“No, I agree that we should get rid of the elders first. However…that won’t be our first attack. We need to send smaller, less risky attacks. And as for your training…we can start today if you wish. Most of your studies, however, will be in the library…where you will learn and memorize spells.”
“I under stand lord Vanthm, it make sense not to attach with full force, without at least getting an idea of how much the enemy strength has increased. Maybe a small raid on a near by town to draw them out, unless you know where they are of course." Pushing his empty platter away, he wiped his claws on his pants, and waited for Lord Vanthm’s answer. The enemy had no doubt gotten stronger, and now that Vanthm pointed out that we needed to send smaller less risky attacks, it seemed foolish to even think about taking out the riders without a decent idea of their strength and weakness. “Lord Vanthm, would it be possible to have an imposter appearing as you attack the riders, maybe an elaborate illusion of sorts.” All this talk of killing coupled with eating raw human meat was giving him a strong blood lust. He felt like ripping someone head off for no reason except that he could, his eyes wondered around the room eyeing the maids with a look that could only be described as euphoric. Tearing his gaze away from the frightened girls, he turned back to lord Vanthm’s, a lazy smile across his face. “Also I would like to begin training today, since I know nothing of battle against dragon riders. Will you be supervising my studies in the library?” |

Halt slowly laid down as Adriana laid down next to him. She made sure that nothing of her touched him, as if she thought he couldn't stand her touch. He frowned as he blew out the candle in the room.
He looked over to where he could faintly see Adriana's shape in the dark. it was so close, yet at the same time, so far away. He raised his hand to his face, he only saw the outline of it. His thoughts becoming fast uncontrolable... He just, wanted to be close to someone again... it gave him strength, hope, and comfort. With out thinking, his hand lowered to his side, hesitently touching Adriana's hand, but after a breif moment, rested his fingers against hers. His mind closed to all but hers, he didn't want Klassh to sense what he was doing.

Adriana was watching the ceiling, and she blinked a few times after the candle went out to allow her eyes to adjust to the new lighting. The room was almost completely black, since the moon was almost completely covered with clouds. She could hear the dragons stirring and breathing outside. Surprisingly, Ki and Kalib were no longer crossing her mind. The only thing on her mind, actually, was Halt.
Just as her eyes were closing, she felt something touch her hand. Without thinking she jerked her hand away from Halt, but then she immediately regretted the action. It had been so long since she had touched or been touched by another person, other than through battle of course. She had no problems with being close to the dragons, or even animals…but Vanthm always popped up in her mind when she had any physical contact with another person. Whats wrong? Draken had seen every thought that had sped through her mind after Halt had touched her hand. Nothing, good night. And with that said to her Dragon, she blocked Draken completely out of her mind for the first time in a very, very long time. Adriana then fought against past thoughts of Vanthm, and turned over onto her side; facing Halt. She scooted closer until her head was resting upon his shoulder, and reached across his body so that her arm was resting across his stomach. She was careful to not touch any of his wounds. With a heavy sigh she smiled, snuggling her cheek into his shoulder gently. It felt good to be close to someone. Adriana wasn’t even thinking about whether Halt was comfortable with her being so close or not. (Raze, I’ll post for you soon! )

((Sorry for blah, and I am gone for another week...))
Halt was surprised at how quickly Adriana wrapped her arm around him and placed her cheek on his shoulder... he figured she would only return with gripping his hand... not that he didn't mind. His head became dizzy as he took a breath of her at such a close proximity. He slid his right arm under her neck and wrapped around her back, with his hand on her waist. He didn't say anything, but he held her close to him. His left hand resting on her arm that was draped over his stomach, and his cheek, rested against her forehead. Halt still said nothing, but his mind began to grow dull as he slowly slipped into a true peaceful sleep...one that had eluded his grasp for many years.

