Default Final Fantasy X: A New Journey

The sun slowly crept over the horizon, the first shimmering of light hitting Besaid just perfectly as the hundreds of sea shells and various sand gems on the beach suddenly burst forth a dazzling array of multicolored majestic fireworks into the sky, the air above the village seeming to have its own Aurora Borealis. A single bird began to chirp as dawn awoke the people for a brand new day. Then another, and another, until the air was filled with just the right amount of bird chatter. A small gust of wind traveled through the village, and the randomly placed wind chimes and instruments gave a soft melody of various notes and percussion hits, a sort of wake up call for the villagers.

Another day in paradise.

A young man watched all of this from his current standing position at the front of a cargo boat, en route to the village. His face held no expression, his grey eyes lost deep in thought as the wind blew softly through his white and black hair, the occasional braid twitching to the side. He flexed his arm for a moment as he heard the horn blare atop the boat, a signal that they were about to make landfall.

As the ship finally docked and the workers began to move their supplies to and fro, Vahnec stepped forward from his spot and down the ramp to the village. His outfit was nowhere near being considered normal compared to the workers he passed by. A white hooded cloak with black designs etched in certain areas, with white lining to which each side could clasp together, the outfit was sleeveless. Where his arms protruded though were only leather gauntlets, his right gauntlet being covered with metal, a large circle open upon it for something to be attached. At his hip was a large bottle, specifically designed for Sake, and at his back were two daggers, a relic of Sir Auron from the old days, remade for a modern generation. In his left hand was the rope of a large bag, nothing more than hundreds of black leather belts and buckles, holding all of his clothes and supplies in one place, flung over his shoulder.

He continued his small walk down the docks until he reached the beach, seeing no one around, the town seemingly empty. His pace grew slower as he reached the center of town, the birds seeming to hush their sweet melody. He didn't dare breathe as he looked around, growing anxious from the lack of people. Had something gone wrong? Was there some sort of beast to fell in the region?

All of a sudden, it seemed that everyone in the village was awake, walking around him. Immediately Vahnec grew claustrophobic, tensing up, unsure of what to do. He stood there for a moment as a small puppy ran up to him, barking playfully. Sensing he wasn't going to move, it stopped for a moment as it sniffed at his boot, lifting up its leg and relieving itself before slipping back through the crowd, most likely to rejoin with its master once more.

After a minute of this, the crowd dissipated as most of the people headed to the docks to greet the newcomers, another boat about to dock, this one solely for passengers. Breathing a sigh of relief, Fenris looked about a few times. He was here to find the first steps that would lead him eventually in the shoes of Auron. To make him a better person, to show him how to be a real warrior, and even more importantly, a real guardian. Nothing of which he cared about. He was here to get this done with, to be over with it. And so, he began his search to where it all began.

A beautiful day in Besaid, with the hot sun shining, a slight breeze that made the hot day just bearable. While the Cargo ship was unloading it's passengers and loading crates of Besaid hand woven Rugs, always in demand all over spira since during sin. But more so when the ex-summoner Yuna was known to live there.

Everyone was going about their business, not noticing a large white Airship approaching. With the symbol of New Yevon on it's sides, the pure white ship shined as the sun's rays touched it, giving it a majestic look. It was the flag ship of All Airships, found near the original Airship that Cid found a few years ago.

The wind started to pick up suddenly as the ship quickly came to a hover just above the water, to keep from kicking the sand up in peoples faces. The landing gear appeared smoothly and silently, slowly dipping into the water till it touched the submerged sand.

Some people, with nothing to do at the moment, converged in a large group, wondering why it was here. They soon found out, the bottom hatch opened and a small platform slowly slid down so it touched the sand just beyond the touches of the clear blue water.

Two figures walked down and greeted the crowd. The woman, who, despite her position in New Yevon, kept to wearing her black clothes as she did when she flew around sphere hunting with Yuna and Rikku.

