Default Labyrinth

(I pre-apologize for the long first post, here's the ooc)

Labyrinth

The land was sleeping this starless night; it was almost time for the dark creatures of the elements to appear. The outcast beings were being transformed into untold of creatures, while deep in the sea animals of unknown swam through the seaweed. Where the roots of the mountain and the trees touch there lay a labyrinth, of what seemed to be insignificant. Many of these labyrinths lay about the earth that held great power, representing either each clan or each element. The labyrinths held their own rank, just like the creatures of the land. The highest ranking Labyrinth held the great powers of the elements of the land, for it was the goddesses of the elements that created this earth. There was the goddess Shoka the earth goddess that started it all. She floated eternally in a black space of nothing and though she was easily content with her life she grew weary of no company. Her sisters were elsewhere in the blackness and she had no way to retrieve them. She created a signal for them in the blackness that was filled with hardness and sent it out floating in the blackness in hopes her sisters would come to it.

Aileana, who was light, came across her sister’s creation first. She was floating in the blackness when she fell into the hardness deformed piece. She was light herself but in order to light the way to her sisters she would have to use all her being. Being the youngest of the goddesses it would take her whole spirit away to create a light big enough. Through the darkness she heard her sister cries and decided to dedicate her life to reuniting them. She took all of her spirit being and formed a giant light in the sky she called the Sun, before dying off she ordered it to follow the hardness around, so no matter where it floated a light would guide her sisters together. With her last breath, her spirit blew up into pieces that spread across the blackness, and when the other sisters saw this they wept for they knew the death of her sister had come. Shoka was the first of the remaining sister to find her hardness again. She gathered all the remnants of her sister Aileana (the stars) and with her power of hardness she gathered them together to create a shrine for Aileana. She placed it next to the hardness and the Sun so that the light shone from it and onto the hardness. She called it the Moon, an angelic name in honour of her sister. Yet, when the Moon reflected the light onto the hardness Shoka screamed and cried for it was bare and ugly. It happened that her two other sisters heard the cry and followed the light.

Both Aria and Fenton came to the light, but it was Aria who spoke first. She asked Shoka what was wrong and Shoka could only point to the hardness. Aria the eldest and most practical of the goddess told her she would add a part of her being to it. She curved the land with flowing liquid and called it waters. There was so much of it big and small that she divided it into seas, lakes, oceans, rivers, and streams. It created large mountains and deep crevices of the hardness. Aria brought Shoka down into the hardness and told her to spread her love where ever the water was not. Green grass filled the hardness and trees, flowers, and all types of plants covered the ground. She called it earth because it was beautiful. Aria told Fenton to add to the earth but she refused, instead she created a barrier that would not cause anything inside the earth to leave. Nothing would touch the stars, the moon, the sun, or her. This took all of Fenton’s power and she too died, but as she died Shoka and Aria cursed her for they could not leave now. The remnants of her spirit were brought down into the earth so she may never leave as well. A labyrinth was created as a shrine to her, for all though they cursed her, she was also their sister. All her power was locked away and the labyrinth was sealed for eternity. Knowing without the magic of the black space they would die out, so they decided to put their last being into a last creation. Aria created magnificent sea creatures of all shapes, sizes and colours. To end off her creation she created beings like the sea creature but like her own image as well. She called them mer-people and set up a kingdom for them deep in the deepest ocean so no one can find them. She appointed a king and queen then set her labyrinth in the heart of their kingdom and waited to die their in peace.
Shoka on the other hand set up humans, and shape shifters, and all sorts of animals intelligent and non alike! She set the humans as the highest ranking for they had no powers like the others with intellectual minds and gave them a kingdom to call their own. She set up a king and queen and gave them rules. She then retreated to the mountains and created a labyrinth to die out peacefully.

There is more to this story then meets the eye, though. The darkness wasn’t just a dark empty space, it was a being that created the goddesses as his lovers, but when they rejected him he erased their memory and let them wonder in his domain for eternity. When he saw all the new creation he became angry and broke through the barrier of the sky and into the earth. The barrier Fenton created was so strong it weakened him and he drove himself into the earth where a labyrinth created itself around him. There he would stay until something awoke him.