“I under stand lord Vanthm, it make sense not to attach with full force, without at least getting an idea of how much the enemy strength has increased. Maybe a small raid on a near by town to draw them out, unless you know where they are of course."
Vanthm chuckled, and shifted around in his seat. He had just finished wiping blood from his face, and now he was staring aimlessly at his stained plate as he thought to himself. He knew that Adriana had gotten stabbed with the poisonous knife, which meant that she was exactly where he had predicted her to be. Du WeldenVarden (I believe that’s how you spell it, look at the map I provided at the beginning of the thread for directions) “I have a good idea where they are.” “Lord Vanthm, would it be possible to have an imposter appearing as you attack the riders, maybe an elaborate illusion of sorts.” “I will have to think about the specifics on our attack. An illusion would be tricky…but interesting.” Vanthm loved to mess with his victims, and Mutt was filled with interesting ideas. “I’m not even sure if I want to go for the elders first…maybe the young one will be good to start with.” He glanced at Mutt, who had just turned his attention away from a shuddering maid. “Also I would like to begin training today, since I know nothing of battle against dragon riders. Will you be supervising my studies in the library?” The lord sat back in his chair, putting his fingers together calmly and arched them. “I will be there often to lead you in the right direction but…” He smirked to himself, thinking of all the glorious moments he would have invading Adriana’s mind through his magical poison. “I have other things to do concerning the Riders. I will make sure you are properly trained though…so yes, I will be there most of the time.” (Will post after Merion tomorrow for Adriana and Draken)

“I have a good idea where they are.”
A good idea could mean any number of things coming from probably the most powerful dragon rider. Leaning forward in his chair, Mutt stretched out his back silently; he was getting antsy from all the waiting and sitting. He was almost high on blood, and had nothing to play with; this of course was not in the slightest humane context of the word. “I will have to think about the specifics on our attack. An illusion would be tricky…but interesting.” He had of course never tried an illusion, hell he hadn’t even read anything on how they worked. Guessing from the tune of Vanthm’s voice when he said tricky, mutt would probably learn this when he was much more experienced. Maybe something simpler would be taught to him to replace that particular lack of skill, maybe just some simple mind tricks. “I’m not even sure if I want to go for the elders first…maybe the young one will be good to start with.” The young were always fun to play with, even though this rider could possibley be older or near his age. Which meant mutt would be at a disadvantage if he didn’t focus. He could always just ask the ages of each rider, but it wouldn’t change anything if he did; it wasn’t as if he would go easy on his training if he found out the trainee was only five yrs old. “I will be there often to lead you in the right direction but…I have other things to do concerning the Riders. I will make sure you are properly trained though…so yes, I will be there most of the time.” This was as best a cue as any to dismiss himself from the table. Standing up slowly he bowed once and still not entirely sure if he should stabd up before Vanthm. He probably would have waited anyother time, but he was extremly jumpy today. “My Lord I would like t start immediately, may I be given permission to take leave. Also is there a certain category I should start with?” Pushing his chair in, he stood at attention; in hind sight it probably wasn’t a good idea to push his chair in, since it made it appeared as if he was planning to leave regardless of the answer. Hopefully Vanthm would think this as just a sign of his excitement to beign learning. Fumbling the chair nervously he began to slide it back out slowly, hoping that he could slip back into the chair easily if told to take a seat. Last edited by Raze : 07-22-2008 at 03:14 AM. |

