Default Freedom, what a joke!

((First Advanced RP, don't hit me, please!))

The Plot

Slavery. The most depraved trade of them all, it's legal in this world and there's no action to stop it, sure, there are other trades, jewels, alcohol, everything you could imagine can be bought, but slavery is the most profitable, there are slaves for everything, from teaching children and sewing to driving horse drawn carts and tending farms and when a person can't pay their bills, their taken from their house, their family with them, they're split up and taken across oceans and land and then they're put to work doing whatever their masters want.

They don't care what happens to the slaves, were one to be raped and become pregnant they would but have another slave after nine months and the world would continue as if nothing had happened. Their spirits are broken and some have gone mad, but nobody cares, they are still used just the same. They have tattoos on their faces and bodies to show who owns them, the coat of arms of a family printed upon the flesh of a slave simply means that family owns them.

To those that traffic in the trade they are but items and objects, useful to a degree, but otherwise nothing but wastes of space. And this is their story.

OOC

Well, here we go again! Another Asbestos roleplay! Now, with this roleplay, we'll be taking the positions of anyone. That's right. Anyone you like!

You can be a slave, a slave-trader, someone who hates slavery, the head of a rich family, a pirate captain with her mind set on only serving herself, a manipulative daughter, a cast out son, an old man, a quick-minded thief, a baker, a butcher, a candlestick maker (Hahaha, no, but seriously, you could be), a slow-thinking brute, an angry innkeeper, anyone at all!

Well, this roleplay will be based around the daily lives of whoever we decide to play as, I plan for the slaves to eventually take back their freedom by force with the help of anyone who cares for them, but that will have to depend on your actions, after all, they would have to unify and such to do so. But let's not get too far ahead of ourselves, eh?

__________________________________________________ ______________
The world.

We'll start in the large port town of Adofaer on the continent of Aethen, the great northern port, famous for its jewels and assorted strange magical items, these include, but are, of course, not limited to; flowers that never wilt, blades that never dull and amazingly beautiful perfumes, to the south of here, in the middle of the ocean we have a scattering of isles that must be traversed by any trying to head to the other continents, these are known as the Fairy Islands, they're far from fairy-like though, as they tend to attract pirates and serpents and other such monstrosities that plague the seas.

To the South-East of the Fairy Islands we have Eska, another large continent, covered in port towns, just like Aethen, but the main port town here is known as Haera, it is renowned for its fine alcohols, healing drugs and silks.

To the West of the Fairy Islands is yet another large continent, this one smaller than the others but in no way less grand, this land is known as Kerdrim, the main port of this continent is known as Lataeu, they are famous for their amazing foods, good slaves and the quantity of fish that live in their waters.

A few rules

Well, the time has come to lay down the rules, here they come;

1. No powergamin' an' nay god-modin' neither.

2. If you've got another character's permission to do something, for example, auto hit or such, make sure you note it at the bottom of the post.

3. Post your character sheets in the OOC and wait for them to be approved by myself.

4. Try not to be difficult, if I ask you to change something it's because you've done something I'm not going to allow, thank you.

5. Have some fun, after all, that's what we're all here for!

6. While this is a fantasy roleplay, I will not tolerate magic abilities other than, perhaps, the slight healing spell or snapping your fingers to light a fire, or mixing the sugar into your tea with light telekinesis, this is not a magic heavy world, sorry mages.

7. You may control many characters, a whole family, a two person group, but I think I'll put the limit on no. of characters at five.

8. If, at the start of each post, or between changing characters, you could note, in bold text, the island you're on and the place you're at, it'd be great, thanks. E.g;

"Lataeu, Kerdrim, Serpent's Breath Tavern,
-----------------------
[Roleplay goes here]"

Wind blew through long, silky black hair. Topaz eyes glanced around at the people on the streets below. Humans... The girl thought to herself. She was dressed in black ninja attire. Her skinny arms were covered all the way down to the fingertips, which poked through so she could grip her weapons better. Her chest and torso were also covered in a black material. The outfit was tight enough to show off her 'curves' as they were called. Her legs were covered down to the ankle and she didnt wear shoes. The sunlight above was bright, but her feet didnt burn. You see, this ninja was a vampire. Only a hundred years of age, but still, a vampire. Most would think the sun would hurt her, but it didnt. Her fair skin was sensitive, but not that sensitive.

Sitting on her right shoulder was a small demon. He had long silver hair that flowed down his back in waves. From a top his head came long, narrow demon horns. Jutting from his shoulder blades came an angel wing and a devil wing. No one is sure why Abel is like that, but he was. He was the only of his kind that way. He was dressed in a royal prince-like outfit. It was also black to match Eden's attire. A sigh escaped the small demon. "Why are we here Eden?" He asked the vampire he was forced to watch.