There a beautiful blue crystal of the earth lay guarded by the magic that was not seen. It had been four centuries since the darkness was found in the under-earth labyrinth, and no one could find it now, just knowing the evil was dwelling somewhere. It took the power of elements to stop the darkness but with two elements unreachable, and the other two lost forever it took more then such power to stop the evil. There were a select few of the royal families remaining who held a secret gift however.

A small fire could be barely seen from the foot of the mountains. A lonely figure sat their reading a powerful book of dark magic. Three days from home and Arisa of the human kingdom was so wrapped up in the history of the earth. She was a part of the royal family so held some elemental powers of her own. She was kept hidden as the secret child (like every generation had done in case of the evil ones return), so had little knowledge of what she was capable of. For you see, most generations of royalty would have more then one child. A selected child would be chosen to hide away, for if evil ever arose, and the royals could not defend themselves, a secret heir would be ready and prepared to fight for them. The enemy would never see them coming.
Sadly for the child, their families remained safe, and so they lived very sad lives.

Arisa knew she could control light and she did it well, but what of the air. This was the lost art that no one could master. It was told you could fly and control the winds, but no one had proven this, so it was only a myth. Arisa didn’t believe in myths, she believed it was a lost part of her, and she could get it back. She was jealous of the mer-people who had control of the earth and water already. Her sword lay on her lap and she was content and quiet as she read. She would find the labyrinth she was looking for, even if she must find the labyrinths she wasn’t.

Arisa slammed the book shut and slammed her back against the tree she was leaning on. She could not understand why it could be so complicated, and she was an impatient person at times, and she thrived on challenges so this case was not helping her nerves. She glared at the fire, but the flames started to flicker in an unusual way. The small pebbles by her feet started to flicker and the flame of her fire had gone out. The small quake ended and by this time Arisa had grabbed her sword. It was a light weight, silver blade, engraved with deep magic markings from the sea kingdom. They had more power then the human kingdom, and all weaponry was imported from the under water world. The hilt was designed especially for grip, but had a smooth layer for easy manoeuvre. She put her book in her bag and stood up and looked around her. Nothing, there was nothing around, but then why did the ground shake? She walked more towards the cliff that was next to her camp and placed her hand on the rock, the hilt of her sword brushed up against the rock, like her slender fingers did. Immediately a set stone in the hilt of her sword began to glimmer and little sparkles of diamonds lit up along the wall of the mountain, like a path guiding it’s follower to its destination. Arisa jumped back and the light disappeared from both hilt and rock. She moved closer to the rock again, and realized what was happening. She remembered reading something about magic stones; a part of the history of the goddess Aileana.

When Aileana poured out her last being into the darkness, she created lights called stars. Shoka gathered them together and created hardness with the light of her sister out of love. She called it the moon, and formed it together so it was perfectly round and followed the earth and Sun around. While gathering the remnants of her sister and bringing them together her gown became filled with the shimmering dust of light. After finishing her work she dusted off herself and the light fell onto the earth. When humans and mer-people came into place they eventually stumbled upon such a treasure and the mer-people crafted great things out of the dust. They locked some of their craft away for they were greedy beings, while the others were put to use. The humans were filled with sorrow when such magnificent things were being held from their use and decided to craft something themselves. The created a diamond with the dust and it held great power. Yet, after so long they realized the power faded because that was the life of the goddess Aileana. Anything apart of the goddesses would fade for their life died out. It was then realized that the power of the royal family could complete the everlasting power of a diamond and so when the first king came to pass they burned his dead body and poured his ashes into a new diamond made from Aileana’s dust.

Soon both members of the human and mer race made thousands of diamonds, but locked certain ones away that held more power then others. This is when the darkness was awakening.

A lonely traveler who was greedy by nature stumbled upon an abandoned monument in the wilderness. A shimmer of light caught his eye in the ground and he immediately started to dig. As he dug to retrieve it he realized it was deeper then it appeared. Eventually it led him to the core of the earth and he found a dark labyrinth. He was led by the darkest of fauns to the center of the labyrinth where he met the darkness form the beginning of time. The darkness ate his spirit and took his body to make his own, and he had the faun carry him to the light. The faun could not follow his master for it cringed at the very thought of light so with sorrow he watched his master leave. The earth was covered back over, and the labyrinth disappeared.
Around this time there was said to be thieves stealing the diamonds and its power. Thankfully these diamonds held no royal ashes and died out quickly, so immediately the secret of the diamond ashes spread around. Secret orders were formed and the diamonds where brought into labyrinths where they would remain protected forever. Deep magic held a protection over them and they were sealed.

