Default The Covenant

Important Notice: Before posting visit the OOC thread The Covenant

Erica is an 18 year old Seriphim whom has been blessed with the gift of an eather Emphirieal. Due to her Emphirieal her eyes appear pink. However the pink eyes are about the only feminine thing that can be easily discerned. She wears a black knights armor with a black cape. In the center of the cape is the symbol of the lady church of Akina. She carries a long sword that she keeps in perfect condition. She Sometimes uses a bow and arrow however it isn't her prefered weapon so she hasn't got a very good aim. When she interacts with others they mostly assume that she's a guy. Only once had a person detected she is indeed a girl, The one person was Chiro Nareta, at the times she was fifteen and she had fallen in love with Erica. Apon the discovery that Erica was in fact a woman Chiro decided, against her fathers wishes to be with Erica. Erica also had fallen in love with Chiro. Sadly Chiro was murdered only two short years later. With her dying breath she told Erica that she was glad for their time together. She then kissed her gently before closing her eyes and dying in Erica's arms.

This brought Erica's world crashing down around her. She withdrew further from everyone thus enforcing the mystery that enveloped her. She blamed herself for Chiro's death reasoning that if she hadn't fallen in love with Chiro she would still be alive today. She still seeks justice for Chiro's death. Vowing to avenge the loss of her lover.

Walking into the church Erica glanced around. Letting out a sigh she walked over to the bulletin board that people used to put up mission notices. She scanned the board that was located towards the south Exit of the large complex. The church had approximately three floors or so it appeared. There were hidden floors amongst the churches walls that were concealed by magic thus it was impossible to know the exact number of floors.
Many people came to the church to either use it's library or just socialize. The church allowed a safe haven for meetings of all types, even the more sinister looking characters were granted haven. With in the walls of the church of Akina all were welcome.

However Erica was here to claim a mission as a servent of the church it was her duty, or so she told herself. Didn't seem to be many missions today, Scanning all of them she surmised that none of them were any more then an 'E' rank. She ranked missions on their difficulty on a scale from 'A' to 'E' with 'A' being the most difficult of missions.
One mission in particular caught her attention. A young child had gone missing from a poor farming family. The notice appeared to be more a begging mothers last resort. There was no reward posted so she knew the mission would never be completed my a mercenary.

"May the Blessings fall upon your graceful heart" She heard a voice say from behind her as she pulled the piece of paper of the board. Looking around she saw a man wearing the robes of the church.
"Thank you, Father" Erica replied with a gentle voice that few have ever heard.
"You serve the church with out thought to yourself." The man smiled warmly before adding the official title that Erica had become known as after a slight pause "Sir Erik The Noble."
"I don't know so much as noble father, I simply do what has to be done."She replied in a kindly manner.

The early morning sun smiled upon Croix as he knelt in reverence before the tombstone in front of him, basking in the graveyard's silence. As he laid on his knee, his heavy greaves crushing the dead grass beneath, Croix clasped his hands in prayer.

"Goddess Akina, I pray to thee: Grant her the eternal rest thou hast promised, and aid me in serving thee and fulfilling mine own purpose," Croix prayed, his eyes closed and teary. After a brief moment of silence, the templar took one last look at the name on the tombstone and picked himself up. Securing his broadsword in its sheath and checking the shield on his back, Croix concluded that he was ready to leave and began to walk back to the church, his eyes still wet from his daily ritual.

As Croix neared his home, he marveled at the glorious architecture of the church. It was a grand building, supported by lavishly engraved pillars and studded with beautiful stained glass windows. The structure was alive and kicking, with chatter filling the air and people going in and out, creating a familiar hustle and bustle. Smiling and forgetting his woes, Croix stepped in and headed for the mission board.

Doing some service work'll take my mind off of it, as always, Croix thought to himself as he stared up at the massive notice board that contained all of the mission information. However, there weren't many missions up for grabs - a lot of them were easy, too. The gruff templar was about to turn away in disappointment when he noticed a mission that caught his eye.

A notice to find a farmer's child. The mission had no reward listed, and was set in by the mother. Seeing such a thing touched Croix's heart - who would take on a mission with no reward?

I could just walk away, but...That wouldn't please Akina or allow her to rest in peace, either, Croix contemplated as he signed his acceptance of the mission. Right after he completed the form, he heard some voices behind him and turned over to face them.

