Reliynia- Kingdom of Melchior, outside of palace, assigned bedroom, barracks-

A woman of medium height or so stood inside her bedroom thinking of the meeting between the king of this land and herself. Fidgeting around and growing restless from sitting inside such a cramped bedroom she opens her door and steps outside.

Her red hair rippling down her back in waves and her green eyes peircing through the night. Her half elven heritage showing only in her eyes, ears, and the small frame of her body. The other side of her heritage showed greatly that she was in fact half human as well. Wearing a white linen shirt and brown leather pants all four of her swords were still strapped on. Her white pommeled sword strapped diagonally from her upper left to the lower right, the black pommeled sword was also strapped on diagonally starting from the upper right to the lower left. A chaotic looking pommel was on her left hip and a blue pommeled sword was on her right hip, both attached to a leather belt strap. All the swords where about the same length and same width.

Looking up into the stars and wondering about the strange events that had led back her to the place of childhood. She hoped she would
never be here again and here she was...again. Mubbling curses under her breath she tried to understand just how easily the council of Linwood
had recongnized her, after all she hadn't been back their since she was two years old. "I didn't recognize them!" stating matter of factly to herself in a low voice. She turned to her left to start walking away from her bedroom when she saw a dark green tunic and a bastard sword which she recognized as being elven made. "Oh sorry...I guess I guess I didn't hear you there." she said in an apologetic low but aduible voice.

Captain Daelon Straton: Empire of Haltia, Training Fields outside Capital City

Daelon heard the trotting horse coming up behind him and turned around to see who was there. A uniformed man on horseback was drawing near. Looking at the shoulder bars he could tell this man was another Captain. At this distance he couldn’t make out the face to put a name to it. The Captain called out to him as he neared.

“Good evening Capitan Daelon… Nice to see that some of our officers still train their men properly,” the Captain called out as he dismounted and began walking towards Daelon. “I have new orders for you,” the man stated as he stopped a few paces in front of Daelon.

As the man approached Daelon finally recognized him. Captain Vernnal. Daelon didn’t know much about him but the little he did know drew a favorable reaction. Vernnal was a loyal servant of the Emperor and good to his soldiers. Vernnal was also on the Emperors War Council. Perhaps the rumors were true that General Malin had been relieved. Perhaps the new General wanted Daelon specifically to serve under him!

On the other hand perhaps it was bad news. Perhaps the army had grown too cumbersome and Daelon was going to be relieved. Perhaps something horrible had happened. Daelon took a deep breath to calm himself and saluted Captain Vernnal. Serving on the War Council gave him seniority over himself.

“Captain I am ready to serve the Emperor at all times,” Daelon replied smartly.

Capitan Vernnal - Empire of Haltia, Training Fields outside Capital City

As Capitan Daelon saluted him, Vernnal did the same. When he heard “Captain I am ready to serve the Emperor at all times,” Vernal smiled.

Capitan Vernnal then said softly, “Well spoken Capitan Daelon, that is exactly what I wanted to hear from you.” He then folded his hands behind his back and standing more casually, hoping Daelon would do the same. “I know I never get out a lot and spend most of my days in the palace. But I hear things… and I have heard a lot of you Capitan, and I see the rumors live up to what they say.” He waved his hand towards the training field. “You train your men very well… with General Malin’s and yours.

He looked directly into the younger Capitan’s eyes and said, “I have bad news for you Capitan… You are no longer Capitan of the Imperial army of Haltia.” Capitan Vernnal wanted to smile but he kept his military face on. “You are to report to the throne room tomorrow at 0900 hours. The Emperor wishes to speak to personally about you being relieved as Capitan. I am sorry I have to give you this news… your services as a Capitan will be sorely missed…but the Emperor willed it to be so.” With that said, Capitan Vernnal clicked his heals together and gave him a salute… Which, given by superior officers first was almost unheard of. After Daelon would salute him back he would turn and mount his horse again.

