Grid intertwined her fingers, then pushed them away, eliciting several satisfying cracks, then her fingers flew over one of the various keyboards at the console. One of the monitors that was normally dedicated to displaying Matrix coding flickered for a moment, bringing up instead a somewhat blocky, low-framerate video of a temple. One man, in a red kimono, was walking up the steps to its entrance, and she briefly glanced over at a set of reclined chairs where one of the crew lay back. A few more brief keystrokes, and an enemy - one of her creations - appeared inside the simulation. Part of her always found it fascinating what they could do in the programmed realities of the training programs, several of which she had herself created. Despite the precise series of rules for simulating every aspect of physics, they always found a way to bend those rules. In some way, she envied those that could jack in; the ability to learn just about anything nearly instantly, the chance to escape the harsh reality of the real world, even if it was just for a quick sparring session. She shook her head for a moment, then looked back to the screen. This should be interesting... she thought, deciding to just enjoy watching the session. ((sorry my computer is lagging and didn't show your post.)) Jet was kneeling on the frozen ground, he heard a little snap which usually would go unnoticed by a human but he ignored it and turned his attention back to his foe. The man in the white Judo Gi flourished the bamboo club around his head and then ran towards Jet on the snow outside. He attacked Jet, swinging his weapon at his legs and then at his head. Jet saw the attacks coming and jumped up five feet in the air to avoid the first. Then when the attack came for his head Jet swiped the blow away, twisted his torso away from the man, and delivered a swift side kick to his ribs. The man flew backyard several meters and landed hard on the white ground. Suddenly Jet could hear more snaps in his ear and turned to his surroundings again. What the hell is that? Now the snapping was growing louder and Jet could see that the ground below him was really ice, and it was cracking fast! Oh shit, shit! Jet began to run back towards the temple, the man was starting to get up but Jet didn't care. he was twelve meters away from the doors, the ice was being ripped apart. Out of nowhere, something hit Jet in the back of the head very hard and he was sent sprawling on the raw ice.

The rugged surface tore at Jet's hands making them raw and red. Jet jumped to his feet with a walloping pain in the back of his head.Holy crap, that hurt like hell. Jet's vision was obscured and he felt dizzy. Come on, come on, come on you can get out of this. He steadied himself and his vision cleared, the thing he saw wasn't exactly on his list of things to see however. The temple steps were not far away, but him and where he wanted to go was separated by deep blue below freezing water, Jet doubted that he could land in that without the risk of his operator pulling him out. It seemed that the two were isolated on a little island of ice, with no way off. One of them would have to the dust, or ice.Jet spoke as almost to himself, he was impressed."Exactly how long did it take you to program this guy Grid? He's almost as good as I am." Jet smiled at his own comment. He brought himself back to his usual fighting stance that he used for constructs, then he placed his right foot under the baton and flung it into the icy water. Now this is how to fight. Both of the men ran towards the other, Jet could noticed that he was running slightly faster than the other without really meaning to,Yes! I can focus now. The two met, Jet threw a shot at his enemies kidneys and brought his arms back up so he could block. The program took the punches, and then spinned around after a solid punch to Jet's face, and side-kicked the human. Jet was wise to it though, and quickly ducked under the attack as it passed over him.

A small smile formed on Grid's lips as the ice began to crack under Jet's feet. Just another small surprise she'd decided to add to the mix. "Oh... thats gonna hurt..." she muttered as the bamboo bat cracked against the back of Jet's head, and she winced slightly in sympathy. Still, the program was performing well; Jet would now be forced to fight his enemy on the slippery, unstable ice arena that had formed. "This is what you guys get for complaining that the other simulations weren't much of a challenge anymore..." she said, again to herself, with a mild smile. Talking to herself was a habit - perhaps a bad one, depending on who she asked - that she had picked up while spending hours staring at green code falling down screens and monitoring the crew's vitals, praying that she'd soon get the call to find them a hardline to exit the Matrix. Her fingers flew over keys again, and a second monitor stopped showing the Matrix code, instead bringing up a file that she had been working on for several weeks now in her spare time. When she was done, it would be a sparring partner for the crew that she could partially control through commands, hopefully helping her to make the training less predictable, and give her a bit more of an active role in it. She skimmed the last few lines of code that she'd written and started to type, glancing often to the fight in progress to see how Jet was doing. |

