Illithos personally felt insulted by such words. He knew his army had no chance versus their army, but to be arrogant and put it in his face was an act of disrespect. His arms were to his side, and his left hand seemed to be forming a somewhat semi solid dark red plasma, shaped a long blade, but instantly dissipated. He shouldn't be losing to his anger. His weapon wasn't supposed to be revealed, and just hoped that it wasn't easily seen or taken as a weapon. It would be bad for him. Another cold stare was given to the fine woman, and death could be seen in his eyes. " Please, may I remind you that these items are ours, and that such talk is disrespectful. This isn't act act of war to send being like me, but just people that want their possessions back. And may I ask how you've known where I was and what I was here for?" He said, his temper cooling off.

She laughed. "You think I would reveal my nation's secrets? The reach of the Confederation extends across the world. We will know anything we wish to know. And you have no more claim to these items than anyone else. If any elven group has any remote claim to them, it would be the Grey Elves. But I doubt you want those necromancy-obssessed fossils to have these artifacts anymore than us to. The Elven empire once consisted of all elves, and so any elf can have a claim to them. These artifacts were stolen by us. We exchanged in fair trade with the Dark elves of here. Which, need I remind you, are nearly the polar opposites of the rather more imfamous and evil dark elves from the underdark." "If you really want them back, you'll either have to trade with us, or the local dark elves. But I suggest you drop the bigotry. Now, let us wait for a moment. What say the rsst of our little group?"

Latlieya realised there was much she did not know about the world, all this talk of artifacts being well above her understanding. She felt a pang of guilt as she thought back on her upbringing, having ignored most of the things that were attempted taught to her by her elders. Nevertheless, it sounded interesting enough. It was important to learn about one's heritage after all, she had learned that much in the past few years. And what was this talk about dark elves not being the very incarnation of evil? She had heard enough about her "cousins" to be cautious at the very least. Then again there were variables she was not aware of. She snapped to attention once the consule once again spoke to them, "I look forward to seeing what these lands have to offer in terms of experience. My abilities are at your disposal." A faint smile danced on her lips for a brief moment before her face returned to its former nondescript expression.

Consul Larias smiled. "Excellent." Unlike her words to the angry high elf, Larias was quite polite when speaking to Latieya.

"Enough." The old human had decided that the present company had already wasted enough of his time. He already knew the best way for him to fight today, and he was already prepared for the day's mission. He stepped in between the two elves and the Consul who were exchanging..."pleasantries." "You. Elf. I don't care about your history. I don't care about what you may or may not have done, that's not a part of why we're here. They have something you want? They willing to give it to you? If so, then toughen up and stop taking offense to every little thing the Consul says. I'll give you some advice and this one's for free; you shouldn't be wearing your weakness on your sleeve like that." He regarded the Wild Elf for a moment, then decided that nothing was wrong with her actions, then he turned to the council. "And you...I've fought in wars held by this country. I've seen the destructive force that the federation is capable of. What I did not see, however, was the blatant arrogance shown by you in this room today. I didn't fight for a nation of snobs, willing to taunt anyone they see fit, merely because they can. You've already wasted enough of our time by making us wait for your..." He paused "...dramatic arrival. Now tell me, what's this puzzle and how do we go about finishing the job?" Last edited by MorseusVII; 07-03-2009 at 03:43 PM. |

OOC: Gunslinger is the High Elf. Omega is the Dark Elf. IC: The Consul shook her head. "I was not taunting him. I was making sure he understood the situation. the Confeferation will not tolerate blatant acts of theft by anyone. But enough of that. The job I need you to do is this: Find out how the Brigol Bandits know exactly when and where the trade convoys from further inland are coming, and the perfect way to attack them.

Silinrul watched the exchange go on between the high elf and the consul about the artifacts and their history. It was mostly irrelevant to him though, both because he cared little for his high elf cousins and because he doubted there was anything the confederation could offer him. His needs were simple and wants equally so, gold weighed him down more than it helped quite frankly. The wild elf he could certainly associate more with though, she seemed merely interested in the adventure and experience. That he could always find on his own though so the Confederation could not offer that either. Even though Silinrul doubted that The Confederation could truly offer him anything worthwhile he stayed, listening long enough to at least find out what he was wanted for. Though when he did find it he was thoughroughly disappointed by the quest. Raising one eyebrow as he thought before answering he spoke blatantly to the Consul, "Isn't it obvious? You have a leak in your organization."

Eriv sat there, still chewing on her apple. In truth, she was mightily disturbed by this woman. Something about her didn't feel... right. The way she spoke about Elven artifacts and the way that the high elf responded gave her the sinking feeling that she knew something very intimate about the company here -- and Eriv didn't like being known intimately. That was how spies got compromised. The gnome, deciding that the woman was a diviner of some sorts, thus split her attention between two things: The conversation at hand and trying to make a sort of mental barrier against the Consul's divining magics. It distracted her to do so, but she'd prefer not to be a bucket of information for this Confederation officer. What made this situation annoying was that nobody would offer vast volumes of information concerning their own nation's inner workings to someone as a reward. Well, she could always get some artifacts and information out of this job. Said artifacts could be donated to her superiors, who would distribute them fairly... Eriv listened a little longer to the speech. Her persona scratched her nose in a lazy way and rolled her eyes boredly before letting out a sigh. "Well," she said, standing up slowly, "we're all bes' friends now, aren't we?" Eriv grinned, shoving the apple back into her mouth and taking a huge bite of it before letting it fall to the floor. She licked her lips, smiling and half-closing her eyes. "... Damn, tha's one good apple." The Whisper Gnome shrugged, then spat out a seed. "Now 'en, before we start argumentin' again, how's 'bout some details on this job? These bandits, they got treasure? How many is they? And what's they up to, eh? Because I'm sure you're not hirin' sword-swingers like us to do no less than butcher the bastards whole heartedly." Sometimes, Eriv Ebonlight really did enjoy acting like a thug.

The Consul sighed at the Dark Elf's comment. "I'm quite aware of that. But my organization is rather large. The leak could be anywhere. So instead, I'd like you to go and see if you can find out where their hideout is, and deal with them. I'm sure one of them can tell you who the leak is." OOC: Periodically, possibly becuase there is something to find, and possibly because there isn't I will ask everyone to make a spot/listen/sensemotive/whatever check. I would like everyone to make a Sense Motive Check.
