“How do you think Merion's training is going?”

Halt was still surprised at Adriana's actions...resting her head against his shoulder. Something he thought would never happen again after Vanya. He loved the feeling...Adriana's hair smelt of wildflowers... bringing a soothing comfort to him, his pain in his side slowly ebbing away.

He noticed Draken's eye peering in, and then suddenly Adriana suddenly popped up, his arm falling. He didn't want that he wanted to continue to be her "Pillow" Though he didn't hear the conversation between her and Draken.

He sighed and closed his eyes. "Merions got potential... His sudden change has made him even stronger than before...that will help against Vanthm... I'm sure his ability with a sword has gone through the roof... Though his bow skills are still lacking...yet could be even better than mine.... over all, his training is taking leaps and bounds... and I don't know what to do with it."

He placed a hand on his wound and leaned back against the chair.

Merion nodded to Halt and Draken as they both suggested he trained his mind in the magical arts. He felt drained for some reason, like another being was taking his energy almost. He let out a faint sigh, leaning against the house. He slid down and his butt tapped the ground slightly, his left leg pulled up slightly, pointing to the left slightly.

He sat there, staring at one of Brisingr's claws, his blinking becoming slower and slower until he didn't open his eyes anymore. For the past three days, Merion hadn't gotten legitimate sleep. With all of the thoughts running through his head, he just couldn't do it without being beyond tired in the morning.

Brisingr hadn't been paying much attention to Merion, just watching Draken slightly as his head looked in the house. Merions head slumped forward, making Brisingr's head jerk downward. *You... Oh.* He thought to Merion, though he didn't get a response aside from a light snore coming from his mouth. His energy had been drained over and over again, he legally shouldn't have been able to move at least 6 hours ago.

For once, Merions head was completely free of worry and fear. For once, he didn't really have to have Vanthm in the back of his head, and for once... he could rest peacefully... at least he hopped he could.

Adriana kept a weary eye on the window that Draken had been peeking in through, but still kept her full attention on what Halt was saying to her. They were both experienced and well-trained Riders, but he was still older than her...and therefore he had more wisdom. She always took what he was saying in, and tried to apply any knowledge he gave her to life.

“I just hope he doesn't get overwhelmed. It wont always be us against just Vanthm...it will be the Ra'zac and other trained warriors that he has specifically prepared to kill us. It could get messy...he needs to know that it is important to go on even if one of us dies. Or...to just take one fight at a time and not get swallowed by the whole army we will be facing. By the way, where is our tall apprentice?” Adriana gave a little yawn, and leaned her head backwards onto the couch cushion. She hoped that she was making sense, and not coming off as if she was just tiredly babbling.

Usually, when speaking of Vanthm, her heart rate sped up as she got angrier. Now that she was with Halt, and keeping it in mind that she was amongst friends, it was easier for her to keep calm. It was important that the speed of the poison was slowed, so that she could stay sane for the battle against Vanthm. The others, besides herself and Draken of course, seemed to have forgotten about her poison downfall...so she decided to allow it to be forgotten. Just so that they wouldn't worry.

“How are you feeling? Can I get you anything?” She, however, refused to forget about anyone else's wounds. Having Halt fighting at her side was very important, and if he wasn't well...Klassh wouldn't be completely well either.

How are you feeling? Can i get you anything? Draken was mocking her now, his voice getting a bit high pitched as he tried to match her own voice. Adriana smiled a little, knowing exactly what Draken was thinking. He thought she was falling for Halt...and, well, she wasn't going to tell him he was completely wrong.

~V~

“My Lord, I take full responsibility for his actions, if it wasn’t for my own inexperience and lack of self-control he wouldn’t have such a blatant lack of self-control.” Mutt tilted his head down, while Eclipse kept his head as close to the ground as possible while Lord Vanthm’s gaze washed over him. “But Lord Vanthm, please do not underestimate how strong we can become under you guidance. As of now my dragon is, yes the smallest dragon, but he is also the most agile and most maneuverable. I have no doubt in my mind that he could defeat your dragon at a race"

Vanthm continued to stare at the dragon, even when Mutt made the comment that his dragon could probably beat his dragon at a race. Already he was getting tired of his new 'apprentice' and he was very tempted to just rip out his throat there for the disrespect towards Lagian.

Just looking at the little fly he could tell that the dragon was weak. He was tiny, and he would probably be slowed down by the weight of his Rider. A dragon with a wing span of seven feet could not possibly hold a Rider and be fully functional. He was still most likely too young to even be rode full-time.

((Sorry to say this, but the dragons in Eragon had a much longer wing span of 7 feet before they could carry their Rider, I think. I remember it being a long time before Eragon could ride his Dragon. Lets keep this all realistic.))

“Well, I have a huge doubt in my mind that your dragon could beat mine. And...I have to say, that I dont appreciate the disrespect...and neither does Lagian.” Vanthm glanced at his best friend, and Dragon, and smirked when Lagian growled. “I am not the only master here, but he is going to be responsible for some of your training as well. I can tell you right now that your dragon isnt strong enough to last a moment against Klassh and Draken.” The dark lord even surprised himself when he used the enemy Dragons' names. “And...dont underestimate how much I can see into your weak little mind without you knowing it. I will have to teach you how to block your thoughts properly...”

