(Sorry it took so long for my reply Wednesdays are kinda bad for me)

“We used to get along, back when we were children,” Voltain said as he picked up the bread and took a bite out of it and then placed it back on the plate “but then he stole someone very important to me and everything went downhill from there. I’m not sure if I really want to go back asleep though.”

Voltain laughed slightly before going on.

“You could probably tell I wasn’t having the most pleasant of dreams,” he said throwing the sheets off of him and swept his legs out and rested his feet on the floor “I always look forward to a nice warm bed, but no matter what, anytime I fall asleep I’m plagued by the same dreams not matter what.”

Voltain began felling more at ease with himself in the room and turned around and looked at the moon through the window with his one good eye. “I’m a loner too,” he said still starring at the moon “never could stay in one place to long and I enjoy the pleasantness of the world around me.”

[That's alright. I know how it goes.]

Julianne brushed her bangs back from her dark eyes, soft hair falling over her shoulders as she looked down at her book. Her body turned just a little and dropped the book onto the bed beside her, then her right hand rested against the sheets and leaned her weight upon it. Her head cocked to the side just a little as she listened to him speaking. "Yes, yes... I could see that. I am sorry you have such, uh...horrible dreams. I know unpleasant nightmares aren't exactly the most amazing thing during the time you're trying to sleep and find rest." Her voice paused before continuing thoughtfully. "Or when you pass out from pain and you definitely need rest. I understand not wanting to sleep because of nightmares."

Julianne truly understood that he did not want to go back to sleep, but it was better for the wound across his eye if he did such. Sighing softly, she stood up and slipped around the bed before coming to rest at his side. Her hands motioned for him to hold still, and gently she brought her hands up to turn his face towards his to examine the threading. "The pleasantness of the world, huh? I think you need to get out more. There isn't very much of anything left in this world that is pleasant. And I think being a loner fits, it works as a life style. The only person you have to worry about is yourself." Yet, even as Julianne spoke of that in a soft voice, since he was sitting right there, as she examined his wound, she did not sound the least bit happy about it. "So where are you headed?"

(OMG, I saw the name and thought "Hey, that's the last episode of Trigun, what a weird coincedence." Is there still room for me to join?)

(Yeah you can join)

“Perhaps pleasantness was the wrong word to use,” he said after her remark that he needs to get out more “But more of the beauty that is still left in this world that I’m able to see while traveling.” He untied the knot of his cloak and tossed it to the ground revealing a small pack he had. He swung it around to his front and pulled out a small leather journal like object and handed it to her.

“Those are some of my sketches I’ve done in the past,” he said as she began thumbing through the pages. The sketches were of small lakes in the woods, or of waterfalls buried deep within the never traveled paths for the forest. “And I suppose your right about the loner part, but do not forget that there is still light in darkness.”

And as for her question to be honest he wasn’t quite sure where he was heading off to. It was really just where ever the path took him. He actually never had a clear idea of what he was going to do next; he just let his fate play its course in a way. He did know that he was planning on heading west towards the coast that much he knew but nothing of what cities he was going to stop in.

“I suppose my answer to your question is that I’m planning on heading west toward the coast,” he said in soft tone “As for a final destination I’m heading too, I don’t know. I’m just heading west.” He laughed at the end for slightly speaking in circles and then slowly stood up and began walking around the room to get his legs some much need exercise. “It’s remarkable how bright the moon is tonight,” he finally said as he stopped in front of the window.

She pulled back a bit as he opened his bag, and Julianne made a move to get off the bed but she saw that it was just a small book-like kind of object, made of leather. Or at least the cover was. Exhaling slowly, she took the book and unfolded it so she could peek at it's contents. Sketches, numerous of them. Waterfalls, lakes. Roads less traveled. A small smile etched itself upon her lips as she gazed at them. "You are wonderful at sketching. You could make some money off of these." Julianne commented.