"I don't know so much as noble father, I simply do what has to be done," an imposing man in black armor said to a monk. Croix smiled, recognizing the voice and noting the similar paper in the black knight's hands.

"Sir Erik The Noble! Pleasure to see you undertake such a mission," Croix said, waving one heavily armored hand towards the familiar warrior. Croix knew the man by name, since Erik often helped the church out by undertaking missions and serving valiantly.

A blizzard raged outside of the temple, the Frozen Maiden was angered, Lyesh grinned as she read through a book detailing thoroughly how to stay alive in an extremely cold environment, she had read the book over and over, just like nearly every other book in the library of the temple, she sighed, putting it down, she looked at one of the icy mirrors that provided light to this underground part of the temple of Hinormi, the mirrors all reflected light that was captured by an ingenious tower of ice that shot up above the clouds from the middle of the temple, which, amazingly enough, managed to reflect light down into the building.

She stood slowly, her black wings spreading out lazily as she walked up a long flight of stairs, 'One day, mistress, a palace of Ice shall be at the center of this land and you shall rule,' she thought to herself, her fanatical devotion to her god showing in the bitter smile that spread across her face as she reached the top floor, she nodded to the thinly-clothed priests and priestesses as they passed her on her way to the frost-encased wooden board that held notes and requests from those brave enough to request the help of those who worshiped the goddess Hinormi, she frowned in disgust at the number of rescue missions pinned among the scarce notes that were actually there, but one caught her eye, no reward, for finding a farmer's child.

A warm land farmer's child at that, one of the people she hated, but the word that truly caught her eye was 'farm', farms were large, enough to be worth something at the very least and if not it would always look nice as flat, frozen land, perhaps an outpost that could be put to use recruiting more loyalists into the church of Ice. She tore the note off and grinned at the thought; a new outpost, another step towards blotting out the sun and another step towards a frozen world.

"Taking an interest in warm-landers, Lyesh?" a male's voice whispered behind her, "You're getting soft, maybe you should spend some time in the blizzard, clear your thoughts of that pathetic pity,"

"I refuse to help warm-landers and you know it, High Priest Nathan, but a farm is a large property as you may know and poor as the warm-landers may be, not affording a reward, they'll give me all the reward I need with their property, I'll turn it into another frozen outpost and we can bring more to our cause, we will freeze this world, whether it's in this life or the next, I assure you we will do it,"

"Such plans of Grandeur, be safe in your travels, priestess Lyesh, the prayers of the Frozen will be with you, send word and we shall have priests sent to accommodate the new recruitment post,"

"Of course, sir," she replied swiftly, the tone of the High Priest's voice suggested an order rather than advice, without another word she wandered out into the blizzard, her icy blade at her side her only supply, as was her custom. As she walked through the blinding snows she smiled to herself, her hair whipping about behind her, she felt content, happy even, the sort of happiness that would come to a warm-lander on a hot summer's day, she did not shiver, but were any to see her it would almost look as if she were taking sustenance and hope from the blizzard she wandered through. She sighed as she trudged onwards through the thigh-deep snow as if it were perfectly normal, not hiding her black wings yet, no, she would hide them when she reached warm ground.

"Sir Erik The Noble! Pleasure to see you undertake such a mission," Croix said, waving one heavily armored hand towards the familiar warrior. Croix knew the man by name, since Erik often helped the church out by undertaking missions and serving valiantly.

"The mission is in need of attendance." She replied looking upon the templar that had spoken to her. "The better the world would be if more would attend to missions for the honor of Akina then seek the glory of gold." She added with a cold edge waving to a few mercenaries that had just approached the board and taken the few missions with high rewards offered.
"True honor shows with service as Croix and yourself would know, Why don't the two of you both work on this mission, The better minds work together to solve the puzzles faster." The priest said with a smile before turning to leave and adding. "My apologies I must attend to the morning rituals, I hear that more injured will be coming from the lands of fire and ice." He said as he walked off down the halls.
"What say you? Shall we attend this mission as a team?" Erica asked with a look that said she really didn't care what he chose as she waited for his reply she focused her thoughts, the way she did before every mission. She rationalized that flying there would be fastest however is it speed that was required or knowledge. Her pink eyes seemed to see into the heart of people as she examined the young man standing before her she found herself wondering what he would do if he found out the truth about her.