Paine thanked the people who welcomed them and slowly worked her way through the crowd. Sighing, she always hated crowds, but she had to be...'nicer' than what she used to be because of her husband.

The young man who closely resembled her with his hair and dark clothing, was her son, Gippal. Tall and handsome like his his father, with red eyes like hers, and spirit to travel like her.

They made their way towards Besaid village to meet their lifelong friends. Gippal silent of course, as he always was. Just like his mother.

"Are you sure you don't want to come back with the Airship?" Paine asked her son for the hundredth time."

He only shook his head and said "Stop worrying mother, for once I want to try traveling on a ship. I'll be fine."

Paine smiled and said, "Well as I told you, it's not that fun.... takes for ever."

Gippal didn't say anything more. Sometimes it was better to go with the silent approach. His mother rarely ever gave up in any fight.

It seemed like the distant hum and always in tune music never ceased in the temple. Sitting there, silently, letting it flow through her very being, Nyx had easily gotten used to drowning it out, however lovely it seemed to be. She would have been on the shore, but to her second cousin's bidding, she came to the temple. Reflection, silence, a time to gather her thoughts, which as of late were quite a few. She enjoyed her time in Besaid, but wanted to be somewhere where she wasn't recognized, somewhere where people wouldn't be stopping her and asking for her autograph or striking up a conversation, or, as she was starting to hate, trying to strike up a lot more.

But where could she go that no one would recognize her?

"The bottom of the Moonflow?" she smirked to herself, her eyes closed as she sat cross legged near a great statue, one of a being long since passed. The smirk faded as she heard some sort of bustle outside, a sigh escaping her lips as she opened her eyes. Eyes so graciously touched with the unique Al Bhed swirl, a glittering forest green. Uncrossing her legs and standing, she grabbed her sword, a large weapon fashioned after Paine's, the blade black and the lower part of it a contrasting white. The hilt was a simple dark green with a giant golden spade design going from the tip of it onto the blade, glittering in the fiery light of the dimly lit temple. Putting her sword on her back in its secure sheath, she smoothed out the fabric of her outfit, looking down to see her belt nearly falling further off her hips than she liked. She sighed in slight frustration, unbuckling it then re-buckling it on the next hole over. She really shouldn't have skipped out on breakfast. Making sure the rest of the straps to her outfit were in order, she checked her hair, happy to see the beautiful golden strands were all in place in their usual wacky style, taken of course from her mother's taste.

She ignored the sounds of her footfalls, loud ones caused by the great echo in the room that amplified the sound of her boots, heading towards the outside.
Unaware that the sun had already come out, she held her arm out in front of her face, shielding her eyes as they took a moment to adjust. More movement than usual was over near the docks, so she safely assumed that someone must have been arriving. The people of Besaid always got a little...worked up...when it came to visitors. Her entrance the week prior had drawn what seemed like the entire village.

Nyx yawned and stretched out her arms, her coruscating eyes now well adjusted to the dawn's arrival.

The morning sun slowly crept over the window, illuminating a room, a room of a teenager by the looks of it. The walls were littered with various Blitz Ball posters and such, various miscellaneous object laying around on the ground, in particular, clothes. A Blitz ball sat on the floor next to a bed, a hand caressing its form.

A faint snore came from the arms owner, covered with a sheet over half of his back, his head sandwiched between two pillows. The sun light crept up higher and higher into the room until it hit a mirror, which reflected the light right back at the boys face, not entirely hidden underneath the pillow. Locks of blond hair fell infront of his face, covering his eyes from being seen what so ever.

The small room was soon engulfed in the suns light, bouncing off of glass here and there.

"ugh.... please tell...." he snored, "me we don't have..." and again, "to go to aunt..." ...and again, "Rikku's this time..." Jecht was sleep talking, reliving a conversation he had with his mother. He took a straggly breath, "good... that desert blows..." He took another breath and stopped talking, light footsteps could be heard, two pairs of them.