Merion woke in the middle of the night with a shake, feeling his nose twitch violently and a loud sneeze erupting from his nose. He moaned and screwed up his eyes, one halfway open where the other was a little more visible, his face contorted slightly. He shook his head violently and brought his hand up, rubbing his temple which was seeming to give him a headache, or at least trying to. He shook his head against though this time it wasn't as rough, slowly standing up as he looked to the east to see the darkness turning a faint Grey, showing the sun would be up in at least 3 or so hours.
He stood straight up, staring into the distance at the sky as if he was looking for something in particular, though he really wasn't. He squinted his eyes for a second then lightened up, taking in a deep breath and letting it out none too slow, making his clothes jerk on his body slightly. Before he had been changed, his clothes had been baggy... though now they were beginning to get a little small, though they were roughly a perfect fit. He seemed stiff, a little sore when he would move at first... his joints popping as he shook slightly in a sense to loosen himself up. His eyes trailed over to the three sleeping dragons, watching their bodies rise and fall as breath filled and left their lungs. Merion still found it ironic how Brisingr was the biggest, though he was the youngest and lesser dragon compared to Klassh and Draken. Though he didn't feel an ounce of disrespect toward Brisingr, if not for him... He wouldn't be who he was today, having actually matured to a point he wouldn't have been if he was just back in his home town, fishing or something. Merion walked to a tree not too far from the house, jumping and grabbing a sturdy branch, pulling himself up on it. His right leg dangled off the branch where his left knee was propped up, his left forearm resting against it. He began venturing into his memories, recollecting his life one year at a time as far back as he could remember. All of the good times, all of the bad times, and everything in between... It seemed like it had been so long ago. He would sit there and watch the life of the land grow as the suns light began to grow, feeling everything around him as he attempted to get a head start on his minds training. He could feel small signals of them all, Halt, Adriana, Klassh, Draken, Brisingr, and various small animals and the foliage... it was so much more vivid than it was when Halt was teaching him before... It was probably because he wasn't wanting to try and go above and beyond someones standards. He was calm, cool, and collected right now, and this helped him condierably... he would have to remember that feeling and use it at a later time when he'd need to.

Adriana opened her eyes minutes after sunset, with bits of everyone’s thoughts running through her own mind. She was catching glimpses of Draken and Klassh’s dreams, and she could sense enough that Merion was already awake. Adriana gave a little smile, impressed that he was already one step ahead of everyone for the day. Kalib and Ki entered her mind, and she furrowed her brow when she couldn’t sense their thoughts of presence. Had they ran?
“Mmmm” She groaned and turned over, her eyes widening some when her arm fell over Halt’s waist and her face softly touched his neck. Then, something strange came over her, and she gently gave his skin a brief sweet kiss before she rolled back over and stood up from the bed. The clothes that she had borrowed out of Halt’s closet was hanging off of her shoulders, and her flaming hair was draped down her back and partially over her face. She made herself a mental note to get herself some fitting clothes before they finally left Du Weldenvarden. Brushing her hair behind her ears she gently stepped out of the room through the hole in the wall, and jogged around the dragons towards the forest surrounding the Elvin city. She needed a bath…badly. Surprisingly, she had failed to notice Merion sitting up in a tree. Perhaps he mind was too focused on other things to take heed of his strong presence so awake and close to her. On her way to the nearest stream, following her senses to the water, she slowly opened her mind to Draken and everyone else around her again. She could only imagine what Draken would have to say to her when he woke up. No doubt he would be filled with warnings and scolding’s about snuggling with an ally. Draken, wake up please. I have a feeling that Kalib and Ki hit the nearest dirt road away from us. Could you scan the area for them? She figured that she might as well wake Draken up. Perhaps it would put him in a better mood, knowing that he had a little morning mission. She only got mental grumbles and complaints from Draken, but she could feel his vibrations through the forest floor as he moved and began to walk some hundred yards away. Not long after, she finally found the deep stream she was looking for. It was perfect for bathing, with large tree’s surrounding and cool water that ran through deep ruts in the ground. Her clothes her stripped off in seconds. It took her a couple of minutes to work her way into the freezing water, but she soon got used to it and let her head drop down under the surface. Ahh. Fresh. Cool. Cleaness. The water felt so good as it pushed against her skin and surrounded her body. Like most Elves, she didn’t need soap to smell good. All she had to do was wash away the usual smells of the world, and her natural sweet scent would shine through. ~X~ “My Lord I would like t start immediately, may I be given permission to take leave. Also is there a certain category I should start with?” “Yes, I would like you to start out small…well, something that you may consider small…but something that will help you out immensely in the long run. I want you to go outside, close your eyes and take deep breaths. Then…when you are relaxed (Draken had a feeling that relaxation would be difficult for Mutt, considering his jumpiness) and connect yourself with the world. Take notice of the small things…until you can pay attention to everything at once.” It was just by pure coincidence that Vanthm gave Mutt the exact same task that Halt had given Merion the day before. It was a common starting task, that most young Dragon Riders under estimate. “I will be there soon to…surprise you.” Vanthm gave Mutt a rather…nasty smile and then he waved his hand in a dismissive manner to Mutt. He was sure that Lagian was making sure that Eclipse was being properly trained, so he decided to let Mutt relax…while he harassed a few maids.

