Altair shuffled some papers at his desk. Suddenly, a hawk flew in with a piece of paper tied to its leg. Altair stared at the hawk for a moment. He reached over and carefully untied the string that was holding the paper to the hawk's leg. Altair unfolded the paper and began reading it. He mumbled the words as he read. he set the paper down on his desk and walked to the bell tower in the center of the school. He pulled the long rope. The bell rang, calling the students to the courtyard.

Byrtt entered the courtyard as the bell tower rung out.
'Why would master Altair call us to the courtyard now?'
Shrugging, he continued to the center of the courtyard.
Standing at attention, he awaited Master Altair to adress his students.

Altair walked out to his students. "I'm afraid i have some bad news. There is an evil greedy king that believes we are a threat to him and his kingdom.... he has offered me tons of treasure to shutdown this academy... i called you all here to tell you...." Altair had the fire of determination in his eyes. "i'm turning down his offer. no doubt he'll try force next... you all know what to do if he does." Altair spoke with vigor.

Byrtt didn't flinch as Master Altair spoke of the possible attack on the accademy.
'I relish the chance to kill those who are ignorant of our true purpose.'

"Of course we do, Master." He said calmly, with a shallow bow.

Altair nodded "that will be all. continue with your normal activity." he walked back to his room. once he reached his desk, he took out a quial pen and replied to the king's letter...
my answer is no... i don't care how much treasure you offer me... this academy will remain open. i assure you... if you or your soldiers set one foot in here... you better hope the traps get you before i do...
Altair tied the message to the hawk's leg and guided the hawk out the window, watching it as it flew off.

Crugeon had heard the words of his master from the crowd of students in the courtyard, who he had just addressed. Crugeon smiled and stroked the scabbard of his sword. 'Hmmm...a squabble eh.'

He shouted amongst the crowd.

'Master! Are there any precautions we should take? Such as certain targets to eliminate? One of my sources tell me he has a tax collector in the nearby town. I f we take him out it could affect his.. 'income'.

Avari’s heartbeat went up when he heard his master’s words. Not because of the fear of an open attack on the Academy, for he didn’t believe for one second the Academy would fall if Altaïr was there to guide them, but because of the thrill of a new mission. Taking out the king’s men, watching that old foolish king shiver in fear before they took him out…

He clenched his fists when he heard Crugeon’s suggestion. It sounded wise, and he hoped Altaïr would approve.
Avari couldn’t wait to hear his master’s orders.

Altair glanced at Crugeon. "very good idea Crugeon. i admire your creativity." he gave a small smile.
meanwhile, at a palace far away, a king was indulging in fine food and wine when suddenly he was interuppted by a hawk entering the room with a piece of paper tied to its leg. the king detached the paper and read it. he waded it up and threw it across the room. "i'll show him... saddle up men! we're going to school..." the king smirked.
Altair looked up. "prepare yourselves. the king probably is on his way here. get your weapons ready."