He gave him a nod as goodbye and kicked his horse’s flanks and headed back to the castle. I wonder what his reaction would be like when the emperor tells him? He shrugged

Aerandir - Kingdom of Melchior, outside of palace, out side of barracks-

With a sigh Aerandir could not wait to go to bed. Something about the King made him wonder… he seemed… He did not finish the thought when he saw ahead of him a woman with red hair and at least four swords on her person. He heard her say out loud. “I didn’t recognize them!”

Aerandir stopped five feet away from the woman. She was Elvin like himself but… also a human! Very interesting… He only met one other half elf, but he had not seen him for fifty years. He heard her apologize and he said… “No need to apologize if nothing offending was stated,” He then said softly, “I suppose you were sent here for a special mission by the Elvin council? Then it will seem that we are going to be working together…

His silver eyes could be seen from under his hood and he offered his hand. “My name is Aerandir… May I ask what your name is?

Reliynia- Kingdom of Melchior, outside of palace, outside of barracks-

Her first intitial scare was now well over she had drifted back to thoughts and memories of this place kingdom when she heard him say “No need to apologize if nothing offending was stated,” then heard him finish his sentence with “I suppose you were sent here for a special mission by the Elvin council? Then it will seem that we are going to be working together…”. Finally looking at him again she nodded her head and didn't say anything, then she replied. "Yes the...the council sent me," she spoke loud enough for him to hear her then almost at once became less audible as she said, "Though I have not lived in Linwood for twenty years now." still aubible enough to be heard though. She seemed be lost in thought for a moment then turn around and looked back up at the stars. Ten minutes passed when she finally half way turned around more from her waist then her feet and said, "My name is Reliynia. It's nice to meet you Aerandir. Do you know exacltly what this "special mission" is?" she asked now fully turning around her choatic pommeled sword flashed white then black and back to choatic colors as she found a tree and sat down underneath it.

She looked as though nature was her element, and you notice she looked at the buildings with a mixture of fear and trepidation. Rubbing her back against the tree in a cozy type manner she seemed to be thinking to herself again. She absently pull out the blue pommeled sword and layed it across her lap. Opening a belt pouch she pulled out a bottle of clear fluid and a piece of cloth. Tilting over the bottle of fluid with the cloth underneath she began to polish her blade. The blade was dwarven with dwarven writing on it, though she quickly turned it over in her hands to now polish the other side. "Never meet a full blooded Elf until today in Linwood. And now I seem to be meeting more elves." she murmured half to Aerandir and half to herself.

- Selena, Kingdom of Melchior, Outside of Palace, Training Grounds -
She stepped out of her room in the barracks dressed in a loose fitting grey shirt to match her black leather pants, her foot steps carried her out into the night were the moon caressed over the training field. Selena stood there taking in the view of the silver washed earth from the moons rays. While she watched her hands were busy drawing her hair back to be tied back by some pieces of leather, so her blond hair with strikes of gold could fall down her back out of the way.

The guard still on duty walked along the training fields heading towards the end were Selena was standing. " Your usually nightly rounds, Selena?" he called when nearing her.

She turned towards the guard that was speaking, her eyes recognized one of the men who did the night patrol. She grinned lightly when speak," Yeah, the usually. Care to help me out tonight ?" she asked when stepping out into the moon light. She began to stretch her slender frame to work the kinks from her body. Eyes would settle on the guard as she awaited his reply.

The guard set down the shield he was carrying, and his spear to rest against a wall. He stepped into the training grounds while chuckling," Oh you know that the lads and I enjoy this part of the nightly round. We get the chance to try kicking your butt." he replied.

" Oh come on you guys know I take it easy on you." she teased him when striking out with a light punch to his shoulder. Selena moved away from the guard to move towards the center of the field.