Arisa knew that there were still fake diamonds made, but they held little significance. They were mainly used for jewellery now a day which is what she held in the hilt of her sword. The stone being brought to the wall and showed more dust, and with the sent of her royal blood, a path was lit. Arisa followed the path, keeping her sword close to the rock and her bag close to her body. She walked for five minutes until she came to the end of her lit path. A cluster of dust gathered in a large circle and went no where! “Open!” She said in a commanding voice, and the rock started to break apart at seems unseen. She knew it seemed too simple, she assumed it had to do with royal blood. A door was created and the roof from inside the path was filled with dust, glowing brightly! Without thinking, Arisa walked in, knowing not of what followed her. She walked down winding steps leading deeper into the earth, and then an opening could be seen and a bit of air could felt upon her fair face. She walked into a giant room with sparkling crystal covering the walls and ceiling of the labyrinth tunnel and in the center laid a tall watering pond with a crystal floating on top. It shimmered and sparkled and little remnants of dust gloated around it. What looked to be tiny fairies- played tag of war with each other around the thing; Arisa knew without a doubt they were a magic protecting the crystal. It was like from her book, and it sparkled regardless of her sword or blood. It was definitely a royal crystal! She went to touch it and nothing bad happened, the guarding magic was ineffective to her.

“Strange… strange, strange! Never before has the magic failed, never, never!”

Arisa turned around on her heal her sword at the ready. There before her was a beautiful but terrifying faun looking at her. “What do you speak of faun!?” She demanded.

“What magic? Answer me faun!” Arisa was very forceful in her questioning. She could not show fear, for fauns were known to be filled with dark magic and trickery. She had no way to know if this faun had bad intentions, so she kept her guard up! The faun began to speak of a great magic that protected the crystals from any creatures touch. They had magic protecting them from the evil one. “The evil one, who tore kingdoms long ago, who caused the evil of most creatures in the world? He has not been seen, not in a century! And what does it matter if my touch stirs no magic?!”

“It matters, it matters greatly. You are of royal blood, yes royal blood… yes. You have a secret kept from even you, about you, yes you. I can see it; I can see what you really are!”
Before Arisa could answer she was shoved to the ground by a man. He ran for the crystal, but the faun charged at him. He immediately fell back and without thinking lunged for Arisa. Not her finest moment; losing her guard, being taken hostage. “Let her go, let her go!” The faun started to hiss at the man; coming closer, and backing into the shadows, and closer again. In all the fuss, Arisa had dropped her sword, and she pulled at the man's arm trying to loosen his grip on her neck.

“The crystal heals doesn’t it?! It heals! Answer me, or she dies.” The man said. Arisa could tell he would not kill her, for his grip did not tighten.
Arisa cried out his answer before the faun could. She had a plan in mind. “Yes! It heals. So I’ve read. Explain! The faun can explain.” She winked at the faun and she thankfully caught on.

“Yes, yes… it heals, it heals. Depending on your ailment. What is your ailment?”

“Silence!” The man yelled. “Let me to it!” The faun bowed and stepped back, giving an evil smile. He edged his way towards the crystal and grabbed it with his free hand. The fairies circling the crystal vanished and the crystal did nothing in his hands. He let go of Arisa and stepped back. Arisa went to reach for the crystal but the faun grabbed her arm.

“Wait, princess, wait… watch.” She knew something they did not.

Arisa jumped back towards Faun. She held firmly to her sword and stared at the terrible beast before her. How could this be? Many creatures were alive this day, but also many were growing thin in survival. She thought for sure that the werewolf was one of them. It threatened her every being; with his stance, his slight movement, even his snarling. She would not pretend that it did not spook her, but she would keep her ground firm. “What happened?!” She said keep the point of her sword in the direction of the werewolf’s throat.

“Is it not clear, my princess? Of course you may not know, of course, forgive me, and forgive me!” She bowed low; she seemed to take no heed of their danger. It would be quite amusing if Arisa was not fending for her life at the moment. “The crystal of Shoka has many powers, many indeed! It can do so much, so much, it is hard to share how much it can do.”