After crouch-dodging the program's kick, a thought entered in Jet's mind. Let's see if this works. Jet stayed crouched, his muscles tensed until his foe's kicking foot was back on the ground. Jet's eyes followed it, then the virtual foot touched down to the snow covered ice and Jet sprang((is that the right tense?)) Into his enemy grabbing his torso and knocking him off his feet. Jet was hanging on as the odd pair continued to sail through the air, the program must have been knocked out since it did not attack his exposed back. They were ten feet above the edge of the ice now, and Jet decided it was time to end the simulation. He slightly eased his hold , and brought his feet to chest level. He let go of his captive, and the two hovered in the snowy air for a few seconds. Then, with a burst of speed, jet extended his knees and send immense force into his enemies chest. The program went down spinning into the almost frozen water, and as a giant splash erupted, Jet fell to the Ice, landing with his feet spread evely and his hands barely touching the surface. A sudden shift of motion and Jet found himself back on the ice. Hehe, just an epic end and then I slip, hope Grid didn't see that, though of course she did. Jet laughed out loud,"that was intentional Grid! Will you get me out of here now?"

Grid had just glanced back to the simulation monitor as the fight really started to pick up, and she nodded as Jet dispatched the enemy. And then slipped. She swivelled in her chair and moved back to the keyboard connected to the simulation to shut it down. Seconds later, the ice, water, and temple all vanished, replaced with a vast, white plane. Moments after that, she shut the construct down entirely, bringing Jet back out, then walked over to where he was to take the jack out of the back of his head. "Nice job... especially that last bit," she said, smirking slightly, "Little better than the old programs?"

Jet got back to his feet and brushed some his Kimono off. Abruptly, the space around him dissipated, sucked away. His eyes flickered and then he was plunged back into the real world. There was little light in the jacking room, and it took a number of seconds for jet's eyes to adjust to the lighting. He could feel the needle that sent his mind into the construct leaving his cranium. He look up with his green eyes and saw that Grid was staring over him. She was very beautiful, in the Matrix when Jet was still a Blue Pill he had always had a thing for asian chicks, they were like an instant turn on. But Grid was different and although he was attracted to her it was different...he honesty didn't know how but it was. "Yeah, way better, that guy actually gave me a challenge." He smirked as he got up out of the ripped leather barber chair."well, almost. But that was definitely an improvement Grid, good work. Jet stretched himself out, he always got stiff after being jacked in. "Where's the rest of the crew? I thought they would be jacked into another construct program."

"Glad to hear it... wait until you see my next project... It'll be a while before its done though," Grid smiled, shutting down the vital monitoring system on the chair to conserve power. "I think everyone else is resting up for the next mission. Most of them did a little extra training yesterday. How's the back of your head, by the way?" she asked, the question coming out a little awkwardly. She still found it strange that injuries in the Matrix, or the construct for that matter, affected people in the real world - especially when people bled. "Such is the power of the mind..." she'd been told once when she mentioned it. |

"Hmmm, can't wait to test it out.Right now I'm starving babe."oops, that slipped out, hope she doesn't mind. Jet started walking out of the room and said as he turned right through the corrugated steel hallway towards the kitchen.I'm hungry for some slop. He chuckled, slop was all they had and probably all they ever would with it being that there was no organic life on the surface. What would it be like, to have a dog? A real dog? Jet did have a real dog when he was still Jake Bronson. It was a great dog, a black lab that would lean on you until your knees cracked, and that would fetch everything you threw for it to get. Maybe it was too good. It was too good to be true that's for sure. Jet took a final right turn and he was in the kitchen. It was slightly better lighted than the rest of the ship and the slop dispensers had been refilled just about an hour ago, so there was plenty of the goopy mess. Next to the dispensers were an assortment of rough and beaten tin bowls and and spoons. Jet reached across the short, small table where they were and grabbed a bowl and a spoon. He then placed the bowl under the dispenser and pulled down the release switch. A thick, oozing liquid moosh came out at a steady pace and filled his bowl half way, then Jet pushed the switch back up and the ooze held. He turned behind him to the eating table, reminiscent of a highschool's lunchroom table, and sat down. He began to eat and this batch actually didn't taste half bad. __________________
