Had it really been twenty-six years now? Time held little meaning in space as one travels abroad to different planets, but the fact that he had just turned forty four years old a few days ago did little to comfort him. Marcus Harillium, captain of the System Alliance Fleet's cruiser SSV Damascus - a mere ensign back when the First Contact War threatened to destroy humanity during its great leap forward into the galactic community - was by his standards a seasoned veteran. Perhaps that was why the Human representative on the Council put his name forward. Commander Shepard, the hero of Eden Prime and the protector of the Citadel, could not be troubled with this minor trouble at the edge of the galaxy. No, why waste the efforts of one who could bring an end to the Reapers, when there were bountiful ship captains abroad to deal with the lesser issues in the galaxy? Lesser issues indeed. He was there when the Turians attacked the unarmed craft trying to activate the Mass Relay. He was there when war broke out, when he was on the front lines during the counter attack. He had been there when the Batarians attacked Mindoir, watching in helpless horror as civilians were killed by slavers. He had been there when a call to arms was announced, and without hesitation turned the SSV Damascus to the Citadel to fight against the Geth and Sovereign. Though many starships had been lost that day, his was not among them. He had distinguished himself that day, holding high the flag of Humanity while flying into the teeth of war. After all of that... And he's assigned to babysit ungrateful aliens, and a youthful Spectre who, based on his own experience with the unlikely Order, was simply not ready for the arduous tasks involved with such responsibility. "I understand." Captain Harillium stated to the four hologram images of the robed councilmen in the briefing room aboard the Damascus. "Do I even need to ask if this information is on a need-to-know basis?" "You don't seem to fully appreciate the responsibility bestowed upon you, Captain." replied one of the translucent figures, a Salarian. "Transporting Spectres to their destination is a very dangerous task, especially to the Terminus System. Do we need to remind you that, officially of course, that the Council holds no interests in that area? How do you believe the system would react, knowing that a Spectre was there under direct orders from the Council?" "Then why a Spectre? Surely a team of Salarian or Turian commandos can get into the system more easily than a human vessel carrying a Spectre. A Human Spectre." The Asari's calming voice broke in, using her race's known soothing tones of reason to calm the captain. "Because a Spectre can use his authority on behalf of the Council to obtain information no other branch of security or military could achieve." "And what information is this particular Spectre trying to achieve?" the captain asked slyly, as if he were playing a game of chess against a super computer. "As you said before," the Human councilman finally said through their entire meeting. "It is on a need-to-know basis. You have your orders." With that, the transmission was cut, leaving the captain standing in the domed room, fists shaking silently at his sides. Twenty-six years... ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* ~*~*~ "Systems Alliance tower to SSV Damascus, you have green light for clearance." said the tower operator overlooking the docking bay. Ever since the attack from the Geth, traffic in and out of the Citadel had been tightly limited, leaving only military and merchant craft access to the docks. With such little traffic in the Citadel, the waiting time had been cut almost threefold. At least they would be out of the cramped quarters of the station and on their way to the Terminus System. Captain Harillium had double checked the ships sytems, everything from the heat management to the ship's GUARDIAN system. Then he had the crew triple check the ship again. No chances were going to be taken entering such hostile space such as the Terminus. The low hum of the ship's engines coming online interrupted most of the crew's conversations and idle time. It was time to get to work. The captain had remained in the conference room, seated in one of the chairs that were arranged in a circle. He had summoned the Spectre and his two Asari protegees just before takeoff was initiated. The dull thump of the magnetic coils being released from the ship's hull echoed throughout the ship. A final maneuver of turning the craft away from the docking bay was initiated before everything went quiet except for the low humming of the engines. Harillium looked up on the main screen and watched their progress. They were still twenty minutes before reaching the Mass Relay. While they waited, he would be sure to extract answers from the trio that had boarded the ship.

Despite her own mirrored feelings Enteri really didn't think Ferai was ready. In truth, she was at the age when most people began the training. Most Asari commandos engaged in twenty or thirty years of training before being fielded as Enteri had done, in her case twenty three years of arduous training in martial arts, weaponry, small unit tactics and even several months just learning how to listen, simply listen to things going on about her. No, she didn't think Ferai was ready, no matter how powerful a biotic she was but the Matriarch determined that she should go and that Enteri could continue her training and that perhaps they could both learn something from the experience- whatever that could possibly be. "To determine how much a threat to the ship we are," Enteri said with the calm assurance that it would be what she'd have done. Snapping her Tornado shotgun out, checking the diagnostics on the weapon she gave a brief smile and followed. |

What do you mean by "Threat?" *Hearing the word sent chills throughout her body. For some unknown reason, Ferai never felt comfortable around a being that thought rather badly about her. It may have been the typical feeling that came with being so young. The two make their way down the corridor, Ferai observing her surroundings as well as the crew that helped run the ship.* I don't see why we would be any threat anyways. Didn't he choose US? *Ferai spoke with curiouosity, under the impression that the new Missions crew was hand picked by the Captain himself. At least that's what she was told by the superiors from her division. She glanced up at the wall to her left, noticing a map of the ship. The conference room was just up the hall and around the corner to the left.*