Tidus and Yuna appeared at the halfway open door, Tidus wrapping his arms around Yunas waist and putting his chin next to her head as they watched their offspring mumble in his sleep.

"If I remember right... I did that a few times too..." Tidus mumbled lightly, giving a faint grin. "Yes... You did." Yuna answered, leaning her head against his chest with a smile on her face.

Jecht churned slightly in his bed, his right leg coming over his left, going a little too far and off the side of the bed. "Where's my..." He said before he completely flipped off the bed, landing face first on the tiled floor. Tidus covered up his face to conceal a laugh, and Yuna smacked him as they turned and lightly hopped back into the main room of their house.

"Did you get the other rooms ready...?" Yuna asked, looking at Tidus with a curious face. "Yes dear." He said in a playfully voice, sitting down in a chair. The house was donated to Yuna and Tidus by the people of Besaid, it was probably the biggest house there at this point. 6 different rooms were in different places in the house, not very big but not small either, one of these rooms belonged to Yuna and Tidus, the other to Jecht. "Did you even ask them if they wanted to stay with us while they were here...?" Tidus asked, picking up his oldest blitz ball, spinning it on his right finger. "No, I'll ask them when we see them later today. I'm not even sure how long they are staying infact... They never really mentioned it." She took a seat next to Tidus, looking at a collection of spheres which she kept from her journeys with Paine and Rikku.

Jecht jumped up after he realized he had fallen off of his bed, shaking his head before whipping the sleep from his eyes. He groaned a little and then pulled himself up to the edge of his bed, sitting there as he tried to find some energy. As soon as he regained his composure, he pulled on a pair of shorts and walked into the room Tidus and Yuna were in. "Morning..." He said, still whipping his eyes. "Morning Hun." Yuna smiled at her son, using the same light voice she always used in the mornings.

"Go put a shirt on... we're about to have some company." Tidus said with a sarcastic voice, smiling faintly, "I don't think anyone wants to see that." Tidus leaned back in his chair and bounced the ball a couple of times. "Shut up..." Jecht retorted with a sleepy voice, turning around and walking into his room, grabbing a yellow shirt off a shelf in his room.

Mornings were almost always like this, they would eat a light breakfast and sit around for a while.

"Their boats should be here by now..." Yuna said with a trace of excitement, having changed into new clothes which faintly resembled her summoner robes from years before. "Lets go see the family!" Yuna exclaimed, both Jecht and Tidus standing up at almost the same times and walked out the door, Tidus and Yuna hand in hand, Jecht standing next to his father. On their way out, Jecht grabbed his sword, holding the hilt so the blade faced behind him as he walked. The aquatic blue glinted with the sun, making the ground around it turn an Aquarius blue color.

Jechts eyes wandered from the people around them, then he spotted Nyx as they approached the temple, the place where they were all supposed to meet. Yuna greeted her first, "Hi Nyx! Where's your mother at...?" she questioned. Tidus smacked Jecht on his back, making him stumble forward slightly on the steps, "Liven up..." Tidus mumbled, a humorous tone to his voice. Jecht just wasn't a morning person...

Gippal sighed, he was about to see all his friends again, after a year of being away. As they neared the small village, Gippal turned to his mother and said softly, "I am going to go look around... You can go on ahead to see Aunt Yuna. I'll catch up."

Paine nodded her head, "Alright.... But you better not disappear like you did last time, you nearly gave your father and I a heart attack. If you do it again, I'll kill you."

Gippal gave a rare smile, "Thanks mom, I feel so loved." He turned towards the temple, a quick and easy way to get away from his mother, and besides, Jecht was always there for some reason.

Running a hand through his white hair, and stopping for a moment to take in the sight. His red scanned the village, he always loved coming here. It was always so fresh, so un-modern from Bevelle. One of the few places that remained somewhat the same after Sin was defeated. Which brought back memories of when Jecht and himself would play as "guardians" for Nyx and Aurora.