"We're here because I want to be here." Her voice was like silk. It just drew people to her. That was one way she captured her prey. Prey was such an awful word to use for the humans below, at least she thought so. Eden usually called them 'guests of honor.' Of course, being one of them meant never returning home. Eden always chose single humans with no family, usually slaves for her meals so no one would miss them right away. Abel's piercing blue eyes glared into Eden's. They were turning slightly red. "When was the last time you fed?"

"Almost two months ago..." The female knew that Abel would make her hunt once night fell. She liked the idea of the hunt, but the 'guests of honor' around here just didnt ever suit her taste. From her position on the rooftop of a building, she began to look for a 'guest' to entertain for the night.

Cancia sat down behind a large crate in the alley. She had never meant to kill anyone, it just kind of happened... Now she was a murderer, they were looking for her. A few weeks ago she was just, herself, just a pretty little fairy from her island, but she had gone from there to become a pirate, a stow away, a slave, and now a murderer. The world off the island, was less pleasant.

"Down this alley! the others are coming in the opposite side!" a voice from behind the crate. Cancia stood up, looked around, a dozen armed men walking down the alley for her. She'd been running all night, all morning, they were still after her. She started down the alley in the other direction, a dozen men met her there, closing in. She backed up.
"We've got you now, just surrender now before you get yourself killed."

"Free flowing water, clouds as black of your soul only give me strength, the flood will break through your barriers, you cannot restrain me!" Cancia looked to them, they seemed to ignore her. "Lunatic" one muttered. She really needed to work on her English, it never seemed to well understood.

One jumped in swinging a sword at her. She jumped over the blade, pulling a dagger out, slamming it into his chest, another from the other side lunged forward, the dagger went out slicing through his throat before his blade reached her.

"Blood to your ankles? Knees? or shall we all just drown in it. Stop this now!" she yelled, stepping back, turning in circles, looking at the now frightened mercenaries. Three dead now, she'd killed three people. Was her life worth that much, was it up to her to let them strike her down.

"You stop this!" one of them screamed, she looked up, an arrow pointed at her chest. She put her hands in the air, still holding the daggers. Was this it? was she going to die now? No, she had to do something... but, behind her there was another man with a bow. She was trapped.

Rash'yeth groaned as the horse drawn cart hit a bump in the road, effectively jolting his newest bruise which stood out on his gut like a flag with the words 'kick me here' printed on it, he flicked the reins slightly, willing the horses to go faster, they needed to arrive at the Trader's Concourse for the monthly meeting before his master decided he was bored, it had only been about ten minutes since they had left the man's huge mansion and already Rash'yeth could hear him in the cabin, shifting restlessly. The cruel bastard had never been kind to any of the slaves, but then, what kindness had they deserved in the first place? Had it not been them who had taken that fate upon themselves? No, that wasn't true, but that was how their masters saw it. He let out a soft sigh as the horses pulled the cart along the cobblestone roads, he kept his eyes lowered and his shoulders hunched forward, he had learned the hard way that a proud slave was a dead slave and a dead slave was an angry master and an angry master meant more beatings, which eventually meant another dead slave, the cycle would repeat as it always had and always would, unless the slaves had anything to say about it, which they wouldn't.

"Slave! Faster or there'll be no table scraps for you!" he heard his master bellow from inside the cart, he lowered his head some more, giving the reigns another quick flick, they picked up speed slightly, but not enough, he knew he wouldn't have any food tonight, it was always that way, never any food for the slaves until they were starving, "I said speed up, not slow down, Slave, you're having a beating when we arrive," his master yelled from the cart, Rash'yeth flinched at the mention of a beating, it was a reflexive reaction, most slaves flinched when they heard mention of a beating in store for them, Rash'yeth let out a soft groan and rubbed his belly where there was already a large bruise, "Bastard, maybe we'd go faster if you treated the horses better," he mumbled quietly under his breath, not quiet enough it seemed as his master retaliated with, "Boy, you've just earned yourself a week of beatings and starvation," the man laughed as he said this, as if it gave him some form of sick, twisted amusement.

The cart came to a stop outside the Trader's Hall, where they would gather and discuss whatever needed to be discussed, Rash'yeth jumped down from the driver's seat and moved to the door, pulling it open and cringing back from the man inside with one motion, his owner jumped out and looked down at him angrily, Rash'yeth averted his eyes, looking to the ground, his head hung low, then pain wracked his body as a large fist connected with his belly, then came the second blow, a punch to the cheek, he stumbled back, landing next to one of the cart's wheels, "Get up!" he heard his master growl, he complied, he stood in front of his owner, waiting for the next blow, it came soon enough - a heavy blow to the nose, then a knee planted in his chest, he tumbled backwards, landing face down on the cobblestone road, he groaned, but nobody came to his aid, nobody seemed to care, in truth nobody cared at all, he tried to push himself up, but a foot landed rather suddenly in his chest, the force of the blow rolled him onto his back, "Now boy, you're not going to displease me any more, are you?" his master laughed, Rash'yeth only nodded, even that brought pain to his body, "Good, close the door and wait here," without another word his master was gone.

