Bjorn glared beneath his helmet, turning slightly to view observe that he was now surrounded by hostile appearing folk. Perhaps one Skaven said he'd follow the little witch on his shoulder, but that didn't mean he trusted it in the least. It was a rogue-like little thing, and he expected it to make a try at stabbing him in the back anytime now. Then there were the pirates that were now boarding the ship. Individually he could kill any of them simply enough, but there were too many, armed with southerner black-powder weapons. He'd be cut down by lead as soon as he even made a move for one of them. It was a depressing situation for a warrior of chaos. But, it made him happy he didn't kill the girl awhile ago, she seemed good with this sort of situation. He'd let Anya speak, she knew what she was doing, he'd let her have the boring job. He shifted his weight, taking a small step back. He put down the corpse he gripped in his right hand, but made no move for his second axe. He slowly began to ponder things. First the zombies, then Anya, then pirates, then a rat-man. SOmeone was indeed messing with fate. Tzeentch must want something done, it appeared. He wouldn't gather all these folk here in one location for no reason, unless he wanted to watch a battle royale, but that wasn't the Changer of Ways' style. Bjorn grinned, and listened to Anya negotiate with the pirate-wench.

'You not call me rat-thing, girlthing. I am skaven, greater than any rat, any manthing too, yes-yes! The master race! And I serve no-one! No skaven no more, no Princething! But I am new to this land, so I follow you, help you, yes-yes, but for a price. I am assassin, assassin does nothing for free. I help you, but you pay me, yes-yes, in warpstone, yes-yes! And this feast! But you try anything sneaky-sneaky... But we all friends here, yes-yes? You, me, this warrior! First, need introduction. My name Kritch.'

It was not without reason that men feared the Skaven, and not only for their hideous visage or their utter lack of regard for the sanctity of life. Those two were common traits to the enemies of the Empire. Orcs, Northmen, Beastmen... they were all filthy, ugly brutes who would smash your head in without a second thought. No, what made the Skaven terrifying was something else: They were unpredictable. When dealing with most other enemies of the Empire, you could almost always except them to attack you head-on with a thunderous roar. Not so with the Skaven. They were sneaky and unpredictable, sly and devious. If they did attack head-on, then you simply fought back. If they appeared frightened, then you'd do best to be cautious to avoid falling into a trap. If they seemed sure of themselves, you'd do best to run to avoid their hidden ace in the hole. And if they simply walked up to you and started talking, not even Sigmar could save you. Especially if they talked about being friends. So the logical response to Kritch's actions would've been to bash his head in and make a run for it. It was a damn shame, then, that Anya was not bound by such things as logic.

Even if one would have been so bold as to actually stay around to listen to the Skaven's little speech, one would have done best to do so ten feet away with both a weapon and an escape route close at hand. And even if one didn't do so, it would have at least been a good idea to show proper respect to the speaker and avoid upsetting him. Anya, however, saw it fit to crouch right next to Kritch and study the wicked little blade he kept so close to his paw. She wasn't even paying any attention to what he said, instead eyeing the blade with curiosity. The blade didn't look particularly efficient at cutting, what with all those nasty barbs and spikes. Then again, it had most likely been designed to cause for pain than death. The pain would keep the target from doing much at all while the poison made its way into their system. Or at least, that was what Anya thought as she stared at the blade, eyes shining with childish joy. Only when Kritch finally stopped talking did she answer and then not even looking up from the blade.

"Kritch? We would never have imagined that rats had such names. No, we would not! Well, actually, I would, but I would disagree with that. Then again, I tend to make rather silly arguments. No, I do not! Perhaps not. Still, we would agree that it is a funny name. Yes, funny indeed!" she looked up from the blade and smiled at Kritch. "Still, we are happy that Kritch wants to attend the banquet! We're sure that the Prince will make him happy! Yes, happy indeed!"

Anya was about to continue on her own speech as she examinated the blade, but something else caught her attention. The one from before, the older girl, had arrived on the scene. She was holding some sort of sharp thing, but didn't look like she was about to use it. Anya figured that she was planning to, but later. Perhaps to entertain the others on the ship? That seemed likely. But not now. No, now she was smiling down on Anya! And saying something too, of course. Talking was also good, if only as a mild distraction.

"First you'll be elaborating, young lady....upon this fortune which you speak and are going to be so generous as to share..."

Oh, so she wanted to hear about the great feast? Well, that was something Anya could happily share! The other girls always had to know what was expected of them. How else could they be good? True enough, the Prince didn't tell Anya everything, but he did share this or that with her so that she could serve and be a good girl. And now the other girl needed to know as well.