He placed his left hand casually on his sword, which used to be his mothers when she flew around Spria looking for Spheres. Playing as "guardians" influenced his fighting greatly, always thinking it would be awesome to devote his life to protecting a close friend.

He flapped his black coat a few times, his ideal dress didn't go well with the humid weather in Besaid, but he didn't have a place to leave his Jacket at the moment, and he didn't want to carry it around, so he left it on. The rest of his outfit was black as well, safe for his shirt, which was the only white thing on him except if you counted his hair.

He continued his walk towards the old temple, at least it would be cool inside, the large stone building was always cool in the tropical heat, no matter how hot it was.

His head was on a constant swivel, searching for his long missed friends, Surely they didn't know when he would be arriving....He never told them. He then noticed a very cute girl near the temple. He didn't have to see her face, only her hair and style as she dressed. He smiled and was about to call out her name when he saw Tidus, Yuna and Jecht meeting with her. PERFECT.

Stopping, he leaned against a house just with in hearing distance, but he waited. He didn't like saying hi right when everyone else was saying hi.

A single beam of sunlight broke the thick darkness, shadows of the mess within turned from faint silhouettes to objects with shape and texture, boxes, various machina parts, an open tool box, the contents of which were scattered across the floor. Dust and the smell of grease hung thick in the air, a low, disapproving growl sounded from the entrance as black claws curled about the edge of the door and flung it open. A loud, girlish cry erupted from within, the sheets thrown across a mattress moved suddenly before settling over a slender, huddled body. The low, rumbling growl sounded once more, this time it was accompanied with a roll of the eyes, next came the all too familiar sound of heavy footsteps approaching the bed. A second later and the sheets were ripped away, revealing the girl beneath.

Her hair was a tangled mess of ebony locks, course that was hardly a strange sight, she wore nothing but a pair of black underwear and a black tank top, her face hidden away within the soft, plush belly of a toy Moogle and her arms wrapped tightly about the small, furry body.

Slowly, she opened one eye and peeked up at the Ronso towering over her, he was a beast, at least seven feet tall, perhaps eight with a grand black horn atop his head. His blue fur gave off a sheen in the sparing light that flooded her room and his hair which was light brown was bound at th back of his neck, the longer sections about is ears were bound into plaits and he dressed in simple coverings, a leather vest and some form of pants that shed never looked too closely at.

Fern? her voice was croaked and tired, What time is it? it took her a few moments to piece the words together, though fluent in the tongue of the humans in such a state she often reverted back to Al Bhed, unfortunately Fern did not understand the language and she hated to repeat herself.

The Ronso did not speak, she should have expected as much, after allit had been how many years since hed last uttered a word? Three? Strong and silent, she respected that about him. Instead, he turned to the curtains and flung them open with not so much as a straying glance to the girls shapely, exposed legs as she sat up, bleary eyed with one hand in her hair. Dawns light and the fresh smell of the sea flooded the room, she shunned from it as if it were some horrific befoulment, blinking several times in order to adjust her eyes to the light. With a low groan, Rae finally stood from her sheets, the arm of her Moogle grasped in one hand with her other still combing through her dark hair.

Alright, I get the picture, Ill be right out that was all Fern needed to hear. With that, he turned from her room, closed the door behind him and contented to stand by the door for the next few minutes until Rae stepped out, dressedfor the most part. Her hair was up, tied in a bind with but a few stray braids free to tickle the tops of her shoulders and green feathers hanging about her ears, that was a sign she was ready to face the day. She dressed in a black bikini top, haltered and tied about her neck, the sides of her bottoms could be seen on the sides of her hips beneath a rather short tattered denim skirt. She was an attractive girl, slender and pretty with exotic dark features in contrast to most blonde Al Bhed with but a hint of mystery and danger to her, as represented by the dagger strapped to her left thigh.

