About a Girl A Daghul and Nixie Production The sun sent a ray of golden light down upon the forest trail, the path seemed to be flooded in beauty as the chilled gust of wind blew pass the trees which swayed in the mid morning air. The sound of the animals kept the morning full of energy as the sun crept over the sky in a graceful flight back to the earth, as it would once again take the lonely trip around the world. Not far from this very spot lived a town, small and quiet compared to most towns, but still it held great joy to be living as all things should. The people were kind and gentle to the land, and held nature high in there minds. Those who wandered into the forest always kept it in awe as if it were some great painting made by some one before. The day was only a shadow to what the world was, what it had been made to be before the world had a taint laid upon it. The story and it's details are lost to the people of the world, and few can tell you what secrets the earth holds. The worlds beauty out rivaled any sight on the world this day, it's colors and smells were to great to describe... All that is known of the old world is that it was taint less, that the Dark Ones did not crawl on it and it was free of war. This was no more who ever brought the taint upon these people and there world had made sure that the way to remove it was hidden from sight, that those who knew the secrets of the world were lost or hidden deep with in the lands. The dark beasts guarded the secrets that even they did not know, they fought back the forces of light that search so hard to revive the land to it's once perfect state. There were gifts though give by one who was before the tainting, gifts that were made to protect and give hope to the land. These gifts were hidden from the people to save them from the hand of the person who first tainted the land. No one knows what the gifts hold or even are, people have spent life times searching and found nothing... though it was closer then any might think. -------------------------------------------------- Deep in the forest walking through the paths doing what she did best was a young maiden who had often found comfort in roaming the land. Her purple hair danced in the wind, and the light of the sun reflected off her fair skin. The girl blended into the beauty of the world and it was perfect, no one could say that it was not amazing... none save the dark ones, who watched in utter grossness nothing could be more vile then what they saw, they knew it would soon be time to move their master called for it.

Maria's head throbbed from the constant thinking. She loved her uncle dearly but the fights that carried on in her household just didn't seem to come to an end. From petty fights on a woman's duty to yelling matches that ended in tears and heartache (sometimes even hatred) Maria had found herself spending a great deal of her time in the woods. Many feared this great land due to it's treacherous beauty, others feared the darkness that lay inside the dark shadows of the trees. Maria never seemed to understand either fear and so nothing really kept her away from her time in the woods. It was nearly a year since she first started spending her afternoons here, and also when she found her little pet ferret, Jomjie. The little thing had been wounded and Maria decided to take him in and heal him. Ever since then the little thing followed her around, as if his life depended on being with her.
The sun was setting now, and the golden flecks of light highlighted the landscape. This was always Maria's favorite time to be in the woods. She had been roaming the forest all afternoon, and to end her distasteful mood, the beauty of the sun causing shadows of the trees to dance lightened her heart. The wind was much cooler now, as appose to earlier, and the forest took on a golden, fiery tone. She could stay here forever if she had the chance; but however mad she was at her uncle or cousins, her heart was calm, and it was time to return home. She looked down the large slope she had spent the last ten minutes climbing and her eyes sparkled as the light from the streamed she now looked at reflected the sun. One last look was all she needed before her night could be complete. The silence seemed to be broken though, and though she tried hard to concentrate her peace upon that vision of the water, Jomjie seemed to be interfering. "What is it Jomjie!?" She said partly curious, but also very annoyed now. The creature just jumped around her feet and sputtered frantically almost as if he wasn't quite sure on what to do. "Stop your fussing, everything is fine, let's enjoy the peace before we head home for dinner." Maria bent down to catch Jomjie in her arms, but he simply snapped at her fingers. She recoiled in fear wondering what had gotten into her lovable pet. Looking about, Maria pulled her arms around her body, in a self-hug fashion. She couldn't tell now if she had been waiting for hours or if the dark night sky was as sudden as she assumed. "This doesn't seem right..."

