Dante's boots crunched on the forest floor beneath him. He brushed plants and branches out of his way easily. He glanced up towards Abaddon, who's fiery wings illuminated the sky and floor aorund him. (So what are we looking at exactly in these other Elementals, you never really gave me a real good idea of what they're like) There is one for Water, of Storm and finally of Shadow. Water elementals tend to be emotional, and perhaps weak in that particular area, it clouds their judgement at times. They are generally compassionate, caring, and will fight to the end for the people they love and the causes they believe in. (Pansies) By your perspective, but do remember that water and fire mixing doesn't bode a positive ending for fire. (Yeah...true, then again if Fire is hot enough) Then hope that the water elemental is weak and new. Now Storm elementals tend to be erratic at times, though their control of natures elements are to be respected. They can be crafty and clever beings, more than like the Storm elemental has a raven, a fox, or other such clever, shrewd beings. (A coward) Though their ability to mix cleverness and their powers are not to be forgotten. Finally their is the Shadow elemental. The shadow elemental will be...quite dark to say the least. Twisted and most often evil beings. They can pick the darkest things from anothers minds and make them relive them, they get great pleasure from others pains, a trait that is deadly in a fight. (So...insane?) In a nutshell so to speak, yes. (Fantastic, basically I can see Storm and Water getting along. With those two together, they can definitely prove a problem I'm sure, but I do love a good challenge. Shadow will work on their own, but is going to be a much more insidious opponent should they choose to attack me. Since he or she is evil more than likely, they probably will.) A sound assessment. Weigh your's and their's strengths and weaknesses, and figure out plans. Remember you will be the strongest in terms of brute power, use that to your advantage when necessary. (The best way, in my opinion) Abbaddon chuckled, I agree but in other ways you must use your intelligence. You too are capable of being manipulative when called upon for it. Keep your head about you at all times. (I will, sheesh how long?) Within the next 20 minutes or so, you should reach the guarded gates of the city. And it appears a band of humans are nearby, though I can't tell who they are. Can't tell which way they're going. (Well if they come this way, let them hope they're friendly.) For their sake, they'd better hope so Dante snickered.

But push though he might his hand wouldn't enter the globe at normal pressures. "Hmm, interesting." This time he pushed at it with a single finger. More luck, his finger entered the globe but it maintained cohesion. "Could be useful."