She yawned loudly as she stepped out and cast Fern a sore look, he ignored it and led the way down the hall, Rae followed in his great steps across the grated iron, a roll of black tape held in her hand and as they walked she peeled off strips and began to wrap them about each of her knuckles and wrist. They reached the end of the hall where a heavy iron door blocked the way to the deck, with but a push of a button the sound of mechanics whirred to life and with a hiss of steam the door lifted to expose a handful of Al Bhed enjoying breakfast while overlooking the blissful scene of sunrise over the Ilse of Besaid. Rae was more concerned with the harsh sunlight, she groaned and shielded her eyes from it while muttering a few choice words under her breath in her native tongue, shed spent all yesterday in her room, tinkering and toying, natural light was a factor she didnt often consider when it came to work.

Another day, another piece of wreckage, she sighed as she snapped a piece of tape from the roll with her teeth and bound it about her wrist. She walked forwards to survey what had been prepared for breakfast no luck, it was all gone. She raised one fine brow and glanced to each member of her crew, in turn they all avoided her gaze, Rae merely shrugged and turned to the railing that bordered the deck, beneath them the ocean swirled and rippled, as clear as crystal yet as deep as the night sky. She glanced over her shoulder to Fern and tossed him the roll of tape, the Ronso caught it without a second though, his face completely expressionless.

Guess Ill have to catch my own breakfast this morning, she laughed as she slid out of her skirt, kicked it to the middle of the deck and leapt over the railings, crashing with a great splash into the cool depths of the sea.

As the awkwardness of being in a crowd passed (As well as the crowd), Vahnec gave a large sigh of relief, beginning to hurry to the temple. That would be the smartest place to start, because the priests inside would have to know, they being well along in years. They would be the ones most likely to remember the events of the FInal Pilgrimage, especially seeing as this was where Lady Yuna had started. He began his ascension of the stairs with relative ease, giving an extra bit of hop to them as he went. He felt good, h felt alive. The village was alive with the sounds of children laughing in the distance, the birds chirping. He was feeling upbeat, energetic. Something he wasn't exactly used to in foreign areas.

He approached the doors of the temple, and slowly opened them with both hands, his shadow casting on the ground all the way down the hall. The followers meditating paid no attention to him as he walked quietly forward past the men and women cross legged with their eyes closed. That was fine with him, he didn't like being seen half of the time. Something about all of the eyes focusing on him made him uneasy.

At the front of the room he saw the man he was looking for, the lead priest. He gave a warm smile to him as he approached, giving the standard bow to the man as he spoke softly, quietly as to not disturb those steadfast in prayer.

"I am sorry to disturb you, sir. I'm here with a very strange request. Do you think you could give me information on the Final Pilgrimage to defeat Sin?"

The priest looked up from his writings, studying the face of the young man before him. He was serious, but at the same time he was innocent. What he wanted was not going to be used for any wrong doings, it seemed. With a nod, the priest removed his glasses, rubbing his eyes.

"I do believe I can help you in the slightest bit. Follow me into the back chambers."

And with that, both of them were gone from the crowd.

Vahnec returned a few minutes later with a look of satisfaction upon his face. He had been given a quick layout as of the journey they had taken. He would leave for Kilika as soon as he possibly could, and from there gather more information. Apparently Yuna first stopped here to gather the great Aeon, Valefor. After she had done so there was a huge feast that night, and a farewell at the docks as she began her pilgrimage. From there he would travel to Kilika, then to Luca, where he would finally catch the bloodtrail of Auron. That was great, leaving him relatively a limited amount of time before he would have without researching up on Sir Auron.

As he stepped out of the back rooms into the front, the people were just finishing their meditation time. Deciding now was a good time to head out, Vahnec began to push through the crowd, looking for the exit. Sadly, the crowd was too large and he soon lost his way. Stopping for a moment, he collected his thoughts as he figured out his best option to getting out of here. In the end he decide to face his fears, following the crowd as he shuffled his feet slowly, letting the current of men and women take him to his destination of the outdoors.