"Well..." Anya got up from the floor and walked closer to the woman, a big grin on her face. "We have a little plan in mind. Well, actually it's grand, but we've been told to be humble. We need some more toys, but we're almost complete. Even if I miss a teddy. Then again, I should really shut up. No, I should shut up. Nevermind, we'll continue all the same. With your little boat, we plan to go deep, deep, deep into the jungles! It'd be no fun to travel on foot, so we know of a way in! Then, with our, big, biiig bodyguard, we will be protected from the big lizards! Then, the little rat-thing called Kritch will take out the biggie lizard and then another will take over! Then, with every lizard distracted, we can find great treasure! Yes, great treasure indeed!"

As Anya spoke, she almost danced around on the deck, making wild gestures as she went on. Aided by her supernatural charisma, Anya almost seemed to make things living by her gestures. One could easily imagine the great treasures that could be earned from going along with her plan, or how easily the Lizardmens' defences could be penetrated by such a small crew. It all seemed logical when Anya said it.

'I told you not call me rat-thing, girlthing.'
Kritch spoke up tetchily, but his heart was not really in it. His ears had pricked up at the mention of treasure, and the plan sounded decent enough, at least bearing in mind the numbers of pawns available. To his superior skaven mind the obvious path would be to invade en masse, vast numbers of skaven swarming over the jungle relying on sheer mass and ferocity to win the day, casualties meaning little, and then... the treasure would be fought over for decades, the jungle scoured by war, and Kritch would likely see none of it. No, this way was better then.
But what biggie lizardthing? Kritch had heard tales of... Slann, they were called. Creatures of unbelievably powerful magic, commanding armies of smaller lizardthings, never invading, always defending, which Kritch considered a waste. According to the teachings of Eshin, they were cold-blooded; most poisons would not be effective against them. But there were some, yes-yes, that stayed in the bloodstream! It would take time, and the Slann would not be killed, but driven insane, eventually entering an eternal hibernation from which it could never wake.
But it was risky, yes-yes. Anything that used magic going insane was risky; the poison would amplify the lizardthing's sensitivity to the flows of magic, and it would be infected with chaos, becoming immeasurably evil and powerful before it died, weeks later. During that time, it's magic would affect the legions of lizardthings, and a great army would arise, scouring the earth, or at least the areas of it not affected by cold. It sounded almost fun.

At least, that was the theory. The Slann might just destroy its own mind, soul obliterated by its great power, which was also an acceptable result.

'I like this plan, girlthing. But, my task is hardest, yes-yes, so I get more treasure, see-see? But we decide that later, when we have treasure.'

And, he added to himself silently, when he had assessed the weaknesses of each and every one of his companions, and he could eliminate them all. Sharing did not come naturally to a skaven.

He turned his gaze to the womanthing commanding the boatthing, a sleek, deadly looking thing, far more suitable for a skaven like himself, unlike the scow which had carried him here. He considered her thoughtfully, acknowledging the way she carried herself. She was used to fighting, yes-yes. She was silent, too, not committing to anything. Foolthing! Commitments can be broken at any convenient time! She should seize the chance!
Nevertheless, she was a womanthing to watch carefully.

Alessio frowned slightly as he heard the others talking, outlining their individual plans and methods of attack, but a smile crept up his lips. Kritch, he thought, I have heard of a Kritch... For a moment he puzzled silently, trying to work out where he had heard the name before, but dismissed it as irrelevant. If the Skaven got in his way, he would die, his identity was of no consequence. Something stirred close by him, and Alessio pulled a blade out quickly, the dark metal sliding silently from the greased sheath.
The bird pecked at the corpse, pulling off small chunks of flesh, before swallowing them, and dropping its head for more. A frown crossed Alessio's face as he stared at the corpse, looking over its bloated, green skin. Infected, he concluded, then looked at the bird. Soon to be infected, he thought, and a smile lit up his face. Lesser creatures getting what they deserve, by eating each other... It was almost ironic.
Brining his mind back to the present, Alessio pondered what to do. He could jump out and attack, but with the manthings guns trained on the ship, that would be unwise... most unwise. He could try to join them, but the very thought made his skin crawl, and he dismissed it instantly. Tracking them to their objective sounded like a good idea, following them to the gem, and them stealing it from under their noses. He grinned again, and crawled silently to the edge of the boat, hidden by barrels and corpses, before sliding over the side, and vanishing under the guard rails.

"And you, skaven...." Aliyana addressed to Kritch, but the look in her eye was far more distrusting and venomous. Her hand tightened on the sword"....make your offer to why you'd be included in this...feast. I know your kind and your ways, you'd gut anything if it would give you a moment's advantage. I can appreciate that in some situations, but this is one where one needs trust. And a skaven's word, if you'll pardon me, isn't worth very much of that...."

Kritch grinned nervously at the womanthing boatlord, careful not to show his teeth.
'But, womanthing, I am no mere skaven! I am assassin of Eshin. We have a strict code of honour, yes-yes!'
Which, he added to himself, did not include keeping his word.
'But, offended though I am, I kind, generous, so I ignore that insult. To answer... why does anyone go to a feast? I hungry, womanthing. Need good food. Long sea voyage.'
He beamed happily at her, certain he had outwitted her.