Dante heard the voices before he saw them, sure enough a group of people were nearby. From the sounds of the voices and the heavy footsteps, they were men. Their rough voices and coarse language seemed strangely out of place amonst the tranquility of the forest. Within no time, their path and Dante's crossed, seeing as Dante had made no move to diviate from his original path. Four men, all ragged and rough looking crossed from Dante's right as he stepped forward. They glanced up at him in a brief look of alarm, followed by comprehension, and then to set the mood, a dark delight. The one that Dante picked out as the leader elbowed the one next to him, "well, well boys, lookie wha' we got 'ere." Yes, because a greeting like that always bodes positively Dante ignored Abbaddon's words in his mind and just smirked at the men, "and what can I do for you," he strained the next part of the sentence out with obvious difficulty, "fine gentlemen?" The leader chortled, his ugly scarred face twisted into what he must have thought was a smile, "yer not from around here are ya boy?" Dante's eyes felt the urge to roll, but for the time being he ignored the urge, "no, I cannot say I am." The man gave a glance to his companions, a leer appearing on their faces, "well, let us sho' ya 'round." Dante gave a patronizing smile, "I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to decline." The man feigned suprise, "an' why's tha'?" Dante's eyes narrowed, "Because I have a pretty decent idea of what your idea of "sho' me 'round" is." The man's fake warmth wiped away, "yer not smart boy, but we'll teach you some respect." (There's no way to avoid this hassle is there?) Consider it practice Dante sighed, "fine," he pulled the blade from his scabbard, "let's go then, show me some manners, or respect, whatever you call it." The men didn't even hesistate, why would they? It was only an arrogant noblemen that they faced, easy prey. One of the men, a brickhouse of a man, rushed forward, his hands reached out like a vice grip. Dante twisted easily out of his way, putting himself right in the path of a smaller, though arguably nastier looking man. His matting mustache curled with his lip as he swung with his short blade. Dante swung up and blocked the blow, the metal's clanging humming through the air. Without batting an eye, he picked his right leg up and kicked the man swiftly in the stomach, he grunted in suprise as he doubled over and fell to the ground. The leader had thrown himself into the fray, thrusting his long sword towards Dante. Danted sidestepped slightly, slamming his blade sideways, using the man's momentum to carry him forward. As the man stumbled forward, Dante swung back, hitting him in the back of his head with the butt of his sword. He crumpled to the ground with a groan. Dante's attention was spun to the man who had been hiding behind the other three during their "conversation." He held two tarnished daggers, and was swinging wildly at him. Dante sighed, as he parried to the right and with a swift move caught the man in the chest with his blade. A deep red wound appeared in his chest, he made several gasping noises before Dante pulled the blade out with a slick movement. The man dropped to the ground as Dante felt heavy movement behind him, he turned just in time to see a heavy object headed straight for his head. He ducked as he felt the wind shift heavily around him. He rolled back and jumped up to see the overly large man standing with what looked like a large sledgehammer, and an equally intimidating crazed look. Dante cocked his head, "an overly sized hammer? Come on, way to be a cliche buddy." The man only growled as he dashed out Dante, the hammer held overhead. Dante moved quickly out of the way, feeling the ground vibrate from the heavy blow. He glanced down at his sword and scoffed, "I doubt this will do me a whole lot of good against Barney the crazy hammer man, let's try something more fun." He pushed out his power, feeling the burn from within his body, coarsing through his veins, heating his arm. The fires licked out from his fingertips, shimmers of heat waving above his lit hand. The behemoth turned, his crazed look shifting quickly to a look of confusion. "Ahh, you look confused, let me alleviate that for you," Dante said with a smirk. He jerked his hand towards the man, and with a violent shove of power, a powerful jet of red hot flames flashed from his hand. It slammed into the man's chest, his bellow of pain echoing around for only a moment before the fire burned through his chest completely, the jet bursting from the other side of his body. Dante ceased the attack, the fire dying instantly, remaining on his hand. He spotted movement out of the corner of his eye and turned swiftly. The mustachioed man from before stood staring at him in complete terror. He watched Danted for a moment, his eyes locked on the flames in his hand, "oh God," and with that turned and ran. "Close," Dante said with a smirk and with a flick of his wrist sent a small wave of fire dashing along the ground. The man's flesh and clothes lit aflame, he dropped instantly to the ground, rolling desperately and fuitily on the ground. It lasted less then a minute before he stopped moving. He glanced down at the leader, who was feebly trying to get to his feet, probably to make a run for it, as his underling had tried to do. Dante kicked him in the head, knocking him back down. "You know for all the things I've done "wrong," killing a man I haven't done, and I've got to say I don't know what everyone's going on about, it really isn't that difficult." One of the few things wrong you haven't done (I take offense, there are SOME things I won't do!) He heard the smirk in the Guardian's voice Like what? (Forcing anything, anything that isn't human or under the age of 18, things like that) The Guardians chuckled wore off, just to let you know, you've got royal soldiers here in seconds Dante glared, knowing that the Guardian had known about their approach for awhile now. He continued to hold the man down as the soldiers burst through the clearing. The first soldier, obviously the one in command, surveyed the small clearing, before his rapt attention was swivelled to Dante and his burning hand. Dante just stared at him expectantly, "yes?" His voice came out commanding, "seen these outlaws headed this way, seen them headed for who we thought was a noble. Seems as if you're more then that." "Obviously," Dante replied dryly. "You're an Elemental," the man stated matter of factly. Dante sighed, "once again, obvious." The man nodded, "then by our Lord's request, you must come with us." (More like order...) What do you think? (Who knows? Maybe the Lord is an agreeable man, we may find an amicable agreement between us.) From what I know of the man, you and he should get along well enough Dante smirked, "fair enough. So be it, take me to him, was bound to run into him." Two soldiers advanced on him, their arms beginning to raise, Dante stepped back and stared at them, "uh uh, don't touch. I'm able to walk on my own thank you very much. If I'm to meet your leader, it's certainly not for the reasons you'd suspect. Now gentlement, if you'd kindly lead me out of this insepid forest and towards some sembelance of civilization, out of chains, that would be most appreciated." The captain stared at him long and hard before nodding, "fine, you may go unchained, but any foul business will not be tolerated." Dante sighed deeply, "obviously." With that they turned, two behind him, and three including the Captain in front of him. (What a lovely trip this will be)

