left the chamber, several of the counsel members looked down-right sullen, muttering under their breath and glaring at the doorway. Jeanaiel didn't look much happier for that matter, Her sapphire eyes were sharp and lips compressed, Hayle followed silently. People hurriedly got out of her way as she made her way through the halls, more from the look on her face than from respect for her rank. She payed little outward attention to anything on her way back to the Ebon Angel, her mood not changing until she boarded the Angel and entered the command deck.

Walking to the helm station she placed her hand on the shoulder of the young officer seated at the console and spoke softly "Get us out of dock and set a heading for the Alandar system, maximum speed. Depart as soon as we are free of the gravity well." Walking back to the centre of the deck Jeanaiel paused and looked around at the crew. "I will not lie to you." The crew all stopped to listen as she addressed them. "The orders the Counsel has given us may see the Mythlar Combine plunged into war, Likely with us on the front lines when the mud starts flying. We will link up with the First and Seventh fleets in the Alandar system, I will issue the rest of our orders then." A glance and nod to Hayle, letting her know she had command for the time being and Jeanaiel strode off the command deck headed for her quarters. More than just fleet arrangements needed to be made, some of which the crew could not know about.

Camalus strolled around the Chromatus Devastator with Kass, just the way he walked showed that he was a bored man and Camalus was not a man you wanted to be bored. Camalus spoke in a raised voice "Damn this galaxy so much tension yet no war I need something to do I need jobs a war something". Camalus kicked an empty can out of frustration. Kass speaking softly "There will be war soon enough maybe you should just enjoy this time of peace and revamp the fleet again and give some of the crew some R and R"

Camalus snorts, and replied "These are mercs and my men and woman they know nothing but of war and death they need no rest, their only need is for money to restock the weapons, ammo and food. Also the fleet has been refit 3 times since our last job" They hear a scurrying sound and camalus automatically spins around and levels his energy sword at Kavarlmus camalus spoke in a warm tone "My friend how many time have I told you not to do that one day its going to get you killed" Kavarlmus replied sincerly "I could not help but overhear you conversation and I must agree the men and woman are getting restless, if war does not come soon maybe we should make an attempt at starting it"

Kass yelled "Are you crazy you want us to attack a civilization" Kavarlmus chuckles "Give me more credit please I was thinking of a clever way than that, I was thinking of maybe attacking and destroying a perimeter security force and planting some debris after the battle of another faction ship with its marking, then we go to the other faction and do the same trick, this should hopefully set them at each others throats and maybe open up some jobs." Camalus ponders for a moment or two and responds "You are a clever one my friend, I'd rather not take that option but if war does not come fast enough we may have to attempt it, send some ships to the ship junk yards and grab some markings off some of the newer ships just in case"

Kavarlmus marches off and starts barking some orders out and shortly a few small ships set off on their mission. Kass asks enquiringly "Do you think it's a wise idea my love?" "A last resort my dear but the last thing we need is inner politics because of a restless crew, and the men that have been set out are doing nothing wrong they are just salvaging and in unmarked vessels." Camalus and Kass then head off to their cabin to relax and enjoy each other.

Admiral Arimov sighed. It was going to be a long day. He straightened his uniform and beret, smoothed his medals, and mentally prepared himself for the task ahead. Sibley, I definitely hope you're ready for this. Remember, it was I that signed that letter of recommendation.

Yes, sir. I appreciate your faith in me, Admiral. I hope I'm ready for this as well. The Valkyrie will be my first time in the captain's position, sir. Sibley was nervous. He had commanded ground troops for most of his military career, and he had served aboard the Valkyrie for the past six months. It had been the Admiral's ship up to this point, but he was retiring from active duty today and being transferred to a more routine command position aboard the Titan I. It was an exciting day for the both of them. He was getting his first ship, and the Admiral was getting the most prestigious position in all of the Confederate Navy. Jason had never seen Admiral Arimov so nervous. It barely showed, but he seemed like he might run away screaming if any more stress was put upon him. It was going to be an interesting day.

Councilman Victors watched as the two soldiers were led into the room by one of the Council's pages. As they walked forward, the two men had to raise their heads slightly for their eyes to remain on the High Council on the platform above. He nodded to them, smiling, before returning to his more serious official demeanor. When they reached the edge of the ceremonial platform, they both saluted in perfect form. The Council spoke in unison. "Admiral Samuel Arimov, today you receive a very prestigious command. Today, you recieve the flagship of the Confederate fleets. Today.. You receive the Titan. The Council stood, causing all in attendance to rise. Admiral, do you understand and accept this honor?