Under the moon light in the field the sounds of heavy breathing could be heard from two people that were working hard. One circled the other aiming to strike for open areas while the other dodged to avoid the strikes. Each were eying the other for openings for either a thrust of their fist, or a loose step that they could use to kick their opponite off their feet. It looked to be a long night ahead for this two .

Sarah- Kingdom of Melchior, throne room/barracks-
Laced within her side satchel of her horse was the summons from the king, and the orders from her home, but the date for her arrival had already passed by one day. Unfortunately, his summons had not worked well for Sarah and the duties that needed to be accomplished. Sarah had ridden throughout the night to try and arrive on time, but that simply was not going to happen. She dismounted in front of the elaborate building. She loved to look over this structure, call it a small hobby of her own.
Her feet would silently bring her into the castle, although her eyes would not remain on anyone for an extended length of time. As she moved through the castle, her thick honey waves swayed with each step, as if to predict the next. She did not notice anyone leaving the thrown room, but her attention had been on other matters. She did not realize how quickly the doors of the thrown room approached her. She soon found herself in front of the doors, her slender hands reaching out and pressing on the double doors. She slowly slipped through the doors, her steps barely creating a sound. The doors slowly closed behind her as she slipped into the massive room. She stopped shortly after the doors, her eyes slowly searched the guards. Those sky blue eyes rested on one of the guards, as if studying him more than others before slowly coming more within the room.
“You have summoned me?” she spoke in a medium tone. She was not afraid of offending, but she also frequently forgot her manner. Sarah did not often find herself around royalty, quite the opposite. Her slender frame did bow ever so slightly, but it was only a simple hint of a bow…a very simple hint. She did not say a word at this point, simply waiting for the reply. Her eyes did not remain on anyone for a long period of time, as it almost appeared that this young woman was quite antsy, but she did remain somewhat attentive to sound.
The king watched as this Elvin woman entered his throne room, as he was about to leave... She was a bit late. He heard her stating he summoned her and noticed her very slight bow. Who does she think she is, even the elf before her was more proper in addressing a king! He was silent for the moment and said softly, "I am guessing you are from the Linwood here to join the small squad I was preparing?” With out giving a chance for her to answer he walked over to the small table and picked up the last scroll that. It was obvious that he had spoken to all the others and had given their papers. He walked over to the woman and offered the scroll. “Here you are, hand this to your squad Capitan tomorrow morning…. And don’t be late!” He then waved his hand “You are dismissed. You can find your room in the barracks. Someone will be there to show you were it is.” He walked back up the stairs to his throne and headed for a side door that would lead to the hallway of where his bedroom was located.
She would have raised her eyebrow, although part of her wanted to say something but she was not stupid. She took the scroll without a word. She could tell that he was not exactly pleased with her, but she never apologized. It was something not within her nature to apologize. She noticed the scrolls were mostly gone, although she shrugged the fact off. She heard how she was dismissed, her jaw tightening ever so slightly. She turned and left the room without a word. Shaking her head as she slowly moved through the castle. Her fingers slowly toying with the scroll as she walked through the halls. She only spoke enough to slowly begin to find her way through the castle…although the thought of remaining in a barracks again…caused a sigh to leave her lips. She actually seemed quite disgruntled at this point, she just wanted to be back home…the thought causing her to daydream as she walked.

Leah - Capital city, Arcada, Empire of Haltia, palace, bedroom. -

A slow breath was inhaled through her soft lips and held it in her lungs for the time being. What would this mean? Would he have the curse that his father had? If he did, would that not mean that somehow Acharon's spirit would be split in half? All these questions haunted her mind, questions that she tried to push away although she could not. Her form moved slowly to the window to gaze out into the day. Her soft brown eyes fell closed lightly, exhaling the breath that she had held in.