'On the matter of a fire elemental having gone back alone, you are right to be concerned. Hot headed, stubborn, arrogant and powerful. They wouldn't be like to be a team player, which is well enough, if they've gone back into The Teacher's territory alone. But their independence won't bode well for our side, either. We can only hope to find them before they've decided to take matters completely into their own hands. They may not hear reason, but at least we can stop them from pandering too far in one direction or another.' Quote:
For the moment, though, it would have to be enough. "I don't doubt shaving down the area of applied pressure would make it easier to penetrate. So...I could potentially make us a more efficient shield against cannon balls, or whatever, than arrows, swords, and bullets, weird as it sounds." She shrugged, rolling her shoulders. "I'll work on it. Maybe I can make a double layer shield...the first layer, water, to keep out the bigger stuff, and ice for the rest." She glanced up at him. "I'm becoming our defense for more and more every second," she said matter-of-factly. "We can escape over--and I think under--water if we need to, and I can build shields and what not as long as there's enough water around. Here, it's fine, but if we ever got caught in a desert..." She shuddered at the thought of being away from what was becoming more and more a part of her with each passing second. "Let's hope it doesn't come to that."

Sha'ghul laughed softly over the mental link. "Methinks there is a difference between avenging ones family by killing the teacher and going back twenty years to beat up that fat bully at school." Sha'ghul looked over at the two elementals practicing and tossing ideas between them. "But I think out own time is limited by this, anything this fire elemental does could cause cascade changes if we remain here too long." Sha'ghul was referring to alterations in history that may effect the mental states of the two elementals here. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Kadaeux nodded. "You are the shield and I am, the sword? spear? or even a bow?" Kadaeux let his static shield reform and the water flowed from his body. "But don't doubt your power if we got caught in a desert, while you wouldn't be able to do much power-wise I think that locating and accessing water sources would be much easier." Then Kadaeux drew the scimitars from on his back. They were light, razor sharp and absolute works of art. "Would you like to be trained in some swordsmanship before we go back? I'm sure I can get you a blade once we get there." OOC: Kadaeux's Scimitars.

~*~*~*~ Kya chewed a lip, rolling over the thought in her head. Finding water water is a desert would be like finding a single black sheep amidst a herd of a thousand: easy enough to pinpoint, but only if you knew where to look. But it would be invaluable, nonetheless. Water was a commodity in the desert, and if only she knew its location...Kya could become a miser in a world of men. Figuratively speaking. "Yeah, I guess I could--What?" His next words had just fallen squarely on her ears. "You...me? But I...I mean, I can't...I don't..." She didn't what? She didn't know how? Well, he was offering to teach her. Undoubtedly, with what Regen had told her, and what she could guess herself, some swordplay would be useful, a necessity, even. If she were caught in a desert, and couldn't find water...If her powers failed her for some reason or another... But this was the twenty first century! The last time she'd even seen a sword was last Christmas, rewatching The Pirates of the Caribbean. And that was set centuries ago. Even so, the actors had been trained, and their stunt doubles were professionals. She was a nineteen year old college student first, and... No. No, first she was a Warrior. Skills like these would be invaluable, quintessential to her new personality. She was almost...excited to learn. No, her real problem was... "I'd have to...kill someone," she said slowly. It wasn't a question. Suddenly, she wished she were back with her parents, and she'd never met Regen, or Kadeaux, or Sha'ghul. She didn't want any of this. She'd never asked...to be a killer.