The "womanthing" looked at the skaven again, an eyebrow raised. It was clear that she was not as fooled as his grin might have indicated he thought.

"And what worth be the word of a family who knows no legacy in my memory or heart? You say you're generous, skaven of Eshin whatever that means, so tell me how you intend to be generous enough to make it worth my time to trust a murdering thing like you on my ship? What worth is it to risk you cutting my entire crew, including myself, to pieces with your poison blades when we sleep? My father, curse his black heart, has fought your kind in Empire lands and the tales of your ways in the arts of murder are not unknown to me. Make your case well and faster than you have been, for I have no time past this question to inquire more."

Kritch blinked in surprise at the womanthing. She was definitely tricky, definitely to be watched carefully! Kritch would have to employ greater trickery, to the point of an outright lie, which he was good at.

'You offend me, womanthing! What words are these you say to a good skaven like me! Much misunderstood, yes-yes, skaven are... we are not murderous, no-no! We keep to ourselves, leave your kind alone. These tales you speak of, just tales! No truth!' He put on a hurt expression.
'But I see your true colours now, womanthing. You are not honourable, not like skaven, you are a pirate! Some-thing for some-thing, no-thing for no-thing, yes-yes? Not like me! I offer you friendship freely, you insult me! So I offer you this; I give you a tithe of my treasure, when we gets it. I don't know how much, no-no, this girlthing does though!'

He shuffled backwards, blinking nervously, hoping he had distracted some of the attention from him. This was not the Skaven way, not bargaining with humans in the open! He would normally have sneaked onto the ship, and still could, but would rather be on the deck after the experiences of his previous voyage; besides, he might learn more about this treasure. He just had to make sure no-one tried to impale him with anything.

As soon as the captain and the Skaven started their debate, Anya's interest had floated far away. Instead of taking either side and badmouthing the other or even contributing at all, Anya had ignored the two of them fully and completely. Much rather than waste time on little words, she'd spent time admiring the great axes carried by her newfound bodyguard. Yes, the twin blades were sharp and heavy, perfect for the kind of work that the Prince usually had Anya perform. There would be some of that too in the feast, but only a small part. The Prince had much more interesting things in mind...

Still, the heated argument soon caught the attention of even Anya's clouded mind. Pushing her fixation with the axes away, the little girl approached Aliyana and Kritch. Gently clapping her little hands, the girl called for silence and attention as she walked in between them. The look on her face, however, was nothing short of dreamy. Not dreamy as in beautiful, but rather... Anya seemed to have her head stuck up in the clouds.

"Now, now.." she slowly spoke. "There is no need to argue now. None, not at all. Indeed. We're quite sure that we will get along just fine and enjoy the feast. However, we need another guest before we can begin. We have the axe, the knife and the ship, but we also need the speaker. The manipulator. The hand that raises. We wonder, however, where we can find him?"

Alessio growled softly to himself as he listened, not liking the exchange one bit. The Skaven was doing badly and was risking himself and much more, more than he knew. I'll have to help him out, thought Alessio with a bestial frown. It was a shame really, for Alessio was enjoying watching the pirate queen (if she deserved the title) pick him apart piece by piece. No love was lost between Eshin Assassins and they owed each other nothing. Alessio reminded himself of this fact many times over as he silently crawled around the edge of the hull to the rear of the ship, from which he had a clear view of a number of the sentries on the other boat.
One man was unwatched by his fellows nearby, and was looking away from the main event, obviously bored. Alessio grinned to himself as he secured his feet in place by looping a hanging strand of rope around them, then let himself hang upside down on the hull of the boat. Alessio was unconcerned about his gear, as it was attached to him with several harnesses, which kept his gear from falling as he ran or climbed. His paws disappeared under one of the many folds in his robes, and a dulled metal tube appeared from under the robes and four sharp darts.
The Chaos girl had started talking, but it was meaningless to Alessio, as he saw another manthings walk up to the first and look out over the boat sea. One dart went in the blow pipe, the others got jammed in between Alessio's jaws to the side, read for the next shots.
He aimed breifly, then with one puff sent the dart flying across the water into one mans neck. As he collapsed on the side of the boat coughing heavily, with his fellow looking over him in a concerned manner, Alessio loaded the next dart with a twist of his head. The second man fell a moment after the first and pitched over the railings, as a third made a jump for him. Alessio shot him in the eye. There was a shout on deck and the men scattered for cover as a fourth man fell, diving bellow the cover of the side panels.
"Lustrians!" shouted one man as he hit the floor. "On the shore! Dozens of them!" Alessio grinned slightly as he pulled himself back up and undid the rope. Manthings are stupid, he thought as he gripped the hull. He opened his jaws partway and uttered a high pitched, chattering call, to warn his fellow Skaven to escape. The sound was to high for humans to hear, but he was unsure of the Chaosthings. They were a tricky bunch.