She smiled to herself and almost laughed as she pictured him being shocked that she was a girl. She then looked up again and wondered if he even knew she was a Seriph. She suddenly realized that she may let her masculine appearance fall if she isn't careful and she rechecked her stance standing taller as a few more mercenaries. She wondered why so many looked so tired and worn. Had they been on a dangerous mission, The last few months she had seen no missions go up that were over a 'C' rank. So she wondered was this from the lands of fire and ice they were returning from. If so why had the church not asked her to attend yet. Were they holding her back or was their a greater purpose for her.
"Oh for the love of Akina what is it these men have been doing to be so beaten." She asked no one in particular but still meaning to have an answer of someone.

Camryn walked into town. She stood still, and took a look around. She had just arrived, and was a little tired. 'Ahh.... But I have no money....' She sighed, and started to walk again. "Well, no money no food, so I'll go look for something..." She said oout loud, though talking to herself. She walked by a couple of stpres, until she finally found a machinist store. She walked inside, and went up to the person who worked there.

"Hey! I'm Camryn Lane, and I've just travelle to here. Do you, by any chance have a job opening for me, for a couple of days?" She asked to worker, while giving a huge smile. It was a man in his late 20's, and he looked nice enough. "Uh...well... I dunno... There's not much at the moment...." He said, as he looked around the shop, as if he would find a job for her right then and there. "Ah! It's not a real job, but I would appreciate it if you could run some errands for me." He said, giving her a smile in return.

Camryn nodded. "I guess so..." She started, a little dissapointed. '"Running errands" won't get me much money, but I did ask...' She thought. "Well.... What do you need?" She asked. "Well, I need a book from the Library first." He said. "It's called Advanced Building. Once you get it, bring it back here. I'll tell you if I need anything else then." He said.

"Advanced Building from the Library... Okay! I'll be back!" She said, as she ran out back into the streets. She thought she heard the man say something else, but she ignored it. She continued to walk along the streets for about ten minutes, thinking about what kind of information would be in this book. 'Even though it's not gonna be much money, It will be knowledgable. I'll read a bit of it before I give it to him.' She thought. And then she looked up, and around. "Uh oh....." She said. "I'm..... lost?" She scratched her head, and looked around.

'And I don't even know what the library looks like... I should have asked him where it was...' She thought, as she continued to look around. She then saw a church. Camryn sighed again. "Ah Hirami.... I hope you can get me out of this problem...." She said, thinking about how she hadn't prayed to her god in a while. Then she remembered with a jolt. "Library!" She exclaimed, making some people around her jump, and look at her strangely. She then skipped towards the church, happy again. "The church should have a library." She said happily. 'Thanks Hirami! I'll deffinately pray to you later.' She said, as a silent thanks to her god.

Camryn walked up the steps to the church, and opened the doors. 'Wow...' She thought, as she walked inside. 'This is nice...' And it was. Not many of the other churches had been this big, at least in the towns she had been to. She walked around a little, looking for the library. She finally found it, and retrieved the book. She opened it up, excited. "Advanced Building! I wonder if there is something I don't know in here..." She lapsed into silence as she began to read the book.

She started to walk out of the library while reading. She wasn't paying attention to where she was going, and started heading a different way from which she came. She continued to read and walk, until she bumped into something. "Hey!! That hurt......." She started, putting a free hand to her head where it had been hit. She had walked into some guy. "Ah..... sorry...." She said to the man. He looked like he was a templar, and had been talking to another guy. "Sorry," she said again, hoping she hadn't interupted them.

"What say you? Shall we attend this mission as a team?" Sir Erik's response came with a distant tone and apathetic glance. This was no surprise to Croix. Although the templar was a warrior of some renown himself, Erik was a living legend at this church. Any greenhorn tagging along on the mission would likely slow him down. However, Croix was no greenhorn. In fact, he was getting curious. Although he had heard a lot about Sir Erik, he had hardly met with or spoken with the man. To sate his curiosity, he needed to travel with the man. As things became less about finding the lost child - an easy mission, but important nonetheless - Croix opened his mouth to respond.

BUMP.

Croix felt a slamming sensation in his back. Turning around, he saw a young girl, shorter than he was and holding a hand on her head while holding a book.

"Hey!! That hurt... ah, sorry. Sorry." The girl said, confidence falling from her voice by the second. Croix simply laughed and placed a hand on the teenager's head.

"No worries, lass. Just try not to read and walk!" Croix said, gregarious laughter filling his words. It had been a while since something so beautifully silly had happened to him, and a little humor was highly appreciated by the gruff templar. Then, turning back to Sir Erik, he looked the man in the eyes. Those pink, pink eyes.