“Thanks you, but please, with all do respect, get on with it, please!” Arisa said moving around a bit on her feet. She was very anxious.

“Yes, yes of course! This magic is revealing his true nature. Only those clean of heart can touch the crystal unharmed!”

“But then how can I touch it, nothing has happened to me! Nothing!”

“Silly princess!” The faun hissed a bit, “You are of noble blood. I said clean heart not pure. Yes many sins in a human’s life, but clean your heart is of any evil! He is indeed a man. A werewolf has bitten him long ago. His evil shines now! The werewolf is not his true nature.” She gave a somewhat evil smirk and stared at him.

Arisa somewhat lost her instinct and jumped straight to thought. She was trying to comprehend everything the faun had just said. The werewolf was not as dumb as she thought and took advantage of her lapse of attention. He lunged for her, but fell into the ground, for the faun had leaped towards Arisa. The victor was clear, for instantly the faun had shoved Arisa away from the charging beast; they ran through the labyrinth, Arisa being dragged behind.

“Faun, we can’t just leave him like that. We have to help.” She turned around and held her sword, waiting.

The faun turned with her and smiled. This was what she truly meant by clean heart. Arisa had one indeed.

The pair had turned around, Arisa leading the way. They ran for the wolf man with no plan in mind. The wolf man advanced towards Arisa but he was stopped by a stinging pain in his leg. The faun had stabbed it, aiming for the heart, but the blow from before had caused her to stumble; Arisa was happy though for she would have much preferred the werewolf live. She felt the innocence of the man underneath, the lost soul that could still be found. As the werewolf cried out in pain Arisa leaped towards him. She had no memory of what to do but all that mattered was holding the wolf down. His game was quicker then hers for as she lunged towards him, he leaped at her. He grabbed at her and threw her to the ground and lunged for her with his claws! She rolled to the side and his big paws hit the ground; she barely got to her knees when she was tackled to the ground once more. She turned onto her front and tried to crawl off but the wolf tore and clawed at her body. She screamed out in pain as she clawed her fingers at the ground, praying for some kind of sudden idea to fix this situation. The wolf was knocked away by the faun; she had leaped into him and they both tumbled to the ground.

Arisa watched as the faun and wolf struggled to win the battle, both were getting badly beaten, and Arisa knew she had to stop it now. As much as she regretted this, she charged full into the faun and knocked her to the ground, then she leaped onto the beast and knocked him flat to the ground. She quickly reached for her sword and while in the process of the fight the beast scratched her face. She shoved her sword across the front of his body to keep his claws from her body! The hilt of the sword lay across his chest where the crystal fragments were embedded; a light illuminated slightly from the hilt. The wolf’s eyes rolled back into his head, and he began to shutter violently, with weird sounds coming from his voice, and he grinded his teeth viciously. He started shaking violently and Arisa backed away quickly, her sword still on the beast. The faun was now standing behind her holding onto her shoulders. Arisa looked up at her, like a young child looking to her mother.

“Faun… what is happening? Did I do something wrong? What is this magic?”

‘NO! No, my child you did something pure, pure... yes and amazing!’ Fea looked in awe at the wolf, then down to Arisa… She decided to wait until the transformation was completed before explaining anything.

The outer layer of fir and muscle disappeared to form a man lying naked on the ground. His breathing was laboured and Arisa and the faun went over immediately to wrap him in a blanket. They decided to bring him to shelter and create a campfire until he awoke. During this time, the faun would tell Arisa why this happened to the werewolf.

‘Come Arisa, I’ll tell you why this happened. Your crystal in your sword… I noticed it before. An insignificant crystal, but mixed with the pure intentions of a royal, pure noble, can do great things. You had the hilt of your sword pressed against his heart, and it was also you determination that activated the crystal. You helped make him new again.’

“Does this mean he is no longer a werewolf… he is healed?” The look on the faun’s face told Arisa her answer and made her heart sad. Soon the man awoken, and the faun and the girl just stared at him, letting him have his way.
He held slight memory loss since the crystal extracted his wolf being, but for the most part remembered what had happened. He mumbled apologizes but did not move, he felt the need to explain his reasons for being there and everything that happened but he did not feel to do so just yet. No doubt the faun would ask why he was here anyway.