The thoughts fled when he moved over to her and wrapped his arms about her waist. Her own arms flew about him gently when she turned to him, holding him close to her form. Sighing into his neck, she spoke gently to him. "Everything will be alright. We've gotten through things like this before, this will be no different. He does not appear to be inflicted with anything besides the mark on his arm." When she pulled back, tears had flooded over her eyes. "Let us allow Damien to rest, sweetheart..." Her form moved slowly, because of how weak she still was, toward the door, feet thudding gently. When she reached the door, she took a deep breath and gestured him out.

After they both were on the outside of the room, Leah gave another soft sigh. "I know you have things to do, so go and do them. Like I said, everything will be alright." Giving him a hug and a gentle kiss on his lips, she pulled back with a reassuring smile. "Just don't get yourself into too much trouble, hmm?" Turning after a squeeze to his right hand, her form headed down to the stairs to leave him with what he was suppose to be doing that day.

Daelon Straton: Empire of Haltia, Capital City of Arcada

Daelon tried not to let the overwhelming grief show on his face. He saluted Captain Vernnal back. Odd that Vernnal would salute him first, must have been a courtesy since he knew how crushing this would be to him. Daelon had joined the army at age fifteen which wasn’t unheard of, most just waited until the came of age at seventeen. Vernnal mounted his horse and gave Daelon a nod before riding off. Daelon merely stood in place for a moment still in shock. The army was the only life he knew, what now?

Instead of going back to the Officer Quarters Daelon decided to visit his wife instead. One thing about being cooped up in the capital city he was free to see his family whenever he wished. Now it seemed he would be able to spend more time with them. He took the long way home through the lively streets of the capital. Most people avoided him as he was dressed in his combat uniform still. Some smiled and thanked him for defending the Empire. A few even tried to give him things, a small trinket, a free meal. One fine young lady even offered up herself. After some time of meandering through the city he passed by Garttles Inn.

‘If Jarash is there maybe he knows something I do not,’ Daelon thought. Jarash had always been more outgoing then Daelon. Jarash had a large network of friends in many places which meant that when rumors spread Jarash was one of the first to know. Daelon took a deep breath and opened the door.

The smell inside was a mixture of hard working men, over cooked stew, and fresh ale. It made Daelon nauseous. Just thinking of eating or drinking any of this made Daelons stomach squirm. He took a moment to let his eyes adjust to the darkness and to try to calm his stomach.

“Hey look, it’s captain ‘I am too good for such a place,’” Jarash called out with a huge smile on his face. Now that his eyes had adjusted somewhat he could see Jarash at a large table with a few other officers. The Inn was somewhat clean and the furniture seemed sturdy enough. Daelon made his way over to the table and seated himself at the remaining seat.

“A large ale for my friend Dae Regie!” Jarash called out joyfully.

“Daelon shook his head vehemently. “No sir. Just some water would be fine. Clear water, not dirty water from the sty please,” Daelon called out shooting Jarash a slight frown. He lowered his voice. “Are you trying to kill me, you know that would put me down for a week straight!” Daelon scolded him

“Awww come on, I wasn’t going to force it down your throat or anything,” Jarash said a bit more seriously though still smiling. Daelon simply folded his arms and smiled. He knew Jarash was just playing and it was impossible to be mad at him for any length of time. Regie the bar keep showed up with his water, clear enough, and a large bowl of stew for the mad sitting next to him. Daelon caught a whiff of the stew and his stomach nearly turned. He quickly took a drink of water and looked directly at Jarash.

“You haven’t heard anything about a decrease in the size of the army have you?” Daelon asked him. The table suddenly went quiet and Jarash went from a wide smile to a slight frown.

“No. No such nonsense, why would you even ask Dae?” Jarash asked.

Daelon recounted the tale of his meeting with Captain Vernnal. “Odd,” Jarash said after Daelon had finished his tale. Then he suddenly smiled. “You do know what this means don’t you?” Jarash asked.\

“Yeah, I’ll probably end up a Merc because war is all I know,” Daelon said sadly shrugging his shoulders.