"Alright, Sir Erik. Let's find this child together. We'll depart whenever you're ready," Croix said, fastening the blade at his hip. The man felt some excitement surging up, a feeling that told him there was more to this nobleman than met the eye, as well as this mission. Croix had learned to trust his gut long ago, during the war with the church of Diadara. After all, it kept him alive.

Erica nodded and smiled to the teen that had just bumped into the guy she would now be taking on this mission with her. Her smile was unlike most male smiles however it soon disappeared as she returned to her business like manor.
"We should leave at once, Akina only knows what could be happening to that poor child right now, One of Diadara's fowl servants could have got their hands on her by now for all we know." Erica said turning and walking to the door.
A pink bolt flew from her arm and out the door ahead of her as if doing some unspoken task. As she walked through the doors in to the open air she took a breath looking around as if trying to find something. As if by an unknown force her unicorn fire horse came running around the corner it's mane of brilliant red showing through the brightness of the day. her horse was closely followed by another horse of no less splendor. Both horses showed a defiant look in their eyes that seemed to say "We shall serve till our last breath."
She waited for the templar to follow before mounting up on her fire horse and gestured to the horse that had followed hers. "You may use her, she will serve you well." she said this as if the decision had already been made.
She glanced to the south skies and frowned she didn't like how dark the clouds were considering they would have to ride that way. 'What in the name of Akina, don't tell me that Hinormi has something to do with this. She thought to herself and dreaded the thought.
"We should be able to make it to kreikutsu, a village along the way before night fall." She stated none of the dread that was in her thoughts showing through.
Her eyes scanned the road ahead as if she was looking into the distance, Her composure gave nothing other then a notion she was totally calm. However in her mind the mission just gained two difficulty levels. "May the blessings of Akina and Hirami guide us through the coming storm." she thought to herself and as if in answer to her thoughts a slight white glow appeared and then disappeared straight away. The winds blowing around them seemed to carry the chill of the oncoming storm and the building groaned as they chilled from the past heat of the day. "It appears we shall have our journey cut out for us, If Hinormi has anything to do with it." She stated and spurred her horse on.

Vaawn had grown weary of the childs crying, but she was the perfect bait to draw out those wretched "do gooders". He knew they wouldn't be able to resist, and even if they didn't act he'd simply kill the girl, a sacrifice to his favored goddess Like'a. He made no mention of this mission to anyone, it was more of an off duty act. If anyone did show he would inform them, and enlist their aid, though he did not need it.

He was merely a servant to the dark gods, but he was also a servant to himself, and would reward himself with a little play time. He held the child captive in a dark cave in the swamplands about a mile off from the farm, the cave was flooded up to his ankles, the walls were covered in dark green foliage. All that could be heard was the girls crying, and the occasional, drip.....drip...dripping noise. His hideout was a good place to reside for this, and was booby trapped from the entrance to the chamber he was in. If anyone walked in he would hear them before they got to him, leaving him enough time to set the ambush.

A brilliant plan it was, and he was beginning to understand why he was so highly respected amongst his peers. He was eager to shed more blood, and his goddess was eager to praise him. He speaks to her in his dreams, and she wishes for him to one day be a god himself, he was very devoted Like'a, and would die just appease her. A normal person would call him insane, and twisted, but not his beloved goddess she saw the true him, a genius.

He had not truly believed in the gods until the one fateful day, he was defeated by a seriph, and was dancing with death, something happened that saved him. A dark mage had come, he covered the entire battlefield in darkness, and carried him to the temple of flames, where the goddess instilled her fury and energy into him. After that he was fine, and stronger then ever, with the support of the gods he became a fearsome, and ferocious fighter.

He stopped for a moment, escaping his memories, and knelt down next to the girl. "I am going to kill you little one, and then peel your skin off your bones." he spoke quietly, and casually. Her tears streaming down her soft, white, cheeks, accompanied with blood curdling screams, the fear entwined with hem. He smiled, and took a deep breath, as he sat enjoying the girls despair. He stopped thought, and taped the girls mouth shut to muffle the obnoxious screaming.