Samuel Arimov was stiff as a board in the most perfectly performed attention of his life. "Honorable Council, I fully understand the responsibility and honor that comes with this position, and I vow to uphold the respectability and values that the Confederacy now expects of me. I gladly and gratefully accept the position. One of the senior staff of the Council came down to meet Arimov. He bore a small ebony box that he opened when he was at the Admiral's side. In it was the small, yet significant seven pointed star of the High Admiral's position. The man slowly pinned it to his chest.

Again, the Council spoke in unison. High Admiral Samuel Arimov, you have now recieved the seven pointed star of the Confederate Fleets. One star for every fleet under your command. Though the medal is small, the responsibility it represents is immense. We wish you luck the journey ahead.

The now High Admiral Arimov bowed before the council, pivoted, placed a reassuring hand on Sibley's shoulder, and left the room.

"Lieutenant Commander Jason Sibley, please step forward. Lt. Commander, your service record speaks more than any volume ever could of your merit. Today, you receive the command of the Valkyrie. The Valkyrie shall be the face of the Confederacy to the rest of the galaxy. Lt. Commander, your actions will be the mouth of our entire civilization. You will be given free reign to do as you please, to represent the Confederacy to the best of your ability. Today, you not only receive a ship. No, today you receive something more. After this ceremony, you will be officially a member of the Lancers, the Confederacy's most elite and powerful organization. You will be one of three members. Do you understand and accept these responsibilities?

Yes, High Council. I understand that, to the rest of the Confederate systems, my word will be law. I understand that my actions will be upon what the rest of the galaxy judges the Confederacy. I also understand that I will be observed, and my actions will be rewarded or punished by my choice. I understand the great responsibilities of the position, and I would be greatly honored to accept it.

A woman descended the steps. This was not a staff member of the council, however. This was Lt. Torin Garrison, a career marine, like him, who was to be the one to give him his medal. He respected and trusted Torin, and he had requested that she be the one to perform the duty. The Council had allowed it, and here she was. She marched forward, the little ebony box clasped tightly in her hands. Sibley fought back a smile. He had never seen her lose her cool, commanding aura, and yet here she was, as nervous as he was. She stepped forward and opened the box. The medal inside was bigger than the one the Admiral had been given, because it was not only a medal, but a badge of service. As Torin placed the medal on his chest, she smiled slightly, not enough to where the council would see, but enough to where Sibley could see she was happy to see him. As she stepped back, the High Council spoke. "Lt. Commander Sibley, we offer you congratulations on your promotion to the Lancers, and we wish you luck for the task set before you. Remember that you now not only represent the Confederate military and the troops under your command, but the whole of the Confederacy. We hope that you will keep that in mind as you set about your duties."

With that, Lt. Commander Sibley, now an honored Lancer, pivoted and left the chambers.

Cadaver smiled with glee as the Lord Loss cruised towards the planet named Vein. A small rebellion of humans had struck out against the small platoon of demons posted there, and having been suprised with the attack, had called on the passing Demonica fleet.

The Demonata descended on Vein, with Slawter still firing away. TheLord Loss landed nearby. The demon master in charge of this planet hurried on-board.

" Lord, thank-you for assisting use," The master panted.

" You are a fool Alba," Cadaver said coolly ", You have shamed our race, falling to these wrectched humans, Slit"

SLit moved over to the pleading demon master, and one well-aimed slash, cut his throat with a sword. Cadaver laughed as he fell to the ground in a pool of blood

"Slit, make sure a few of these humans are captured, i'll have A bit of fun torturing them on the way to Bec,"

Scanning... Priority 1 Distress Signal detected... Logged and emailed to Captain Soban...