Slowly, Rash'yeth dragged himself to his feet, he heard the words of passing traders and their children, they sneered and laughed at what had been done to him, nobody came to help, nobody wanted to be seen helping a slave, doing that was treason. He coughed up a mouthful of foul-tasting saliva mixed with blood as he closed the door, eventually he managed to climb back up into the driver's seat of the horse-drawn cart, he sat there for a moment, not even considering running away, he would just die if he did that, he wiped his nose on his sleeve, it was bleeding badly enough, but that didn't make a difference, it had done that before and this certainly wouldn't be the last time, slowly Rash'yeth closed his eyes and simply waited, listening to the snorts and impatient movements of the horses.

Topaz eyes still continued to grow more red by the second. Fangs inside the vampiress's mouth began to lengthen slightly. Her fingers twitched slightly and she had to shake her head, causing her long locks of black silk hair to move slightly. "I need to feed soon...before I kill for no reason." Eden whispered to Abel. He just sighed a long sigh as she still looked around.

"I see something." He said softly. There was a male slave sitting on a horse-drawn cart. Hungry eyes stared down at the boy. "He doesnt seem like he is healthy enough...." She licked her lips and her fangs softly. She had to feed soon. With that knowledge, Eden walked to the back of the building. There was an alley behind the building. Standing on the edge, Eden carefully let herself fall of the back of the building.

Landing on her feet, the vampiress left the alley and she walked into the streets. A few people looked at her with fear. One lady and her son walked over to a guard and pointed her out. The big male guard walked over to Eden. "Ma'm, do you live here?"
"I'm visiting." Eden spoke softly to the guard. She looked into his eyes and hoped that she could transfix him with her beauty, but it didnt work. The guard looked her over carefully. He couldnt see Abel because his brain wouldn't allow him to register the small demon on her shoulder. "I'm going to have to escort you out of the city." The guard grabbed her arm. Wrong move. A hungry vampire wasnt the nicest thing on the planet.

Eden was swift with her moves. A dagger seemed to just appear in her hand from no where. She stepped into the guard, stabbing him right in the chest. She could smell the blood. "Come with me." She manipulated the guard to walk with her until they were in an alley. Thats when the vampiress fed quietly and swiftly on her prey. He was dead within seconds of her taking her dagger out of him, but his blood was still good.

Wiping her lips of his blood, she let Abel have what he needed off of the shoulder. The pair then left the alley to find somewhere new to stay and enjoy for a while. Her eyes were a brilliant topaz now. As she walked, people kept turning to look back at her, but she ignored them all. Eden wasnt interested in humans in a sexual sort of way. Soon she was by the human slave with the horse-drawn cart. She stopped to look up at him. If she wasnt such a nomad, she knew that she would treat the boy better.

Rash'yeth had been imagining a time when he could be the master and everyone else his slave, let them see how it felt and they could do all the work for once while he sat back and ate entire plates of foods, not scraps, but entire platefuls. A small smile crept across his face as he sat there, believing for a moment that he was the one giving the beatings. And then his imaginings shattered, he had heard something. Footsteps, that's what it was, was the Trader back already?

He cringed back from the sounds, moving across on the seat, he waited for a "What are you smiling at?" or a, "Stop smirking, you little bastard," His eyes snapped open and he glanced at where the footsteps had stopped, keeping his eyes to the ground, he saw something that at first confused him, but then scared him, a woman stood there, looking at him, "I've been sold?" he asked quietly, as if afraid to speak any louder, he glanced up at the woman's face, she looked like a rather unforgiving master to him, he had heard that women could be worse than men as masters, but he hadn't a clue they could be this intimidating. He looked back to the ground, "I'm to be branded now, yes?" he whispered, wondering just which family this woman came from and what coat of arms would be branded onto him next.

((A little short for my liking, but I ran out of inspiration near the end there))

"Drop the daggers little girl."

Cancia looked back and forth, cornered in between 20 men, all armed. She wasn't going to surrender. They would torture her, maybe kill her, but maybe make her a slave again. She wasn't designed for other people's pleasure, she was her own person. She was going to escape now or die trying.

"You've got three seconds miss. 1...2...3..."
Cancia put her daggers back down, ready to strike. "I'm gone," she threw herself flat against the wall, a trail of blue magic dust behind her, one of the arrows flew, missing, nearly hitting the men on the opposite side.