"Mom?" Nyx rubbed the back of her neck, her high pitched voice suddenly serving as an exact opposite to her warrior attire, showing that she was indeed the daughter of Rikku. She glanced from Tidus to Jecht, giggling lightly "She's back in the desert with Pop, you know, treasure searching." she shrugged the slightest bit as she spoke "She wanted me to tell you that she's sorry she was unable to come and all that junk." she started to dig in one of the pouches on her belt, closing one eye as she concentrated carefully "She also wanted me to give you this sph-OH!" Both of her eyes opened and she suddenly drew out her hand, snapping her half gloved fingers "Its back in the temple! Hold on just a sec!" she quickly turned, the long strips of fabric from her outfit flowing behind her as her hurried footfalls echoed before fading into the darkness of the great building.

Running into the black, she was suddenly finding herself running into something...or someone rather. She picked up the scent of Sake on him just slightly as the two began to fall downwards, her on top of him.
"So ryen!! [1]" she squeaked in the Al Bhed tongue, putting her hands on her head quite hurriedly, causing her to elbow the poor man in the chest as she tried to keep the beautiful golden strands of hair and array of pins in perfect order.

"Oh... Ok." Yuna said as Nyx jumped up and ran off into the temple, raising her hand up to her chin slightly as if she was thinking. Jecht walked over to a statue on a pedestal, sitting down and laying his sword down next to him as he leaned up against the monstrous structure. "Same old Nyx, just an exact copy of her mom." Tidus smirked, shaking his head as he reminisced about the first time he met Rikku, the night that Sin nearly killed them all if it would have had its way.

Tidus walked over and put his arm over Yuna's shoulder, and in response, she put hers around his waist. "How long is it going to take for everyone to get here...?" Jecht asked, his blue and green eyes blinking as he looked up at his parents, his blond hair falling away from his forehead.

"Not much longer dear..." Yuna reassured him with a smile, she knew Jecht was one of the most restless kids out of the group, not really able to keep still unless he was asleep or eating. Jechts eyes soon wandered to the statue he was leaning against, the monster looked similar to a giant bird with a long neck, something he had seen hundreds of times. "Mom... this one was... Vaelfore right...?" Jecht took his eyes from the giant rock too look at his mom and dad, both of which who nodded.

Tidus and Yuna both looked at each other and smiled, thinking about the exact same thing, the first time they had met. Tidus had just ran into the cloister of trials without even thinking about what would happen, he could have been executed easily if something would have went wrong while he was gallivanting around in there.

They sat there watching people come and go as they waited for the others to show up, Jecht had no clue Gippal and Fenris were even there at this point. He wasn't exactly the most observant person on Spira.

Gippal waited patiently, leaning against the house near the temple as he watched Nyx speak to Aunt Yuna, Uncle Tidus, and Jecht. Nyx then ran back into the temple to get a sphere she left inside, only to hear her scream "My hair!" In Al Bhed. He could understand it fairly easily, spending many days with Nyx and Aunt Rikku as they taught him, so he wouldn't be lost as he visited them. He shook his head, there was Nyx for you, clumsy but always worried about her hair. He thought of going to see what damage she did this time, but something told him to wait a bit more.

Suddenly a Guado appeared next to him, talking to himself, prepping himself to speak to Yuna. He shook his head again, he was probably his age, and freaked out... I mean, it's just Aunt Yuna.

He sighed, seeing how the Guado took his entrance, he turned and walked towards Aurora's house. Perhaps she was there....doing what ever she did. He reached her house and knocked on the door as he walked in. About three years ago, Wakka and Lulu had told him their house is his house, and he could walk in any time he liked. Well he still had to be polite...he was gone for a year.

(Figured I'd go and talk to someone else, seeing how everyone is attacking the temple. )