Jarash shook his head. “No sir. Maybe you are the new General!” Jarash exclaimed. He must have seen the confused look on Daelons face. “Ahh the rumors are true Dae, General Malin has been canned, they are searching for a new General to lead the army.” Jarash explained.

Daelon shook his head. “No there are many other captains far more qualified then I am, I was never that great at the politics that go on at those levels,” Daelon said dropping his gaze to the floor. “I knew I would be stuck at Captain forever. I stick my neck out too far for my troops.”

“Well you could be right friend. However maybe you should wait until your appearance before the Emperor before joining up with any Mercs,” Jarash stated enthusiastically. “Perhaps it’s not as bad as it sounds,” Jarash added hopefully.

Another smell of his neighbors stew and he felt bile coming up into his throat. He took another large gulp of water and washed it back down. “Thanks Jar, I’ll keep my head up,” Daelon said, trying to convince himself it would be OK was much harder.

“Yes sir, General,” Jarash said playfully saluting him. Daelon waved a hand at him dismissively and exited the Inn quickly. He nearly tripped over himself trying to get back out to cleaner air. Hopefully Jarash was right. Hopefully this wasn’t as bad as it seemed.

It was getting late and Daelon should let his wife know the latest news.

Wicker - Capital city Meloss, kingdom of Melchior, Palace, Throne room ~

Wicker sprinted down the white marble floor of the Palace towards the Throne room. He was late as always. The King of Melchior had summoned him and now he was running very very late, so the young human ran the distance from the front gates at top speed. Several of the Palace guards had stopped him and questioned him - one had even tried to tackle him to the ground, mistaking him for a would-be assassin - so now he charged ahead, holding the paper he had been sent directly from the palace out infront of him for everyone to see.

"Where is it? The Throne room! I'm late! Late!" Panic-stricken, he followed the directions he'd been given by a knight at the gates. His sword clattered at his side and his weather-beaten armour bobbed up and down with each step he took.

Finally the massive doors that had been described to him were in sight. When he got to them a knight stepped into his path and held out a firm hand, instructing him to stop. Wicker halted, face red, leg-muscles burning, heaving for breath,
"I... summoned. King... letter..." He held out the letter and handed it to the Knight who snatched it from him and examined it.
"You will wait here until summoned, Baril." He told him firmly.
"Wicker..." the young man replied.
"Excuse me?" The Knight asked him, still with a harsh quality.
"Call me Wicker, please. Everyone does." He started to regain his breath.
"This says Baril. Baril Wickson from Larendos." This time the Knight handed back the paper and cupped his hands behind his back, Wicker took the paper and stuffed it in the pouch at his hip,
"Everybody calls me Wicker, sir. Always have. I apologise sincerely for my time-keeping. My horse died along the way and I was forced to walk. That horse was in my family for all it's life. Very sad," He was rambling now, "I was only a boy when it was born so it was quite upsetting when he finally went. Quite unexpected." The Knight pointed to a balcony where he could wait to be called,
"Over there, Wicker. The King may not be ready for you, so you'll have to wait. Please do so over there."
Wicker looked over his right shoulder then turned to walk towards the balcony. He was half way there when he turned back to face the Knight,
"Is the King angry with me?" The Knight stood still and silent. Wicker cleared his throat in embarrisment and shuffled over to wait for the King to call for him.

Aaron- Empire of Haltia, Capital city Arcada, Palace, outside of Bedroom –

When Leah spun around and threw her arms about him and told him it will be all right, that they will make it through. He smiled at her newfound courage that he loved so much about her. As she said, it was his curse that was passed down to their son Damien. A terrible curse that he was able to keep control of for the past 50 years. He had a few days in which he almost lost it but with his wife Leah there to give him support and courage, he was able to fight back.

When Leah said, “Let us allow Damien to rest, sweetheart…” He nodded and turned to leave. He had kept his arm around her, supporting her when she needed, for she seemed still very weak at the moment.