(Hurray, It begins. Also it morning in the other post. But I was going to post as if it was getting dark. If this place isn’t in a different time Zones, I will edit.)
“Yes, I would like you to start out small…well, something that you may consider small…but something that will help you out immensely in the long run. I want you to go outside, close your eyes and take deep breaths. Then…when you are relaxed (Draken had a feeling that relaxation would be difficult for Mutt, considering his jumpiness) and connect yourself with the world. Take notice of the small things…until you can pay attention to everything at once. I will be there soon to…surprise you.” Mutt was extremely excited to begin the training, but was taken aback by Vanthm’s smile; also the thought of a surprise by Vanthm’s was…unsettling. Pushing the chair back in, Mutt gave a small head bow and turned on his toes; which wasn’t a very graceful move since his claws grated slightly against the floor. Pushing the doors open he left the dining hall, leaving Vanthm to his own devises and thoughts. Walking down the long hallway that eventually would lead to the outside of the castle, Mutt reflected on the dinner he had with Vanthm. It had been one of the best meals he had ever had, but also one of the most strained, even though he had acted casual. It wasn’t that he didn’t trust Vanthm’s, it was just he didn’t fully trust Vanthm. He had always observed Vanthm from afar, giving him plenty of buffer room between him and the dark lord. Now that he would be working much more closely with Vanthm, he would need to be more cautious of how he acted, and addressed him. Shouldering the door open Mutt walked outside, he sun already dipping into the horizon. A soft glow from the light still left the only thing lighting the ground. Walking over some dead grass Mutt, and made his way to a large boulder. Leaping onto the rock, he laid down on it his back arched slightly from the roundness of the rock. Stretching his back even more he heard a loud pop as his back popped back into alignment. Relaxing he let his mind wonder a bit, not exactly what Vanthm had told him to do, but considering he was suppose to relax it seemed appropriate. He tried taking a few deep breaths, but it didn’t really help him relax because it just made him pick up the scents around him. Sighing heavily he pushed himself back up into the upright position; his armor shifted a bit, making a clicking noise before settling down. There was really no point in wearing it today since he hadn’t really done anything dangerous or that required protection. Pulling off his chainmail, and armor plates; Mutt stripped off everything except his leather pants and vest. Jumping off the boulder he put them at the base of the rock, making sure not to drop them and put unneeded scratches on them; even though most likely the rock would be the one that got scratched. Leaping back onto the rock Mutt looked around, trying to focus on what was around him visually. Sighing again, Mutt tried crossing his legs, but couldn’t get comfortable because his legs were too lengthy. Growling impatiently Mutt lay back down, looking into the sky. The stars were clearly visible, and several meteors streaked across the sky before disappearing into the night. Closing his eyes, Mutt tried to relax, but only managed in creating a small dialogue between him and himself. Breathing through his mouth rather than his nose, Mutt tried to control his breathing. His mind finally began to quite down, almost an hour later; the noise finally being snuffed out, by his boredom. Refocusing, Mutt tried to sense what was around him…Nothing. Letting lose an animalistic howl, he dug his nails into the rock frustrated at how long this was taking. |
