The dust covered convoy was moving at its full speed towards New Hope, a full thirty miles. It was late in the day, but the trucks were almost to their destination, otherwise they would have set up camp long ago, and hoped no major demon found them. If they did not make it to the city, by nightfall, then there would be a better hope in a snow storm than for them. All the guards were human and not even well equipped. A single demon could easily have ripped through them with out so much as a minor wound.
“What delicious irony” Valkyrie snickered quietly while licking her muzzle lowered her binoculars. With any luck, this would be a short battle and her men would be able to get away before sun set themselves. Valkrie flapped her bat wings in annoyance at all the cloths she had to wear. Every part of her body was wrapped in sand colored cloth, to prevent her from one burning, and two, to keep her white fur from shining like a beacon. Slowly she pulled her ionic pistol out of its holster on her belt and made sure her rapier was lose in its sheath. The beauty of ionic weapons were that they could blast through anything. The downside was that they had a very limited charge, a good minute cool down, and were inaccurate at over 30 yards. Walking to the top of the hill, Valkyrie looked to the left and to the right side of the hill. The convoy was just about beside the hill, when she called for the charge. About twenty people in various different vehicles came burst out of hiding all around the hill and swarmed toward the convoy. A few more took position on the hill with a different version of the ionic rifle, one that sacrificed fire rate, for accuracy. The the current temperature these people would be luck to fire once every 7 minutes. As the fight engaged, Valkyrie watched to for any unknown dangers to her rag tag bunch, before jumping into the air and gliding towards the battle. The was another 20 or so of her soldiers securing, so she was confident that a minor loses was all that she would suffer.

Sheyera swore under her breath as she watched the attackers pour out of their hiding spots like roaches, "What the?!" she tries to count the numbers, but realized there were too many for her to take alone. Though that was not going to stop her, she adjusted her view to see what it was that was being attacked so heavily. *A supply convoy with basic human security, no wonder there were so many attacking them, they were easy prey. When were the humans going to learn that they needed us to protect them?* Shey growled to herself as she activated her neural link, "This is Lt. Commander Sheyera West." "Go ahead commander." "I have over a dozen demon mercs, class-A type attacking a supply convoy. I'm going to engage them to give the convoy time to get to the city. Requesting immediate back up." "Understood Commander. Use extreme caution, back up is in route." She severed the link and ran to the edge of the building adjusting the sword strapped to her back she checks the position of the convoy once again and then jumps down from the 15 story building.
With a ground shuddering thump she land on the ground going to one knee due to the impact. She is only slowed for an instant before the sound of her black steel toed boots crunching the rubble can be heard as she races to her personal transportation vehicle. The new on black high gloss paint job was new and it showed especially with the setting of the sun. On a normal day she would have taken the time to admire the smooth and powerful machine, but right now she was on a mission. She removes her sword and straps it to the side where it would be easily accessible. Placing her hand on the center the machine reads her bio-signature and lights up doing a self diagnostic on itself as she tips it up and onto its wheels. She twists the accelerator feeding the engine some fuel, its roars like a hungry lion in search of its next meal. A hungry smile on her own lips she twists the accelerator down once again this time holding it down while at the same time holding the break down causing the rear wheel to spin in place building up speed and kicking up smoke. As the engine geared up she listened for the right moment before releasing the break and allowing the bike to surge forth like a race horse breaking out of the gate. The convoy was closer now and were making a valiant attempt at fending off their attackers. Who to take out first? Was the only question in Shey's mind as she raced toward the convoy. Thinking that it would be best to get to the people first and fight from there. |

The battle was not going as well as Valkyrie would have hoped. The guards were putting up considerable resistance, but it would be better for both sides if the guards would have gave up. The sun was not going to wait for the battle to finish, and far worse things prowled the night than bandits. As it stood Valkyries men had taken two of th six trucks and were working hard on the other. For now she saw no reason to get physically involved, but she did swoop down a time or two to spread fear and fire a couple of shots.
Valkyrie had flow a fair distance above the battle field to survey one more time. “Shit” she muttered seeing a approaching could of dust and assumed it was a demon. She screeched three times into the air just like an anthropomorphic bat would for sonar. It did give her a nice picture of the area in sonar, but that was only a side effect. Her men instantly broke off fighting and retreated with 4 of the trucks. Unfortunate it looked like she would writing several letters tonight, judging form the bodies and giving speeches in the next few days. She was not happy about leaving the bodies but with a demon fast approaching there was no time. In fact, she realized there was not enough time to escape. There had to be an delay, she knew that she had the best chance of survival. Valkyrie shifted her wings to turn herself towards the dust cloud. It was moving very quickly towards her men, but was still a good distance form them and air. After lining up, she dove toward it, trading altitude for speed. All nervousness about what she was about to do had been burned away as she rushed to meet what was to be the toughest battle of her life. Valkyrie was utterly confident, the sun was setting behind her and the wind was on her side, what more did she need?

