Link yawned slightly as he came back through the gate to Castle City. It was obvious by now that the two of them were in love...though, he still wasn't sure how the princess could love a simple fairy boy from Kokiri like him. But despite that, he went ahead to prepare. If the two loved each other, and had from only meeting each other as ten year old children, why bother waiting. He reached down into his pocket, grasping what he had gone to Death Mountain and the Goron City to get. He was happy with it and was sure Zelda would too. Though, it took him longer than expected...Darian insisted that he go to Kokiri, Zora's Domain, and the Gerudo lands before he returned with it. But after all that...he was ready and wanted to see Zelda again. As soon as he was able. So, with that thought, he just let Epona continue riding, heading towards the castle now.

Zelda wandered the halls now, the anxiety and pressing desire to see Link still at the back of her mind. But more pressing matters were at hand...such as that damned uprising again! Again! Why now of all times?? Dalin, the commaner of her armies, had been sent with a contingent of men to quell, and had not returned as of yet, and that only added to her anxiety. She began to worry whether or not either man would return when a messenger hailed her from down the hall. Running to her and bowing upon approaching, she commanded him to rise and speak. "You Highness, Dalin has returned victorious! The uprising has been quelled!" Zelda's eyes lit up at that. That was good news indeed. "Very well. You are dismissed." There is but one other person I am waiting to hear from... she thought inwardly. She walked briskly to the front doors of the castle where she saw Dalin armored with most of his men entering. He saluted, and bowed his head. His men bowed the knee, and she bade them rise. "My lady Princess, we bear great news! The uprising of the malcontentshas been quelled, and we have had but few losses, regrettably. But thanks be to the Three for this victory. We stand ready to do your will." "It is well. You are dismissed, Dalin. Go and rest for a time, but be ready lest I should..." She noticed someone coming over Dalin's shoulder. Her mouth hung open. "My lady?" he asked, and turned to see what she was looking at. "Well if it isn't the Hero of Time. I guess you ought to go to him, Your Highness." "Gladly!" she exclaimed, and ran, literally, to where Link sat atop Epona, and looked up into his eyes once more, hers bright with excitement... and anticipation. She was indeed happy that he had come back to see her again; this had been her desire for the past several days now. There was nothing in her heart that she wanted more than to see his handsome face. "Come down to me that I may embrace you," she pleaded, wanting to be held by him once more. |

As Link approached, he pulled on Epona's reins, bringing her to a stop. He slowly dismounted from the horse, smiling at the princess. "It already feels as if it has been too long since we last saw each other...I had thought a week would be nothing compared to the first thirteen years," he murmured, chuckling a bit as he walked towards Zelda.

She let herself fall into his arms easily, not caring who saw. He was her man, and she wanted the world to see that. She wrapped her arms around him and held him close. She could hear his heart beating beneath his tunic. There was no better music than that! She did not ever want to part from that sound. Ever. It was too beautiful, too unique, too spellbinding of a sound to ignore! But still, something nagged at the back of her head. Now it came to the forefront. Come on, say it, Link, say it! she thought. |

Link held her gently, bowing his head to her's as she stayed there. After a moment, he started to pull away, putting his arms above her elbows. He was nervous about this next part...but he couldn't fathom why. He knew Zelda was in love with him. So why was he nervous over this? After a moment, he smiled at her, hiding his unease. "Princess..." He paused, changing it so it sounded more familiar, without the formality of titles. "Zelda...I love you...I have since we were kids, when we first met..." He paused again, trying to gather his words. He wasn't always that good at this. But shaking that off, he released her, one hand going to his pocket again. "I know you felt the same way..." he murmured quietly. "Zelda...will you marry me?" He held out the ring he had gotten from the Gorons, crafted by them from gold. It was plain and not that great considering she was a princess...but it didn't matter. Over the sides, it had markings carved into it. Blessings from the different races: the Goron, Sheikah, Zora, Kokiri, Hylian, and Gerudo people. He could have gotten more from the Deku people...but he hadn't wanted to wait for this. So Link held it to her, almost nervously, but forcing that down, waiting anxiously for the princess' answer.