“Oh mother, goddess Like’a, I kneel for you one more time, before I take my leave towards the lands beyond the mountain” said Taz, as he sat upon his knees, his eyes watching the statue of the goddess, the goddess he worshipped, loved and cared for “Please grant me strength to do so, so I can spread your will, as well as kill without hestitation”

It was strange though, Only when Taz was alone he spoke such words, usually it was more the rude and blunt speaking he did, but whenever he prayed to his ‘mother’ his voice turned into something that sometimes had surprised the priests of this temple. His voice almost sounded kind.

Having spend more than a hour in front of the statue, Taz finally raised up again, and bowed towards the statue of his goddess, before picking up his gun from the ground, hanging it loosely around his shoulder as he softly spoke “It is time for me to go, Mother”. And he spent no more time, as he quickly left the praying room, only to find himself back in the main hall of the temple, where several priests walked around, or sat and prayed. Taz could spit on them all, as he found them nothing more than puppets, not even fully devoted towards his goddess Like’a, and he grunted as he continued on, pushing one of the priests out of his way rather rudely as he made his way to the door of the temple.

“young master Longvale!” would be heard echoing through the temple, as Taz sighed while he stood at the door. The voice was a familiar one, and Taz knew he couldn’t ignore that one, since it was the voice of his teacher that spoke. He slowly turned around, facing the old man as his eyes glared into his. “What is it?” Taz asked bluntly, leaning against the door. “Have you forgotten the rituals? You won’t leave without the traditional leaving”
“I don’t care about the rituals, Seghir” Taz said with a rude tone in his voice My mother commanded me to move onwards with haste, you can walk to hell with your rituals”
“Watch you’re tone boy, your talking to your teacher”
“Oh yeah? Well, I’m not under you’re command anymore”
“And what makes you think that?”
“This”

A moment of complete silence, before a gunshot sounded through the temple, following by a sickening thud of a body that fell on the ground. A puddle of blood begun to form in front of Taz’s feet, and Taz only could grin evilly as he looked down upon the dead body of his former teacher. His gun smoked a little, as the empty shell fell out, hitting the ground with a terrifying rinkle, before Taz turned around once more, watching directly towards two priests that stood there in horror. “What are you waiting for? Clean him up, throw him in the fires! I don’t want the home of my mother to be filthy with that guy’s blood!” Taz shouted towards the two, his gun threateningly pointed towards the two priests, Which hasted towards the body and dragged it away. “Useless tools..” Taz mumbled, before moving out of the temple, almost a sad look on his face that he had to leave his beloved place.

Such a horror, A young child, not even adult yet, that shoots a old and innocent man without any hestitation. But such was Taz, such was the way the goddess Like’a wanted him to be, such was the way she formed him, bend his will and corrupt his mind. He walked onwards, ignoring all the civilians of the small town, and giving short glares to anyone that dared to stare at him, as well as at the gun that still seemed to smoke. Taz didn’t take notice of that, And soon enough he stood at the border of the town. Not even turning around, he continued onwards towards destination unknown. It would be quite a travel, but Taz couldn’t say it wasn’t worth it. Besides, his mother had commanded him to do so, and he followed without any complaints, only wishing to keep her satisfied. With His gun at his side, a small rations bag on his shoulder and his belt with ammunition he travelled into the dieing woods that were near the village, and travelled on towards one of the main roads, that he would follow untill he reached a village.

”The time has come, they will meet the power of Taz, son of Like’a”

Croix rubbed his beard as he trotted along next to Sir Erik on his borrowed steed. Although the templar would've preferred his beautiful charger, Charlemagne, the mighty horse was still recovering from their last mission. Having a rental wasn't so bad. The fiery unicorn get up was a sweet bonus. Very sweet.

However, something was bothering Croix since he had started the journey. Sir Erik's eyes. They were pink. Pink wasn't a color that normally occurred in human beings, and it was simply too fabulous to make any logical sense...All in all, Croix got weird wipes from him. He was always in heavy armor (At least THAT wasn't pink), so it was impossible to tell what was beneath it, but his mannerisms and such...Alas, Croix didn't have enough exposure to tell such things.

"It appears we shall have our journey cut out for us, If Hinormi has anything to do with it," Erik stated, commenting on the ominous winds blowing on their journey.

"Heh. Our work's cut out for us. It's just, Akina will favor us, as she has in the past," Croix said, smiling and tapping at his sword's hilt at his waist.

"Well, my familiarity is more with the deserts down to the south, so I'll follow your lead. Let's find us a munchkin, yeah?" Croix said, slowing his trot below Erik's pace.