Shey was tucked low to her bike to cut down on as much wind resistance as possible, giving herself maximum speed. Sniffing the air as it rushed toward her she was confused by what she scented. "Humans....and other supers. But why would they be attacking the supply convoy?" she asked herself as she raced forward. The wind shifted and a strong scent came her way, "A bat?" she thought in confusion right before she felt something collide with her. The wind was knocked from her as she thrown from her bike, rolling and tumbling with the being that had impacted with her. Finally for what seemed like a lifetime she skidded to a stop, the strong coppery taste in her mouth told her that her mouth was bleeding. Choking on the dust filled air she got to her knees, one arm clutching at her battered and bruised ribs. "Whoever hit me is going to be in a world of pain!" she snarled as she slowly got to her feet. Looking over the figure who was also slowly getting to their feet, shock took her as she got a good look and whiff, "Your not a demon!" Anger flared up as she realized what was going on, "You filthy bandits! Your part of the reason why the humans hate us in the first place!" she growled as she charged.
Night was fast approaching as the convoy began to limp its way toward it original destination. Many lives were lost in an attempt to get the supplies to New Hope City and more of them would die if they did not reach the city before the nightfall. Shey's back up support were on the way at top speed, they knew well the danger that came at night. Even if they were highly trained and gifted with supernatural abilities, they were not invincible nor stupid and knew well of the dangers that lurked beyond their city walls. |

In retrospect, the dive bomb had not been the best idea in Valkyries life, but she had at least knocked the demon off its bike. Her mind paused for a second, as she was getting up. “Demons don't have bikes” she thought slowly, confused by this. Looking at the person, she had just attacked, she mumbled a few obscenities, at being scared by a lonely solider. “Well I am quite offended” Valkyrie thought, raising her pistol at the charging werewolf. “bye, bye love” She said pulling the trigger. There was an empty click form the gun.
Valkyrie just cursed the gun, as she was struck full in the stomach by the charging solider. They both came crashing to the ground with Valkyrie on bottom. Pain erupted form her stomach and wings as she was plowed into the ground. Whether or not anything was broken, she could not tell yet. The gun had been thrown for her grip at the impact, not that it was even remotely useful. Looking sideways, she saw the last of her men go over the hill. They were safe at least, and that was all that mattered. “Parley?” Valkyrie ask to further delay. There was a chance that with enough of such, the solider would leave her , in order to get to the gates in time. Besides it was not over yet, Valkyrie had at least one more trick up her sleeve.

Fangs evident on her mouth as she held the bandit pinned beneath her, snarled she leaned close to sniff her "You smell like fear and dirt. I should rip out your throat for the trouble and pain you have caused me." though to be fair her wounds were already healed, but there was no need in letting the enemy know this. For a brief moment back there she could have cursed her luck as she charged head first with a gun pointed at her. She was already committed to the move so was prepared to try and dodge it the best she could. Though it probably did mean she was going to be shot, at least it was not going to be in her face. When that blood chilling click as the trigger was pulled and the gun was found to be empty, she could have howled right then and there in triumph. Now here she was straddling some bat creature who had the nerve to ask for parley, like they were on some pirate ship or something.
The thought to just end it now came roaring up and she moved to do just that when a communication came blaring into her mind. "All forces return to the city. Night is upon us, we already have confirmed sightings of some mega-class demons out and on the prowl." Growling Shey glares back down at the female creature pinned beneath her, "It looks like you get your parley after all." reaching to her belt she pulled out a pair of energy cuffs. Getting up just enough to allow for her to roll her captive over she cuffed her behind her back, then grabbing her arms she stood her up rather roughly and began to drag her to her bike. "And you ruined the new paint job on my bike." she growls angrily. |

“Honesty I would rather save some time, so go ahead and kill me, I mean otherwise its going to be a short drop with a sudden stop.” Valkyrie said smiling, she was completely serious to. Even if she died this was still a victory, and there was nothing this Werewolf could do about it. She looked at it like this, most of her men had gotten away with supplies at that. It was better to die on the flied of victory than be executed a prisoner of war. For that was also how she saw it. This was a war between her underground forces and the corrupt and, tyrannical government. Besides if she were taken alive, then her men, might try to do something stupid like break her out, thus revealing their presence in the city.
Still it was unlikely the solider was undisciplined enough to just kill her. It was nearly night though and if Valkyrie managed to get away now, she doubt the werewolf would pursue. She knew exactly how to get away, but there was still the problem with the demons but that was only a minor flaw. Taking a deep breath, Valkyrie screeched, manipulating the sound by means of her own supernatural abilities to be longer and a much higher frequency. She winced in pain herself at the noise, her ears felt like they were bleeding and she was prepared for it.

"ARGHHH!!" Shay howled as she released her captive dropping her knees in pain as her ears began to bleed and her brain felt like it was going to explode. Normally sonic attacks were not so effective on her, but this was point blank range and she was so pissed that she had not taken the proper precaution when dealing with a sound capable foe. The world went blurry and she felt like she was going to puke from her equilibrium being unbalanced. The only thing that kept going through her mind was, "I should have just left my post early."

The plan worked better than Valkyrie had excepted. When the werewolf released her, she stopped and ran full blast back towards the battlefield. With a running start, she jumped into the air, and started to fly away. Her movements was clumsly due to her arms being cuffed together. Still there was nothing to hit so, she was fine. In a few seconds of furious wing pumping she made was about 20 feet in the air and flying towards the hill she had started the battle from. The minor problem with demons suddenly seemed like a much bigger deal. It was easy to die when you thought you had not choice, but now that escape was possible, Valkyrie very much wanted to live.
The shriek was not only heard by those two, it carried across the dessert and drew the attention of several demons. Most disregard as to far away for anything to be left when they got there. A moderately powerful demon was near enough to try his luck though. So taking off a slow jog towards the sound. It was a powerfully built creature, covered with blue-gray scales form head to foot. It had a large wings, like those of a birds verses a bat . The creature was not overly intelligent, but it was strong and take counted for a lot. It did not take it long to be in sight of the battlefield, and with it being over 12 foot tall, there was little way to miss it. Valkyrie hoped greatly that the werewolf recovered enough to run away, but she doubt, even on the bike she could out run it. Despit her being a bandit, Valkyrie would not stand and watch someone get killed by a demon. As her honor demanded, she turned and flew back towards her captor.
