UNMANNED SENSOR PLATFORM 358-T SENDING AUTOMATED SUBSPACE ALERT...
...Vessel of unknown configuration detected at edge of sensor range... ...Drone dispatched to monitor vessel... ...Vessel threat level low, light vessel, likely scout... ...Recommend sending additional assessment equipment and personnel... ...END ALERT. ----------------------------- Unity Command, Unity star system, Xemnas cloud The hub that served as the heart of the JCF housed at least three dozen personnel at any one time. Some seated at consoles around the outer edge of the room, some working at free standing display screens closer to the middle. The centre of the large room was taken up by an almost real time holographic display of the entire Mythlar Combine. Fleet movements, planets, orbital defence platforms, registered commercial freighters, all of it tracked by a large network of sensory platforms spread throughout combine space and beyond its borders. With the network in operation no enemy force had successfully entered combine space undetected in over three hundred years. And so when the unidentified ship flashed up on the display and the automated message came through from the sensor platform the large room got a little busier. Lady Jeanaiel Targe now stood at the foot of the holographic display, using a small console at its base to call up all relevant data that the sensor platform and its drone had sent in. the platform had classified the ship as 'a low threat' based on visible armaments, it wasn't programmed to think about the bigger picture. A scout could be just that, or it could be the vanguard for a much larger force. The ship was still outside Combine space however, destroying or detaining the ship could cause undesired effects with other factions in the Tallos galaxy. In the end the decision was made to send a small task force, headed by a special operative and backed by one of the Combines better mobile squadrons.

Experimental Battleship, Shadowsun, Xemnas Cloud
Mission, test Archaic Stealth Fields by 'sneaking up' on the Katana Mission Enroute to Planet 0010, eta 4 hours ----------------------- Ter'ra Prime, Katana Landing crew ----------------------- "*ssshhhchchhchhchhhhhhhh*...known det...*sssssscshshcshchshhshhshshcchh*..." The Har'ai tapped his comm unit, "Come again Har'sha! I did not get that last transmission!" The Har'ai waited, tapping the comm unit again, then beating it slightly with his palm, "Damn... Dra'sha! What is causing this interference!?" The smart Drakojan looked at a pad computer and tapped a few things, "I can barely detect it through the interference, Har'ai... But there seems to be a dust storm containing radioactive material... We better go!" The Har'ai looked around, the bleak remains of the city could hide so much, but it wasn't worth the lives of his brothers in arms. He looked at the men, they had been poorly equipped to deal with dust storms as they were wearing just basic armor, but it was the Drakojans he was most worried about. They wore minimal protection from events such as these lest it hinder their ability to fly. It was a hard decision, but one that had to be made, "Dra'sha! You cannot survive this if the dust storm reaches us before we make it to the ship... Me, Senai, Bato and Himura are going to tough it out and try and get the rover. You will find shelter with Carmine, and we'll come back to pick you up, understand. The American Soldier shouldered his pulse rifle, "Don' worry bout it, boss. I'll baby sit the goods." The other soldiers laughed, but the Har'ai and the Drakojans said nothing, "Get there, We will be back!" Har'ai and the Har'sha moved off toward the steadily darkening part of the sky, while Carmine and the Drakojans began looking for the nearest shelter. The Har'ai didn't like breaking up the team, but it seemed like it was necessary. Then again, something knocked against the back of his mind and he just couldn't shake the feeling someone... or something... was watching them. |

Cruiser Magnon, Xemnas cloud.
Zane stood to the left of the command chair of the Magnon as its captain gave the order to prepare the mobile squadron for launch. Magnon would be exiting FTL speeds in a little under a minute and the captain wanted the squadron ready to go as soon as they did. The multi form fighter/mechs were the best single pilot operated craft the combine had, they outperformed conventional fighters as well as bombers and were far more adaptable than either. capable of being equipped with a wide range of weaponry and highly manoeuvrable on land, in the air or in space. They also cost considerably more to manufacture and so were only given to veteran pilots, such as the squadron under the command of Hark'los, a Jek'Tarr pilot of fierce reputation in the JCF. No sooner had the Magnon dropped from FTL did Hark'los' squadron shoot out of the port and starboard launch tubes to take up a defensive formation around the cruiser while the two fighter squadrons that were standard on cruisers of the Magnons class were loaded into the now empty tubes to join them. Zane watched on as the Magnons captain ordered his ship into an orbit of the nearby planet that the unknown ship had been recorded landing on. Two destroyers that made up the rest of the task force began scouting the rest of the system as this was done.

Katana, Planet 0010, Xemnas Cloud
----------------- The two Human Pilot Har'sha sat in the Katana's cockpit, looking at the viewport, as there was almost nothing else to see beyond it aside from swirling dust and a few destroyed buildings here and there, "Get the medroom active... Very few if any will be alright." The other Pilot nodded and began to walk down to the short hallway, when the first pilot grabbed his shoulder, "Hold on! I can barely detect it, but I think theres a ship in orbit!" The other pilot looked at the screen, a red blip appeared and disappeared, flickering on and off like a broken streetlight, "Launch the probe! We cannot lift off, not while he team is lost in that dust storm!" The other pilot nodded and ran to the probe room, sliding one of the miniature sattilites into the missile tube. It blasted off from the Katana and soared above the clouds settling in a low orbit, once connected, the pilots looked at the telemetry, "That is quite a ship... Are we sure that there were no signals of intelligent life on this planet?" The other pilot nodded, "No sentient biosigns..." Wind-blasted wastes -------------------- The Har'ai and his men trudged through the wasteland, time seemed to have no meaning, even though they all had clocks in their helmets, "Har'ai, do you think the others found shelter?" The Har'ai didn't answer, continuing to walk, a feeling that something was coming was hanging over him. |