Nikkad'arital Soban sat in his office in the Ter'ran Imperial Fleet Command, the Forward Unto Dawn was being refitted with the latest Railguns turrets and Photon Torpedo tubes. He had been patrolling the outer systems of the Empire for so long that he had forgotten to stop at a starbase for a weapon's inspection. Though it was irresponsible and Soban knew it, he was protected by Empress herself. She was giving him special treatment for being her godfather, and being such was an honor that could outshine any dishonor, he still felt guilty for many things Kida had just brushed aside. He started to stare out the window, into the main city of Arcia'nesch with its 140 million inhabitance. Blue-white skyscrapers rose into the sky, each was not without a crest of the Ter'ran Empire. In the middle of the city, surrounded by parks, lawns and magnificent architecture and landscaping, was the Imperial Palace of Kida'gadesch. It was the oldest building left in Arcia'nesch, but it had been taken care of by the Imperial Historics Agency and was updated with the latest in comforts, security and, because of Kida's constant rants, Holonet Television. Soban smirked, "She's an emperor, but still a child at heart." He looked back at his computer and saw a new message icon. He clicked it and a video began to play, "This is Sergeant Micheal Jones of the Vein 230th Regiment! *Static* Billions killed! We've been holding out for days now, they just keep- *Static* Incoming! Hold the line! Get to the Plasma Turrets!" Soban saw a strange red creature come bounding into the lines and tear one of the soldiers apart, Jones raised his assault rifle and shot it, the creature seemed to catch on fire and then disappear, Jones got back into the camera's view and looked at it pleadingly, "If anyone receives this signal! If anyone is out there, remember us! And send these vile demons back to the hell the came from!" Jones then ran away from the camera as a Colonel yelled for a counter attack, the Men jumped out of the trenches and disappeared, the camera now looked at a bleak trench, bodies here and there and crossfire flashing over the trenches. The message ended.

Soban wasted no time, this information, confirmed to be from a planet about 560 light-years from the boarder of Ter'ran space, was sent directly to Supreme Commander Voss'aran. Who reviewed the message with the same reaction as Soban, "This could be our warning for an impending catastrophe, it is good that you got this to me as soon as you could, Soban." Soban nodded, "It is my duty... What would you say about the situation?" Voss'aran sighed and rubbed his forehead, "Humans are weak, little beings. The Ter'ran Empire has about 10 billion humans in its population. As an underlying minority, we are not obligated to defend island populations of them. But the choice of how we treat this threat is up to the Empress herself. Bring it to her, and please... Tell her to consider all the outcomes." Soban nodded, taking the data disk and walked out of the office.

Soban soon found himself on the streets of Arcia'nesch, heading for the Palace's rear gate. It was about 5:30 and heavy traffic crawled along in the civilian lanes. The elevated Government lanes were clear and allowed Soban's car to travel effortlessly across the city. He stopped in the Palace Parking lot and sighed, thinking about the battle going on the message. It had been so long since a real war had faced the Empire and people had gotten used to the peace, they were even thinking about demolishing defense ion cannons to make room for schools, houses and office buildings. Now a possible war sat in the palm of Soban's hand, stories and myths of the violent Ter'ran past, "Back then..." He thought aloud, "It would be just another war..." He unbuckled and got out, speedwalking to the gate.

Default It's Never Easy

The Deviant hung in low orbit about a large asteroid on which a small military compound had been constructed. A few hours earlier a single transport pod bearing three passengers had left the pirate ship and descended to the surface to rendezvous with the leaders of the compound.

Dressed in her usual leather corset and pink skirt Maryna Glyf stood at the ships helm, staring out of the view screen onto the small silver speck that was the military compound. She sighed heavily and turned to face the few crew present, "Any word from the transport pod?" She spoke to no on in particular.

A green light lit up on one of the panels and a tall silver skinned male creature by the name of Lar spoke as he pressed the adjacent button, "incoming transmission m'lady."

Maryna turned to face the view screen and the image changed from the rocky surface below to the interior of the landed transport pod. In the screens center was a humanoid male with slicked back golden hair and soft blue eyes.

"Hello Reld, how is the weather down there?" Maryna smiled as she saw the familiar face.

"It's freakin' cold." The man grinned and started his report without need for a request, "The Restin have shown the payment and are now demanding to see their goods. I don't like the looks of things Maryna, I only counted three of them and they insisted they are installed here by themselves, but Jax has been doing silent scans of the compound from the pod and detected at least forty other lifeforms in there."

Maryna sighed heavily, "I know, we spotted a Restin stealth fighter trying to keep itself hidden the shadow of the asteroid. We've been watching it for an hour now. I doubt things will go as smoothly as we had been hoping."

"We just can't get an easy job." Reld laughed, "well, what would be the fun in that anyway. So are you sending the goods?"