Enteri didn't like talking, talking took away from listening and listening kept you alive. Stalking down the corridor with her partner she answered, "He's human, a very aggressive species. It is natural that they assume others are like themselves." It wasn't much of an answer but then Ferai didn't really need one. Enteri debated answering her question more fully or just waiting another few moments for the captain and the Spectre to do so. Personally she believed that Councillor Anderson was involved, that he was trying to recreate the mixed racial team that had supposedly served his pet Spectre so well. Whether by fluke or by design it had seemingly saved the galaxy or so it was said. Reavers, what a foolish concept! In truth, what she'd read about Human history had intrigued her. They were much like the Krogan with their political infighting that had left tens of millions dead in any number of wars before they even left their own planet. She couldn't imagine a more perfect place to test her battle prowess and under one of the new human Spectres no less! |

Hm! Maybe. *Ferai, feeling rather anxious at the moment, turns the corner, quickly approaching the conference room. The captain was already in the room, waiting for his missions crew. She looks to the ground as the two enter the room, afraid to look her new captain directly in the eye. A feeling of doubt had now begun to run through her mind.* He looks rather rough! *Coming to a halt, Ferai brings her right hand, bladed, to her fore head, soluting the captain. She kept silent, as Enteri was the experienced soldier in fighting, and formal military introductions. As far as Ferai was concerned, she was there because she was superior in Biotic abilities and her knack for Nursing the sick and injured. Maybe a trait that ran in her family.*

What the hell was that? Enteri couldn't fathom what Ferai was doing. It looked like she'd tried chopping herself in the head with her hand for some reason she couldn't fathom. "Captain," Enteri said simply, offering a brief nod where one would more then likely expect a more friendly greeting. She was Asari after all and few interacted with the race's militia. |

Dorian sat calmly in his room, his assault rifle was completely disassembled before him with each piece arrayed in it's proper place. He then deftly and with practiced ease set about putting it back together in proper working order. Many modern soldiers no longer performed such detailed maintenance of their weapons but Dorian felt that the better a soldier knew his weapons, the better he could perform with them and since he was a Spectre now it would be necessary for him to perform at his maximum capacity. Checking over his assault rifle one last time he placed it on his bunk next to his other weapons which he had already checked over completely. Standing up he looked down at his guns set out across his bunk for only a second before turning sharply towards the door and exiting into the ship proper. Since he had already gone over the plans for this ship class he knew exactly were the conference room and began to swiftly stride there. Being new to the Spectres he was still not sure how jurisdictions worked so felt it would help to keep the transition easy if he simply maintained his status as a soldier in most areas. As a result he had no qualms in obeying the captain when he summoned him to the conference room for some sort of meeting. It did not take him very long to find his way to the conference room on board the ship. The first thing he noticed was that the Asari commandos had already arrived and at least one seemed to understand proper decorum. Walking further into the room he took a step to put him forward and to the right of Ferai since in a way he outranked her. Then, with proper military posture he gave the captain a solid salute. It was not what an ensign would have given, and his salute was in fact closer to that of two similarly ranked officers though he did have a much more stiff posture than most officers had when meeting each other. "Dorian Jericho, reporting to the conference conference room as requested, sir," his voice had the natural projection of a NCO even though he did not raise his voice as he spoke.

The captain wasn't reading their case files when they arrived. He wasn't pending his fingers together at them. For such a rugged-looking man, he seemed calm within the confines of his own ship. Confidence and a sense of leadership radiated from the way he presented himself. One leg comfortably rested over the other while he was found staring at the aft cameras, watching the stars drift by as they speared their way through the blackness of oblivion. When the doors sighed open, shuttling in two Asari commandos, he regarded them for a few heartbeats. One seemed immediately familiar with Human culture and military doctrine. He glanced at both of their faces back and forth, befuddled at their similarities. This could prove to be a problem both socially and practically, if he was to use them as he had been ordered to. The slightly folded skin around the corners of the captain's eyes squinted slightly as he nodded his head at their introduction. "At ease." he said just as the Spectre came in close behind the aliens. "At ease..." Slowly pushing himself up from the curved seat, he stood before his audience with a practiced hand in orating, knowing that to address the issue correctly would save him both time and trouble in the near future. He held himself straight and tall, the greying hair on his head cut short and neat to create an aura of professionalism. There would be no small talk from him. Straight and to the point. "For reasons that have been deliberately made unavailable to me, I am to transport the three of you to the Terminus System... Sentry Omega." He paused to allow the location sink in. Most knew all too well of the exploits and locations Commander Shepard had visited. "Virmire." He crossed the room and touched a stationary control module, activating a holo-menu with a clear schematic of the system and of their trajectory. "I am to drop you off at a nearby Salarian outpost. From there you will receive further instructions and aid from a Korgan named Kage. That is all I have been given in terms of information." He turned slowly on his heel back to the trio facing him, hands resuming their place at his back. "Its time for show and tell, class. I will not have my ship or her crew put in jeopardy because of faulty intel. What are we really flying into? The last I heard there were still pockets of Geth resistance on the planet."

Teek was busy in the engine room. He was calculating how hot the engines will get during the journey. He heard the door open and another Engineer stood by him as Teek pressed diffrent buttons. On the screen diffrent numbers were coming up fast to an engineer these were his job to anyone else they were random numbers. Teek stopped and turned around to the man who had just entered "Hello Teek" he spoke. Teek replied with a sort of nod before being questioned "Were do you think were going?" Teek shrugged "There going to keep the crew in the dark...i saw a specter and those asari peaple...i dont know its just like the stories i heard" The man laughed a bit "do you think theres gonna be geth?" Teek shrugged again and got back to typing "Well find out".