As he moved up off of the bed and began to walk around the room, she continued gazing through his leather sketch booklet. She loved these drawings, he truly did have a talent at it. He spoke of traveling west, heading toward the coast. Julianne could only nod her head and slowly close his booklet. "Heading west, hm?" Her words paused as he mentioned the moon. Gently raising up onto her feet, she rested his sketch book on the bed and came over to where he was standing. Her boots were soft against the floor as she moved, finally coming to rest at his side in front of the window.

Dark brown eyes gazed out into the darkness before searching the sky for the moon. It was not hard to find at all, and it only took her a second or two to find it. It truly was bright, and big. A small smile fluttered across her lips. "Yes, it is remarkable how bright the moon is tonight. It is very beautiful." Her head nodded forward a little, glancing to him out of the corners of her eyes before turning away from the window. "When do you plan on heading out?" Julianne asked, just trying to make conversation. Those awkward silences always made her uncomfortable.

“These drawings of mine are rather…personal,” Voltain said trying to find the right word at the end “I’m not sure if I could bring myself to sell something of such importance to me.”

Voltain carefully thought about the words he just said.

Damn now she is going to think I’m crazy, I mean seriously I should sell them and make a few coins off them for a change,He thought “It’s not like I can’t make more of these sketches, she’s right maybe I’ll try and sell them.”

Voltain still starred out the window trying to think of when he was going to leave, since this cut above his eye was rather bad he’s been told, he began contemplating staying a few days and letting the wound heal up a bit more.

“I guess because of the gash I’ll be staying a few more days then I was intending,” he said calmly but his eyes were drawn to a sudden figure rushing down the cobblestone street and ran into a dark alley.

“Did you just see that?” Voltain asked as he walked over the where his katana was fastened it across his shoulder “Looked like a person ran into the alley across the road.”

Voltain immediately opened the door when he was finished and quickly walked down the stairs and went out the tavern door causing quite a commotion because many were wondering why a severely injured man was leaving the tavern so soon. Voltain made his way across the street and into the dark alley, he wasn’t sure if Julianne was following him, or just watching from the room’s window. He slowly unsheathed his katana from his back and raised it up in a prepared stance as he walked through the alley. The moon was shining just enough so he could use the katana to look behind him using the reflection in the blade.

“Where are you,” Voltain said softly.

Julianne's head nodded forward a little, causing some of her soft brown hair to spill forth from over her shoulders and to rest against her chest. Dark brown eyes moved over to Voltain's little journal-like booklet and eyed it. In a way, it was like a journal. What was on his mind went into those sketches, really. But she understood his words about explaining that the drawings were personal. "I understand, Voltain. I was just suggesting, not trying to make you do something that you did not want to do.

In all honesty, Julianne did not think that Voltain was cazy. In fact she found that he was the opposite, actually a sane person. It was a long time before she had met someone like that. People were so wrapped up in everything else, they did not act normal or even friendly. Yet here he was in front of her, showing no harm towards her or anyone else in the buildings around them.

Suddenly, the next thing she knew he was speaking about someone in a dark alley and he was flying out the door with his sword fastened across his shoulder. "Vol-" Julianne tried, but he was already bounding down the steps by the time she reached the doorway. A heavy sigh came from her lips before taking off after him. He had a gash across one of his eyes, he did not need to go off on some adventure to see who some person was in a dark alley. She was behind him, a couple yards back, not that she knew, and was walking as quietly as she could. Even with the light of the moon, it was hard to see because of the shadows cast by the buildings. "Voltain?" Julianne whispered, listening to see if he was around her.

Voltain heard his name called from the darkness behind him by Julianne’s voice. He wished she wouldn’t have done that cause if someone was here he was now at a great disadvantage.

“I’m here towards the end,” he said softly in reply to her “But try to be extremely quite, someone is watching.” Voltain eyed the blade of his katana as he tilted it towards the rooftops, all he could see the dark sky above him, even of someone was up there it would almost be impossible for him to see. Voltain knew that even though he couldn’t see anyone someone was watching him as he walked calmly down the dark alley.

Someone was watching him from the rooftop of the alley, clothed in blanked armor and a cloak with an insignia on the back of it. The insignia was the same design Voltain had seen on one of the trees back at the slaughter in the forest.