"Get her!" one of them screamed, as they all rushed forward on top of her. Cancia could hardly tell what was going on, she saw blades coming at her, tried to dodge them, stick her daggers into whatever was closest. There was screaming, yelling, a sword put a small cut in her side, then, a sharp pain in the back of her head, everything went black.

...
"Is she dead?"
"No, just knocked out,"
"Good, they'll probably make her wish she was dead."
The men bound her feet and hands, one threw the her over his shoulder, and the men walked off towards the City Guard station to turn her in, collect their reward. The people walking along the street stopped, looked at the unconscious girl that the man was carrying, no one really thought anything of it, nothing that unusual really.

Drac'tror had been walking along the street quietly as was usual for him his bluish complexion setting him apart from the crowd. He could hear whispers around him as people pointed to him.
"Look it's.. It's him, the dragon man" he heard one child say in particular. He smiled to himself at this. What had he done that made him so popular, he simply done his job of holding justice. Walking past a darkened ally he noticed a number of soldiers beating up what appeared to be a child his goggles were firmly down over his eyes. He walked towards them as they were walking down the street the child was obviously unconscious at this point. He sighed and wondered exactly what this child being had done to deserve such a fate, he could smell blood in the air. He deemed the blood not her own so she had at least injured another, or even killed them. 'Do not interfere' He thought to himself.

Walking further along he noticed a guy sitting on a horse cart who was rather bruised up and had the marks of a slave on him. He decided to walk that way, 'Can't hurt to check this out, then I'll go to the guard station and find out about that girl' he reasoned to himself and headed towards him. He noticed the woman as he got closer he could smell blood on her also the distinct smell of tainted blood. A vampire possibly he reasoned and he could see the demon on her shoulder being a dragon bread he didn't mind them, but his business was with the slave.

He stood near the woman now and pointed to the slave with his right hand. His eyes showed no emotion though that could not be discerned from behind his goggles. He let a comforting smile cross his face as he watched the man, or rather boy, he was only young. 'born into slavery, unjust.' he thought to himself and then his eyes narrowed on the boy and the fresh injuries. He rummaged in his small bag he carried pulling out what looked to be a fruit of some description and offered it to the boy. The fruit probably wouldn't be recognized as what he called a hero's fruit, it had the unique abilities to heal who ever ate it, however if more then one was consumed with in a week it would take the persons life.

Rash'yeth kept his gaze on the woman's feet a moment longer, then he heard another set of footsteps approaching, he turned his head, a man with scales, blue scales, he jumped, shocked at the man's strange appearance, he glanced up to the man's face, he had a comforting smile on his face but that didn't stop him from being awfully scary, he looked at the fruit the man was offering him and shook his head slowly, "I c-can't, I'll be caught," he mumbled, looking to the ground, he moved over on his seat a little more, fiddling with the reigns as he did.

"You there! Get away from my slave!" the Trader's voice rung out as he descended the stairs towards them at a speed Rash'yeth wouldn't have thought the portly man capable of, he continued to stare at the ground as the trader reached them, "Are you deaf? Go away!" he yelled, Rash'yeth cringed away from the man, "Unless you want to buy him, go away, he'll cost you though, spirit broken from birth and all, won't fight back, will do what he's told," the man said, already trying to bargain him away, Rash'yeth simply sat there, listening, waiting to be bartered off for the highest price his current master could get.

The man had continued talking, he was offering prices now, "Eighty gold? One-hundred?" the man offered, through Rash'yeth's mind ran one question and one alone, what would his new master be like? He had heard of kinder masters but thought of them as merely a myth, he had never actually seen one, let alone had one, he looked at the horses regretfully, he would miss them if he was sold, they were is pride and glory, the two he had trained by himself, he restrained himself from sighing, it would only earn him a beating.

The vampiress scowled at this trader. "Shut you mouth filthy human." She then glanced back up at th boy. "A hundred and fifty." Abel's mouth fell open. She was seriously thinking of buying a slave? Where would she keep it? Eden's topaz eyes glared at the trader. "Good enough for you?" She asked, fighting off baring her fangs to the human. She hated it when they thought they were all high and mighty.

Eden nodded at the boy. "Come. Now." She handed the trader a small black silk purse with just the amount she promised him. Before Rash'yeth could even follow the vampiress was walking away slowly. If she hadnt been serious, she would have been walking a lot faster. "Coming or not human?" Her voice was soft and smooth, almost caring, if that was possible for a vampire. Abel was screaming at her.

"You bough it?! Why?!"

"Should I have just let it suffer? Would you want me to leave you there if you were in his shoes?" She spat at the demon.

Abel sighed and ran her fingers through his white bangs. "I guess not...but what are you going to do with him?"

"Keep him. He may come in handy..." Eden said softly. Or he could be a potiental meal... She glanced back at him. No. He was too skinny. She would have to feed him first and make sure he wasnt sick.