"Not like we have much choice, you know how transactions work. I expect everyone to be back on board The Deviant within the day and to be away from these foul things."

"As you wish m'lady." Reld winked at her and the view screen faded back to an image of the cool gray rock that the were orbiting.

Maryna turned around to again face the crew that was on deck, "Send out the transport pod with the Diffusion Drive, and I want one of our fighters to keep a closer eye on that stealth ship - if it does anything fancy hit with a Coms Scatter and destroy it."

With that order all but Lyr departed from the main deck and began to go about preparing for the task ahead. Although Maryna never said to they would prepare for a battle with the Restin.

Lyr straightened up and faced Maryna, "Permission to speak m'lady?"

Maryna smiled at him and chuckled as she shook her head side to side, "Lyr, you are only a slave in the eyes of the Syndicate - when we are out here in the middle of the galaxy you are just another crew member like the rest of us. All we have is each other out here, no reason to add layers of segregation."

Smiling momentarily Lyr spoke, his voice deep and almost musical, "I sense that you knew it would come to this. If you did, why did you take the job?"

Maryna looked disconcerted, "The Restin are a blood thirsty group of reptilian scoundrels. Yes I knew coming here would lead to this - but if we can get our hands on the technology they are pretending to offer us this kind of thing will no longer be a worry. I just hope everything works out."

The KRU had just finished a private meeting, located in the Kaho Star Base, not far from the atmosphere of Kaho. They discussed the issues concerning the Galactic War that has raised awareness across the Galaxy. The KRU are un-decided on whether or not to join the War as of yet.

They then moved on to discuss about Valborg, the Command Ship under construction at the Star Base, and how they feel the ship will affect power of the Kahoian Republic dramatically.

Meanwhile, Master Neo-Yashumi was as at the Yashumi Temple on Kaho, meditating in the training grounds, while his students practiced their skills doing various techniques and practices.

Soon later, Commander Sasho Galleon arrives, to give news to Neo. “I’ve heard rumors about the KRU discussing plans to join the Galactic War. I think it’s about time my men and I finally get to shoot something more high rate than just some weak rebels.” “Don’t be so foolish.” Neo replied, as he got to his feet, breaking his focus. “Kahoians and Hikakees are peaceful, there’s not a chance on this Galaxy that they will agree with the Humans in the KRU to join the War.”

Aryl Sway overheard the two chatting, while he was slashing his sword through the air, in a focused stance. He looked around to see the other young Warriors in training, like himself, who have great potential according to Master Neo.

“Most of us aren’t ready for communicating with troubled enemies, let alone raging War with them! I sure hope the Master is right.” Aryl thought, as he regained his focus, and tried to fade out the things going on around him.

“Listen, mister Yashumi, I understand that your Kahoian yourself, and you believe in socializing before obliterating. Now that may seem all good with you, but one day, someone or something is going to bite this planet on the ass, simply because we didn’t fight when we had the chance.” Sasho said, as he stared into Neo’s eyes.

“But you don’t understand Sasho, This Planet has no reason to get involved with this War, it’s as simple as that.” Yashumi raised his voice, showing his annoyance at the Commander, but soon calmed himself down, as he sat back down, and started his meditation again. “Now Commander, I’m sure you have somewhere better to be than here” He said, as he pointed towards the large exit doors.

"Give all demons the order to destroy, send the bombers, fighters.. everything we have at them!" Cadaver commanded. ", And bring in reinforcements from Salic. And make sure Slawter has all guns firing at the human base" Cadaver rose from his chair " The time for war has come my freinds..now UNLEASH HELL!"

The demons swept over the humans, tearing them limb from limb, attacking 4 demons to one human. A human would struggle against a single demon. The horde ripped the humans to shreds. The stronger demons came along after them, ripping the human force apart, taking three or four with each attack.

Slawter rained hell down on them, taking 1/4 of the rebellion by itself, with Lord Loss following.

Cadaver addressed the human leader through his radio "Now human, shall we create an alliance, and together, take over Novena. Or do I summon forth the entire cargo of the Demonata?"

Cadaver retuned his radio "Camulus, can you hear me? I am Cadaver, Lord of the Demonica. I have a high-paying job for you," Cadaver looked out the window of the Lord Loss. Down below, his Demons were ripping a group of humans to shreds. He had given thm the order to make sure they destroyed anything that got in their way as they procceded to the Human base.