“You think your safe don’t you Voltain,” the figure said in a low raspy voice “Too bad your brother wants you dead, otherwise we could have had some use for someone like you.”

The figure stood straight up and looked down at Voltain who was right below him, true he might have compromised his position by doing this, but he didn’t care. Once he killed Voltain he knew the girl would be no problem. He slowly reached to the grips on his belt and drew out his punching daggers. He took a deep breath in; he wanted to end Voltain’s life as quickly as possible.

Julianne tenses slightly as she heard someone speaking to her. It was actually rather close ahead of her just a little ways. It was Voltain, and he told her his location. Giving a little nod to herself, she managed to find him only by bumping into him just a little. She would have apologized, really she would have, but he had told her to be extremely quiet because someone was watching them. Inhaling slowly, she followed closely behind him, but not too close incase that he needed to whip his blade around. Julianne did not want to get caught by his blade. Then again, neither of them should have been out there. He was injured, and she had taken the liberty to take care of him.

The instant a raspy voice sounded, her eyes snapped upwards to where the figure was located. His instinct held true, Julianne knew about the position he was in since he had spoken. Well, since she had no weapons to defend herself on her, she stepped backwards until she was up against one of the buildings in the dark alley. She had two options, really. Perhaps even three. One, she could run to get help, two she could stay there, or three...she could try to protect Voltain since he was still injured. Three was not going to happen since she couldn't even see and had no weapons. In the end, she decided to stay, to try to help if she was needed.

Voltain noticed Julianne slowly backed up against the alley wall, he knew she spotted something and he knew he was in trouble.

“Tonight you die Voltain Rostov!” the figure shouted jumping down from the rooftop with his fist aiming down ready to impale Voltain. Voltain’s reflexes though proved to still be up to the task; as soon as he heard the figure speak he immediately rolled out of the way.

“Julianne stay back!” Voltain shouted as he regained his footing quickly and starred straight into the eyes of his attacker.

“Ah Voltain I see you still have your speed on your side,” the figure said rising to his feet “Too bad your no match for my skill. Prepare to die my old comrade.”

“Mikhail the Hard-Puncher,” Voltain said sliding his left foot back and got into his prepared stance “So you’re the one my brother sent to finish what he started.”

Mikhail charged at Voltain punching wildly trying to catch Voltain off guard, but Voltain kept evading, ducking, and weaving to avoid every punch thrown at him. Mikhail finally swung his leg around in an arc low to the ground and swept Voltain off his feet. Voltain was on his back starring straight up at Mikhail, who had jumped into the air and was on his descent to crush Voltain’s skull into the cobblestone alley. Voltain through had managed to roll out of the way just in the last second before having a Mikhail’s punching dagger plunged right between his eyes. Mikhail tried to remove his weapon from the ground but it was no use, it was stuck too deep in the alley, he swung his arm wildly at Voltain knowing that he would die he might as well try and get one hit in. Voltain had different plans though; he parried one of Mikhail’s swings and then slid his blade across Mikhail’s right arm causing him to lose his grip.

“You damn bastard!” Mikhail shouted as blood began to flow out in a steady flow, more pain was caused when Voltain broke Mikhail left elbow with his foot. Mikhail began to slowly rise to his feet only to be taken off them as Voltain slammed the handle of his sword into Mikhail’s sternum, causing him to fall to the ground grasping for air.

All Mikhail could do was look up at the man who hated fighting and wondered how a pathetic human like him could have won.

“Your problem is that you take too much pride in your abilities my old friend,” Voltain said cleaning his blade off and sheathed it “Also you shouldn’t have spoken at all, or tried to jump on top of me and kill me when I was on the ground.”

“Just kill me already you pathetic bastard,” Mikhail said rising to his knees.

“Sorry but I don’t take requests,” Voltain said rather playfully turning his back to him and began walking away “Besides you need to go back to my brother and tell him I’m working my way towards him. Julianne you can stop hiding now.”

With that Voltain left the alley and slowly walked back to the tavern with Julianne following closely behind him.