Duncan laid back staring into the setting sun with a sigh he closed his eyes as thoughts of a time when he did not have to worry about the world came flooding into his mind. The world was falling apart under his feet and no mater what he did it kept falling... his father and his fathers father and beyond had all searched for the answer to save the world, and yet each found only death either by sword or age.
The answers were hidden to save the world not hasten it's death, Duncan opened his eyes to see that the dark had come and left the sky a dark blue. Duncan sighed again as he slipped form his resting spot in a tree, life had become so hard, his hope waned and fell he had to hurry or all would be lost. Hitting the ground and dropping into a crouching Duncan scanned the ground, the forest at night was not a safe place to many dark things traveled through the night. Duncan heard a low growl and he turned to his right "Shadow, what's wrong?" the gray wolf jerk his head to one side and growled again. Duncan stood up and moved quickly through the woods Shadow following steadily behind him. As Duncan moved through the woods the trees started to clear till Duncan saw the most beautiful thing he had ever seen, and young maiden stood in the middle of the trees holding herself as if cold. Duncan watched with a wary eye things like this normally only spelled out bad news. Duncan drew his bow nocking his arrow he drew it back, pulling it to his face he aimed quietly. Duncan shifted his bow side to side, waiting for something anything, then it happened a huge orc moved into the clearing his sword raising up behind the maiden. Duncan let his arrow fly through the air with a thud it rang true, moving out of the bush the hood ranger drew his two sabers and spun slicing through the next orc who jumped out. Duncan quickly gave a low whistle and Shadow jumped at the next orc, Duncan stabbed at the last orc dropping him quickly. Dropping ot the ground Duncan searched the dead body "scouting party! Shadow find them and stall them" Duncan looked to the maiden "quickly, move now follow" Duncan quickly started through the woods.

Maria just about turned to look against the sun when life moved very fast. She barely had time to notice the action committed until everyone had calmed down. Everyone but herself; her heart racing with Jomjie going insane, hissing and prancing around her feet. She watched as a very dark and unusual creature lay slain at her feet and for a moment didn't notice the young man standing beside her.
'Quickly! Move, now follow!" He said, his eyes yearning for her to clue into the dangerous situation. She scooped Jomjie up in her arms and took off running behind the man. "What's going on?!" She yelled ahead, cautiously looking behind her for more evil creatures. "What were those things, why did they try and kill me!?" 'Not now! We need to run!' He yelled back. She darted over rock and root following him, but the attempt failed at one point. She seemed to not notice the enlarged root sticking out of the ground, and her face tasted dirt as she landed nearly on top of Jomji! "Wait!" she managed to scream once spitting dirt out of her mouth. The man stopped and ran back to her. 'Damn!' He yelled as he watched an advancing orc scout near them. He hurried to get her to stand. 'Can you still run?' "I think so!" She said getting up and scoopping the ferret back into her arms. They had managed to loose the orc somehow, but this did not comfort Maria. When they reached an entrance of some cave she stared at the man. Her facial expressions shared all the questions she desired to ask.

Duncan stared down at the Maiden he saw the questions burning in her eyes as hot flames, but knew that there was no time to quench them. The sound of a arrow flying through the air caught Duncan's ears, grabbing the girl he pushed her into the cave "Stay put" grabbing the hilt of his saber he drew one then the other and started out into the forest.
Swiftly taking place behind a tree he head the howl of a wolf deeper into the forest and knew what was about to happen, the sound of feet trampling the ground came clear through the air. Duncan took a deep breath the seconds passing slower every moment, his hands on his blades he rolled out in front of a running orc. Duncan's blades made a clean cut down across the beasts helmet dropping it to the group, spinning he caught the next orc, but as he turned to stab at the next he felt the burning stabbing pain of a arrow catching his arm pulling away the flesh that protected it. Duncan gave a angered yell and threw one of his blade at the archer and it stuck clean into the orcs arm, running at the screaming orc Duncan brought his blade up to attack when pain filled his head as a club of another orc slapped him in the head. stepping back words Duncan tried to stable his sights, but the orcs crowded around him, his sword flew around him as he tried to fight. The orcs were to much as they out numbered him 12 to one, Duncan stabbed to his left, but found only the stabbing pain of a sword to his arm, soon Duncan lay on the ground beaten and bleeding. There was talk among the orcs and three left most likly after the girl, Duncan felt his body being dragged across the ground by a couple orcs. The sound of rushing water could be heard over the harsh talk of the orcs.... it was close to the end.