((Things are moving along smoothly. I think I'll post. Just keep going as you guys are. Don't mind me. I'm just setting a few things up. You'll recognize the name "Borinos" from you guys' 1x1 rp portion of this story. Btw, RyuHll, I love your sig! It made me laugh! Guess I'm one of the 10%. *hates myspace anyway*)) In another place, far to the north and east, far across the vast seas, far from civilization and Hyrule, a stirring of power long forgotten to the ages rippled through the annals of time itself, reaching the soul and heart of the lost. Ancient eyes stared across the vastness of the sea, roused and awakened by the bitter, yet familiar scent of betrayal. A great island was set in the center of the sea, far to the north and east of the land of Hyrule itself. Upon that isle was a sizable, vastly dense forest filled with strangely coniferous foliage and grasses, ferns, and wild, tropical flowers of an unfamiliar sort. In the center of said isle was a great mountain range, high and mighty peaks that drove like the teeth of a great saw into the sky. Carved of the most supreme and skilled craft straight from the greatest of the peaks was a vast city--old, cracked, and mostly ruined, though still grand and majestic, even in its state of crumbling. Homesteads, courts, towers, buildings of all sorts had been carved directly out of the mountain face, all surrounded by what was once a mighty wall. Jutting out at what was the very apex of the city was a lone and high tower. Near its top-most point, those ancient eyes of an ancient figure--young, yet ageless; beautiful, yet beyond her years--watched the sea, its unending movements--the ebb and flow of the tide, the constant rolling of the waves. She was the last of her people, a race long dead. Three thousand years.... Queen Elendrei, last queen of a mighty race that once ruled and dotted the world, stood alone in the great tower, and thought back on that night when an ancient power's stirring had roused her from her sleep. She could feel it more than anything. An ancient evil had resurfaced, and it would stop at nothing to destroy. But she had also felt another stirring of a power far greater that night. She knew it deep in her heart. The Triforces...they are nigh their reunion. It had been three thousand years since she had wielded the Triforces of the Goddesses as queen of her people--a people long dead. It had been so long. Yet, when she had felt their stirring, it was as if she had had them all along. That is how the Triforces work. It was so familiar to her. Thus, in answer to that stirring of the power of the Triforces, she had felt his power and life force stir in answer. He was on the loose. He was alive. And he was searching for them. Borinos, the betrayer, is back.

She was not surprised that this would happen, but at the same time, she was delighted with a delight that surpassed all joy and comprehension. Tears of mirth came to her eyes. She couldn't say anything at first...this was just too good! She took the ng gingerly, but instead of slipping it onto her finger right away, she held it up in the air, to the sun so she could see how the light reflected off of it. All present saw the gesture, and bore record. Then she slipped it on her finger, and exclaimed in a voice somewhat choked with joyous emotion, "Link, yes, very much yes, I will marry you. It was yes from the beginning, and you knew it!" Laughing or crying, she didn't know, she threw herself into his arms again, wrapped hers about his neck, and pulled him into a passionate kiss that lasted. This was one of the most glorious days of her life... |

Link's worry and unease lifted as he saw the princess' joy. He took her in his arms and returned the kiss just as passionately, letting her see how happy he was to have her. He held her close to him, knowing that he would never let her go now that he had her.

Zelda released him from the kiss, and held him there for several long moments. She wanted nothing more than to be his, and no one else's. She was his. There was no other she would have acepted. She held him there, not caring who saw. This was their moment, and they needed to cherish it. This would call for a small celebration...between just the two of them. "Dinner tonight, Link...but not at the castle, as nice as the food is. That is my only desire. The rest is up to you. It's on me." She looked up at him, a grin on her face. Little did either of them know that they were getting involved in something that would change their lives forever, and not just because they were getting married... |