Sha'ghul nodded. "I believe he understands the concepts behind it and could do it. If I told him it was needed he would at least try without hesitation." She told Regen, the only hangup was Kya. "If necessary I believe he could even take Kya and yourself with us if Kya isn't ready?" --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "I'd have to...kill someone," she said slowly. It wasn't a question. Suddenly, she wished she were back with her parents, and she'd never met Regen, or Kadeaux, or Sha'ghul. She didn't want any of this. She'd never asked...to be a killer. "It's a distinct possibility," Kadaeux admitted sadly, "But with proper training in a good blade you can save as many or more, a good man will not fight if there is a way out, a coward won't die if given a choice. I think only the Teachers closest men would force you to take their lives or lose your own." Kadaeux handed her one of the scimitars with its sheath still on like that he still held. As any would he passed it hilt first. "Now the first thing to know is defence..." Kadaeux held up his blade to demonstrate "Like this, now, I will begin by making a lot of slow strokes at your blade, you will block them, deflect them or simply move out of their way, as we go on I will get progressively faster, if my own experience is any guide you should learn very quickly, a perk of being an elemental perhaps?" With that Kadaeux began the first stroke, a steady textbook over shoulder strike. EDIT: "And remember" He said as he completed the stroke, "short of using your powers a man in those ages will generally be physically stronger than yourself, in such instances you don't want to get into a locked blade contest, if a man swings at you with all the strength he can muster do not block, either dodge or deflect his weapon, for us both our powers and probably speed and agility will be our advantages."

Dante's trip through the town was far more eventful then the rest of the half-mile. It seems that being escorted by a troupe of guards down the main street was still a spectacle in this age and time. The dirty and worn out faces of the townspeople rose above the shining armor of the guards. In no time they reached the outer gardens of the palace. Dante stared at the grass, bushes and flowers fo the garden, appreciating the colors and the smells of the place. Walking up several stone steps they reached the grand hall. He also found himself appreciating the interior of the building. The architecture grand, if not a little dark. Eventually they reached the inner sanctum, which could be called the throne room if one were so inclined to call it it that. The room was lit well enough except for the back of the room, where the figure of a well shadowed over man sat. "You must be the teacher," Dante stated with a smirk. The figure nodded, "and you must be an Elemental." "Ah, so you do know about us, that saves me a whole lot of trouble." The figure regarded him for a moment before replying, "and from your demeanor, and from what a scout has informed me, you are the Fire Elemental." Dante through up his arms, his hands pointed to himself, "the one and only." The figure gave no reaction, "we have a few things to discuss." Dante grinned, "I'm listening."

Regen shook his head. 'She hasn't learned yet, but I think she's capable. If not, I can assist her. In any case, travel will be most efficient with the three of us, or four, if I am correct in assuming Kya learns quickly, moving toward the same goal.' Time travel was treacherous. Easy to get lost in time and end up hundreds of years outside your goal. Or worse, to make a mistake in space and leave a body part behind, or end up at the bottom of an ocean and drown before you knew what was happening. He was glad he had someone as level-headed as Kya, because panic in a time travel situation could prove fatal. Kya didn't have time to bristle at the physical strength comment. Deep within her, where her pride couldn't reach, she knew it was true. She simply didn't have the muscle strength or coordination--yet--of her larger male peers, particularly those who were already trained with the sword. Being "strong for your size" didn't mean much when you were just over five feet tall. But to her advantage, Kya was small and fast, and would be able to dodge well. It was with this renewed confidence she raised her right arm, scimitar in hand, outstretched, to block the blow. She winced as the strike fell and vibrations jarred her arm and stung her palm. But the other blade had been stopped two feet away, and at her bidding. She blinked, almost surprised, then allowed herself a small smile. "Oh," she said, the simple statement holding a thousand meanings. True, if it came down to it, she'd have to dodge or deflect. She much preferred the idea of defending, rather than attacking...but this was exhilarating nonetheless.