((Just letting you guys know that Vanthm is just a character that I am playing to the fullest possible Evil. Lol. I'm not trying to out-do your character Raze, but...Vanthm and his Dragon ARE almost all-powerful. I can see how Mutt can become great, but it wouldn't be good to just start him out that way.))

Vanthm had met his match with the rebel Riders Halt and Adriana, and he didn't like he. He also was annoyed that Mutt, practically a youngling, was considering himself already better than Vanthm and his dragon. The dark lord almost felt as if it wasn't even worth giving Mutt and his Dragon a severe beating for their disrespect and egotistic mannerisms. They were so clearly not ready for anything that the rebel's could throw at them.

While he had been speaking to Mutt, and anger in his voice had risen. A static had filled the air, and the clouds had rolled in to cover the castle. Vanthm had been trained, and had trained himself greatly in the field of magic. His emotions now affected the weather at times, and his energy stamina was greater than most. He didn't tire easily when using magic.

Eclipse’s mind went quite with, his dragons voice abruptly quieting to an awkward silence, but for good reason on the account that Lord Vanthm had just revealed that he had heard everything that his dragon had been mumbling about for the past minute or so. Though Mutt himself wasn’t in any better of a position, his last comment that he had made to try and justify his dragon size wasn’t in anyway the appropriate thing to say to a dragon rider who had killed more dragon and dragon riders than anyone. The weather had become dreary and cold, clouds blotting out the once clear blue sky. It also felt charged, no doubt a manifestation of Vanthm’s feelings toward him and his dragon as of now. Mutt thought silently to himself reflecting carefully on the words he was choosing. After several seconds, he picked the link back up with his dragon. Slowly he got back of his dragon and then lowered himself to his knees down on his knees, his face continuing down until it was nearly touching the dirt, his dragon following suit bring its head down to the dirt as well as his keeping his eyes focused on the tiny pebbles embedded in the ground, rather than look into the eyes of what very well could be his death.
“Please forgive us Lord Vanthm, We know nothing.” Mutt knew he would either die here, with his face on the ground or he would be allowed to rise again; a gesture of mercy by Lord Vanthm, one that he would not waste. Eclipse also knew that this was not a time to be head strong or prideful, he was now keeping his mind silent, and applying the rule he now consider his personal golden rule. “Never speak unless spoken to

Halt was silent as she spoke, his eyes cast down towards the floor, listening to her. When she said "...If one of us dies." She may have been referring to both her and himself, but he immediately though that she was referring to herself, and the poison that was within her. 'I wish she didn't speak like that.' he thought to himself.

When she then asked where Merion was, he quietly said, "He should be at my old home...studying up on the ancient language."

She then asked if he needed anything... he didn't really... he was comfortable for the moment. But what she said earlier jumped back into his mind. "Yea...there is one thing...."

He turned his head to look into her eyes... "Just... promise me that you will never think 'IF we die' We wont die... I wont let you, or Merion. We are going to live long after we 'should' have died..." after watching her eyes for a few minutes longer he finally looked away and towards the ground.

((Okay, I'm a wee-bit confused. Arent they all at Halt's home, where Draken took a chunk out of the wall? You said that Halt had been at his old house, but then he flew up on Klassh to the house that Draken smashed. I thought Merion was right outside with Draken and Klassh, sleeping against the house?))

"He should be at my old home...studying up on the ancient language."

Adriana nodded, and smiled a little. The ancient language was the key to all of the magic in the world. In many situations the ancient language had saved her life, and helped her in fighting off her enemies. The ancient language, however, never chose sides. Magic works for both good and evil.

"Yea...there is one thing...."

She perked up a bit, surprised that he agreed to let her help him. He didn't seem like the kind of person to really accept help, unless he was forced to. With bright green eyes curiously set upon his face, and her body turned towards him in alert...she waited for him to speak his request.

"Just... promise me that you will never think 'IF we die' We wont die... I wont let you, or Merion. We are going to live long after we 'should' have died..."

Adriana first looked at him sternly, but then she sighed and dropped her gaze with a smile. His words gave her hope, and she could sense that he really meant what he said. About keeping all of them alive until after they 'should' have died. “I promise...” Taking in a long breath, she then continued. “I can feel that we will make it. Even though...we are trying to fight someone that is practically invincible.”

She didn't want to tell him, but...she was almost too afraid to sleep alone. She didn't want to lay in the darkness, alone, and close her eyes to the world around her to sleep. Adriana felt as if he could 'get' her better if she were sleeping. She had to sleep, though, since she was physically and mentally exhausted from keeping a strong mental barrier up constantly. Of course, as a most Dragon Riders, she was too stubborn to admit her own fears.

~V~

Every moment of his waking was dedicated to trying to penetrate the mind of the Rider, and once prisoner, Adriana. He had succeeded in poisoning her, having manipulated one of her close friends until he agreed to stab...but not kill her. Now, he was going to use that stream of poison in her body to try and place himself inside her mind...to weaken her, and perhaps manipulate her as well.