After they were outside of the room Aaron would close the door. He listened to her, kissed and hugged her back. When she said don’t get into to much trouble he smiled and said softly as she squeezed his hand “Ha… You know me, trouble is my middle name.” He watched her walk away and down the stairs. He lingered a moment and looked at the bedroom door. His right armored hand reached out and touched it gently. Damien… My son… I may the gods be merciful to you unlike your cursed father…He made a fist and closed his eyes… as if he was saying a personal prayer to the gods at that moment. He then turned and walked the other way to his office; surely there would be papers there to sign. He just hoped that the stack was small today.

Aerandir – Kingdom of Melchior, Capital city Meloss, out side of palace, in front of barracks –

Aerandir heard what she said about the council he then said softly, “The council is made up of the oldest elf’s in the Linwood. They remember everyone they have very good memories… They even remembered what it was like before the rein of Acharon.” He spoke the name with some malice in his voice. He had hoped that he would show up, but ever since fifty years ago he seemed to vanish. The council did not belief him saying it was impossible for Acharon to come back to life. Well they were not there.

He did not seem to realize that ten minutes had passed when she stated her name “Reliynia” and that it was nice to meet him. When she asked if he knew anything about the special mission he said softly, “I was told what the king told everyone else, that we are going to be a special elite group.” He looked over to his left and he saw a woman sparring one of the guard’s for the night patrol. He shook his head Hopefully tonight would not be a night when some one attacked and the guard was not at his post. If he saw her again he would have to speak to her of that.

He saw her Dwarven blade he shook his head. The blades were nice of course, for the dwarfs were experts at making weapons and armor, but they tended to be on the heavy side. Unlike the Elvin blades, which were just as good if not better, but they were lighter than a feather.

When Reliynia said that she never met a full elf until recently he was surprised… then he though she must of decided to live outside the Linwood because of parents or what ever the case. He nodded and said softly “Most likely you will meet more purebred elf’s tomorrow morning.

He then sighed, "I must get some sleep, I advise you to get some as well… Remember we have to meet in the Training grounds tomorrow morning at 0800 hours. I hope you have a good night. ” He bowed his head and turned and walked to his room. As he walked slowly he turned his head to the right and noticed another elf walking his way. He would have said a proper hello but he was too tired at the moment. So instead he turned and bowed in her direction, if she would bow back or not he did not give her a chance to, he turned placed his hand on the door and walked inside. He took off all of his clothes except for his pants and lay down in the cot, but not before placing a long Elvin dagger under his pillow. He reached out and turned the knob that turned off the oil lamp.

The king – Kingdom of Melchior, Capital city Meloss, palace, throne room –

As the king was about to leave on of his knights had stopped him. The king looked to him and waited for what the young knight had to say.

The knight bowed and said, “’M’lord… There is a Baril Wickson from Larendos waiting on the balcony for you.”

The king raised an eyebrow “Is that so?” He looked to the table, there was only one scroll left. “The fool is four hour’s late!” He shook his head and said, “Some nerve’s of these knights who come from other kingdoms, OR woods!” He walked over to the throne and picked up the scroll from the table and started walking to the door. He did not want to wait for “Baril Wickson” to take his time by walking into the throne room. The king was tired and wanted some sleep. His four guards followed him closely and the door guard’s opened the door for him.

The king walked quickly out of the throne room. He saw the man standing on the balcony and walked straight towards him “Baril Wickson…” The king said loudly to get his attention. When he would turn around the king reached out and placed the scroll into his hands. “Give this to your Capitan tomorrow morning at 0800 hours sharp! DON’T BE LATE!” He said angrily. The only reason he was like this because of his long day, it was nothing personal. The king then said “Your room is at the barracks, you can find someone who would lead you to your Chambers. But most likely get the worst room because of your tardiness. I do not want this to continue…there are no excuses.” With that he would turn and walk back to his chambers…