While working on his first plan, to get into the mind of Adiana (the second strongest Rider in his mind), he was forming a second plan. Which, was to train his own Rider in defense of the rebels training their third Rider, Merion. He had planned that his apprentice would be both attentive and obedient, but here he was...staring down at Mutt and Eclipse with thoughts of murdering them both on the spot.

“Please forgive us Lord Vanthm, We know nothing.”

Dont kill them. I can see that look on your face...but remember that he will become greater. He will have that drive for blood in him that the others never will have. This time, it was Lagian saving Mutt and Eclipse. Trying to talk his Rider out of striking them both down.

“You are damn straight when you say that you 'know nothing'.”
Vanthm chimed, and he could feel Lagian mentally sigh with relief. He wasn't going to kill them. “Now, today is more of a...orientation to what you will be learning. So, leave your dragon with Lagian...and lets go inside for food.” The dark lord seemed more chipper than before. He had put himself into a better mood, and now he was in the mood to eat.

Mutt and his dragon both let out an almost audible sigh of relief. Eclipse dipped his head again to Vanthm and Lagian, before moving to Lagains side. Mutt stood up, not bothering to dust himself off. He was a little confused as to why they were going to eat, but even more confused as to how the Dark Lord switched his mood back and forth with such ease. ~Bye Eclipse~, ~See Ya~ was the return he got back from Eclipse indicating that he was already regaining his usual temperament. Mutt waited for the Lord Vanthm to lead the way, knowing it was in his best interest just to follow, listen, and learn.

(Old home as in his home when he was an apprentice. He lives in his Mentor's home now. The old home is like Eragon's.... in the trees inside the woods. )

He closed his eyes and smiled when she promised to do so. “I can feel that we will make it. Even though...we are trying to fight someone that is practically invincible.”

Halt shook his head. "He's not Invincible... He is careless... I wounded him during the battle. Even Dragons can be killed by non Dragon riders... So Even Vanthm can be killed by another Dragon rider... we just need to be careful..."

He groaned as he sat up next to Adriana...the day was coming to an end. He smiled slightly at his situation and said softly..."Even though this is going to sound wrong..." He looked to her..." Could you help me to the bed?"

Hopefully she wouldn't take it as a line a drunk would use to get someone to bed with them...

(Ugggh sorry for crappiness)

"He's not Invincible... He is careless... I wounded him during the battle. Even Dragons can be killed by non Dragon riders... So Even Vanthm can be killed by another Dragon rider... we just need to be careful..."

Adriana broke into a little smile when he mentioned wounding Vanthm. Why hadnt they told her this before? It felt good to know that Vanthm had taken a little beating. It meant that he probably would no longer underestimate them, but it also meant that they were strong enough to perhaps defeat him.

"Even though this is going to sound wrong..." He looked to her..." Could you help me to the bed?"

“Of course,” She laughed some, and stood up slowly from the couch. Draken was still peeking in through the window, but she ignored him. Reaching down she took Halt's hands softly, and pulled back just enough so that it wouldnt hurt him too badly to stand. Then, once he was up, she slid her arm around his waist and started to help him manuever through the house to his room. “Dont stress out about Kalib and Ki...They will probably sleep away tonight but we can try again tomorrow. Maybe he will see the error of his...ways.”

Adriana was just trying to take all the stress away. She knew that if Halt was stressed, that she would be stressed as well. Which meant bad news for her when it came to the poison in her body. “Tomorrow we will continue training with Merion...and try to talk Kalib into agreeing to fight and protect his dragon.” Adriana paused as she opened the door to his bedroom, and then let go of him so that he could sit on the bed. “And...I'm afraid I may have gotten rusty with the sword...so I may have you give me a little mini-lesson with Merion.” At least she wasnt afraid to admit her flaws, and she was willing to work on them.

~V~

Vanthm began to walk back towards the castle, his long trench-like coat swaying in the wind that had been created when he lost his temper. “To be honest...I'm not exactly sure as to how to attack the rebel Riders. They have been thoroughly trained...and they can take almost any siutation thrown at them. A full on army coming at them would just give them too much time and space to run. Assassinating them one at a time may be our best bet on ridding them...” Vanthm was glad to have someone to speak about his plans with, other than Lagian of course.

Once inside the castle he turned down an almost untraveled corridor, and opened a wide and tall door. The dining room was brighter than any other in the castle. The walls were lined with maids, all of them wearing blood-stained aprons. Each servant was holding a tray that held uncooked foods and dripping body parts.

“I need a nice juicy thigh.”
A timid maid stepped forwards, and placed her silver platter on the dining room table right in front of a throne-like chair. “Whats your choice?” He inquired, looking from the dripping meat to Mutt's face. On closer inspection...yes, the meat was raw...and it wasnt animal, but human. Vanthm was a cannibal. Dropping himself into his designated chair, Vanthm motioned to another maid...who approached with a pitcher and poured a milky red substance into his silver goblet. “So, do you have any additional ideas as to...how to rid the world of these annoying little rebel Riders?"
